Alpha Razor King-Chapter 118: An Exit.
**Chris**
"Did you hear that?" Tara asked beside me, her voice trembling with fear.
"Yes," I nodded, straining to listen. "I think it’s the failed enhanced craps."
"I think they’re trying to escape, Chris," Tara said, her panic rising. "We need to get the fuck out of these restraints quickly."
"I just need something, any sharp object," I replied, looking around frantically. The sound of growling and banging grew louder, echoing through the lab’s sterile corridors.
Tara’s eyes darted around the room, scanning for anything that might help us. "There! On that tray," she pointed with her chin to a nearby metal tray holding various surgical instruments.
"I’ll try to reach it," I said, stretching my arm as far as the restraints would allow. My fingers brushed the edge of the tray, but it was just out of reach.
"Come on, Chris," Tara urged. "You can do it."
I strained harder, my muscles burning with the effort. Finally, I managed to tip the tray towards us. It clattered to the floor, and a scalpel slid within our reach.
"Got it!" I exclaimed, grabbing the scalpel with my fingers. Carefully, I maneuvered it to unlock the restraints on my wrist.
"Hurry, Chris," Tara begged . "They’re getting closer."
The scalpel slid into the metal, and with a few more careful slides, my wrist was free. I quickly worked on the other restraint, then moved to Tara’s.
"Hold still," I instructed, and then unlocked her restraints as quickly as I could without nicking her skin.
Just as I freed Tara, a loud crash echoed from down the hallway.
"We need to move, now!" I said, helping Tara to her feet. We ran towards the door, glancing around frantically for a way out.
Tara’s breath came in ragged gasps as we sprinted down the corridor, desperately searching for an exit. "Chris, look!" Tara pointed frantically behind us.
I turned to follow her gaze and saw two of the enhanced wolves running towards us. My heart raced as I yanked Tara behind me. "Stay behind me," I ordered, bracing myself for the attack.
The wolves closed the distance in seconds, their snarls echoing through the lab. The first wolf lunged at me with terrifying speed. I barely had time to react, but my instincts took over. I dodged to the side, feeling the rush of air as its claws swiped past my face.
The second wolf came at me from the other side. I spun around and managed to kick it in the chest, sending it stumbling back, but it quickly regained its footing. The first wolf, undeterred by its initial miss, circled around, looking for another opening.
"Chris, watch out!" Tara screamed as the wolves lunged at me simultaneously.
I ducked and rolled, narrowly avoiding their claws. I grabbed a nearby metal rod and swung it at the nearest wolf, striking it across the muzzle. It yelped in pain but quickly recovered, baring its teeth in a menacing snarl.
"Get back, Tara!" I shouted, keeping my eyes on the wolves. "Find something to defend yourself with!"
Tara scrambled to find a weapon, her eyes wide with fear. She grabbed a broken piece of metal and held it defensively with trembling hands, especially where her missing fingers made it hard to grip.
The wolves attacked again, this time with even more ferocity. I swung the metal rod with all my might, managing to fend them off, but I knew I couldn’t keep this up forever. They were too strong, too relentless.
One of the wolves suddenly shifted its focus to Tara. It lunged at her with a snarl. "No!" I shouted, rushing to intercept it. I swung the rod, hitting the wolf in the side and knocking it off course.
"Chris!" Tara cried, backing away from the approaching wolves.
I positioned myself between Tara and the wolves, panting heavily. "We need to find a way out of here," I sighed.
The wolves circled us, their eyes burning with rage. They were toying with us, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
"Chris, look!" Tara pointed to a vent near the floor, partially hidden behind a pile of debris. "Maybe we can escape through there!"
I glanced at the vent and then back at the wolves. It was a long shot, but it was our only chance. "Get ready," I said, gripping the metal rod tightly.
I swung the rod in a wide arc, forcing the wolves back momentarily. "Go, Tara! Get to the vent!" I shouted.
But instead of moving toward the vent, Tara stood her ground. "No, Chris. We have to kill them, or they’ll just come after us."
Before I could protest, Tara lunged at the wolf I had hit earlier, swinging the piece of metal with all her might. The wolf snarled and tried to dodge, but Tara’s strike connected with its head, stunning it. She struggled to maintain her grip, her fucking missing fingers making it difficult, but she refused to back down.
I turned my attention to the second wolf, which was already lunging at me again. I swung the metal rod, catching it in mid-air and knocking it to the ground. With a fierce yell, I brought the rod down on its head repeatedly until it fell off, its body lying limp on the floor. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Tara, meanwhile, was locked in a desperate struggle with the other wolf. It snapped at her, but she managed to evade its jaws and deliver another crushing blow to its skull. With one final swing, she brought the metal down on its neck, snapping its head off with a sickening crunch.
The hallway fell silent except for our heavy breathing. Tara collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face from the exhaustion and pain. I dropped the metal rod and rushed to her side, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"We did it," I whispered, trying to catch my breath. "We actually did it."
Tara nodded silently.
"What’s wrong?" I asked, concerned.
"It’s nothing," she replied, but I could see the pain in her eyes as she glanced at her bruised fingers.
"Tara," I began, trying to find the right words.
"I hate it, Chris," she interrupted, her voice trembling. "That bastard did this to me."
"I promise you, we’ll make him pay," I said, gently cupping her cheeks.
"You don’t understand."
"I know," I sighed, looking into Tara’s eyes. "I know how you feel."
"No, you don’t," she shook her head sadly. "I have only one ear also..."
"Tara, please," I gently pushed out a strand of hair from her face. "You’re still beautiful, I promise."
"Maybe I’m paying for all my sins," Tara murmured.
"Tara!" I interrupted, my voice pleading. "You’re not a bad person, believe me. And I promise I’m getting you out of here."
"Thanks, Chris," she nodded, wiping away her tears. "Thank you so much for always being there for me."
"Let’s get out of here," I urged, taking her hand and leading her down the hallway.
We moved silently through the corridor.
"What the fuck happened here?" Tara gasped when she saw the bloody mess on the floor. "It’s so disgusting." she scrunched her nose in disgust..
"I don’t know," I shook my head, "but I don’t see any of those bastards around."
We rounded a corner, stumbling upon a control room. I pushed open the door, and we slipped inside. The room was filled with monitors and control panels, and a large window overlooked the chaos below.
"I can’t believe Tom built all this in just a year," I said, shaking my head in disbelief.
"Look," Tara pointed to one of the monitors. "It shows the lab’s layout. There’s an exit here," she traced a path with her finger.
"Alright," I said, studying the screen. "We need to get to the north wing. Let’s go."
"No wait," she pointed at the monitor. "There they are."
It was the fucking stupid elders walking on the hallway. But Tom wasn’t with them.
"Those bastards," I groaned. "Why does it look like they’re coming..."
"Here," Tara looked at me. "We need to get the hell out of here."
"Come on," I grabbed her hand, ready to drag her along, but she pulled back.
"Look, look!" she exclaimed, pointing at the screen. "It’s Razor. He’s here at the pack house."
I turned to the monitor and saw my alpha arriving with our men. Relief washed over me. Finally, we could get out of there.
"Before we leave," Tara interrupted my thoughts. "If...if anything happens to me, Chris, please beg Razor to spare my father," her voice was strained with emotion.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" I frowned, trying to mask my growing unease. "We’re both going to survive this. You’ll see."
"Please, just promise me," Tara’s voice cracked with desperation.
"Alright, alright," I relented, my tone softening. "I’ll do it. But let’s focus on getting out of here first, okay?"
"Thank you," Tara whispered, a faint smile gracing her lips. "Now let’s get out of here."
