Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 268-After The Failed Attempt
Iris:
I only remember that while I was still slightly conscious, Zoe went against everyone and got me out of there. After that, it felt like when you finally trust that you are in safe hands and your body gives in.
That is exactly what happened.
A short while later, I suddenly passed out. The commotion around me faded into silence.
I lost consciousness as if I were lying on a comfortable bed, drifting into sleep.
After some time, I slowly began to regain awareness. Different flashes started appearing in my mind.
Bits and pieces returned to me.
Most of them were warnings about my mother. I had been told that she did not want me to leave, that I should come back, that she would take my children away from me.
I jolted awake and sat up in bed.
"No. Leave my children alone," I cried out.
As soon as I screamed, I looked around. That was when I realized I had not passed out on the floor outside my bedroom in the mansion.
I was in a comfortable bed.
Then everything started coming back. Zoe had arrived, and she had secured us.
My children had been saved.
"Iris, are you okay?" he asked as the door flew open and light spilled into the room.
My mate rushed in.
The way he entered, his suit stretched tightly over his body. His muscles pressed against the fabric as if they would tear through it.
He came over and sat beside me. Grabbing my arms, he gave me a slight shake, and I came fully to my senses.
"Where are my children?" I asked him, glancing around.
"They’re completely fine. Don’t worry," he assured me.
"But before sleeping, they kept asking about you," Kash told me, looking at me with warmth.
"I told them you were completely fine."
His fingers brushed gently against my cheeks.
"Do you know what happened today, Kash?" I asked.
As soon as the words left my mouth, my voice began to tremble.
"Yes, I know. I will handle it," Kash replied, cupping my face in his hands.
There was comfort in his eyes, and there was a storm too.
He was angry, yet composed.
As if he knew I was safe now.
But he also knew that someone had dared to enter the mansion. To come into Alpha King Kash’s mansion and try to take his wife and children against his will, that required a lot of courage and support.
"Don’t worry. No one will ever come to separate you or the children from me again," Kash assured me, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
But I still was not satisfied.
The fear was still lodged in my chest.
"But Kash, they kept saying they would take us to east," I continued, then paused.
When I saw the look on his face, I stopped.
His expression hardened.
"Were they caught?" I asked him again.
Kash stepped back slowly and rubbed his face with his hands.
Then he rose and began pacing across the room.
From the way he moved, it was clear he was extremely anxious.
"As soon as they realized they were about to be captured, they killed themselves," Kash said quietly, dragging his hand over the back of his neck.
"It looks like they were paid to do this. They knew that if they were caught, their identities would be revealed."
He paused, then turned to look me in the eye.
"Go on," I urged.
"They were lycans," I added.
I watched him exhale sharply because he understood now.
That was why they kept insisting I should go east. That I belonged with my mother.
"They were sent by her. My brother sent them to collect us," I told Kash.
He began nodding aggressively.
"They have broken an important treaty," he declared.
"Sending their men here to take an Alpha King’s wife and kidnap his children is a declaration of war, Iris."
His voice suddenly rose.
He started breathing hard, a low grunt escaping with each breath. He pointed toward himself, then toward an invisible distance when he mentioned my brother and my mother.
"I already knew," I said quietly.
"This is not over."
As soon as I said that, I pushed myself up from the bed.
Kash quickly moved toward me to steady me, but I was fine. I stood on my own.
Then it struck me.
That was why they knew how to drug me. My mother must have trained them thoroughly.
They knew my identity.
I realized I was in the guest house. Kash was here with me, and so were the children.
"What about your mother? Lara? Zoe? How is everyone else?" I asked him.
He gestured toward the corridor.
"They’re in the guest rooms," he explained.
"For now, the mansion will be treated as a crime scene. We’ll examine fingerprints and run checks on them to see what information surfaces."
He held my hand, and together we walked out of the room.
Once outside, I noticed my father was still awake, sitting on the couch with James.
And Lady Vivian, who looked at me with disdain.
"My daughter, seeing you has made my heart happy. You are fine now, aren’t you?" my father asked as he quickly stood up and came toward me.
He took my hand and led me to the couch, making me sit beside him.
"Are you okay?" James asked, repeating the same question, and I nodded my head.
Then my eyes shifted toward Lady Vivian.
"Are you alright?" I asked Lady Vivian, who rolled her eyes, crossed her arms over her chest, and placed one leg over the other.
"How can I be alright? Every day there is some new trauma," his mother said.
"Would you like to tell me why your mother was sending people to kidnap us?" she demanded.
As soon as his mother said this, Kash came and sat beside his mother.
"Mother, I have already explained to you. Her mom is not mentally stable," As soon as he said that, Lady Vivian pointed her finger at him and silenced him.
"How can a woman have enough power to hire so many people and send them into the mansion of an Alpha King? The truth is something else, and it has been hidden from all of us," she declared.
As soon as she said that, I looked at Kash.
I guess both of us were beginning to realize that hiding my status was becoming more and more difficult.
