Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 279-Rift Between Lovers
Iris:
Luca stared at my face after telling me he had nothing to do with the kidnapping.
I slammed my hands on the table and stood up.
"Your father will be very disappointed in you," I said as I walked away.
Before I could reach the door and leave, Luca’s voice stopped me.
"I hope you do not take that anger out on my father."
The moment those words registered, I turned around and shook my head in disappointment.
"Just because you go above and beyond for your own purpose does not mean everyone else is the same."
My words made the color drain from his face. He had the nerve to look hurt over what I had said.
"Before you leave, I want to make a request."
As soon as he said that, I rolled my eyes, my hand resting on the doorframe.
"Please, just believe me."
I gave him one last glance before walking out of the room.
The warriors immediately stepped inside to take him back to the prison.
When I reached Kash, who had been waiting for me, I noticed the bandage wrapped around his hand. It suggested he had refused to transition for now.
"So what happened?" he asked, his hands on his waist.
"He has taken full accountability for what happened in the lycan community, but he has completely denied any involvement in this kidnapping."
After hearing my answer, Kash gave me a sarcastic smile and began shaking his head.
"And you must have believed him, right?"
As soon as he said that, I glared at him.
Just then, the warriors brought Luca out. We both fell silent.
Luca walked past me with the warriors. I noticed how Kash looked at Luca, then at me, as if checking our interaction.
As soon as Luca disappeared from sight, I grabbed Kash’s hand and dragged him with me.
"What is going on?" Kash asked, looking around at the warriors and pack members who were there to meet their families. People had started noticing how an Alpha King was being dragged by his half-sized Luna Queen.
"Walk quietly. Understood?" I stopped briefly, pointed at his face, and warned him not to say a word.
The anger on his face melted instantly. He looked at the people awkwardly, then lowered his head.
After that, he followed me like a child following his teacher.
During all this, a sharp pain had started pounding in my head.
I was furious with my mother. I did not understand why she would not leave me alone, or if she was angry that power and control were slipping from her hands.
The moment we stepped outside, I gestured for Kash to sit in the passenger seat while I took the driver’s seat.
The entire way home, I scolded him. He remained silent and kept listening.
The rest of our day passed in a busy schedule.
Some of the things Luca had said still echoed in my head, making it ache.
By the time we reached home, it was very late.
"Zoe, where are Colin, and Amy?" I asked as soon as I entered the guest house.
"They were waiting for you and then fell asleep. They have been playing all day," Zoe replied with a smile. She was sitting in the lounge, reading a book with my father.
"Are you both alright?" my father asked, referring to me and Kash.
I turned to look at Kash, then walked over and sat beside my father.
"Luca is not admitting that he had anything to do with the kidnapping."
As soon as I said that, Kash sat down alone on the sofa. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"But that does not mean he is innocent. All the evidence points toward him," Kash responded harshly, almost as if calling me out for repeating that Luca had not admitted it.
"I am not saying he did not do it. I am only telling you what he said," I snapped.
The two of us glared at each other silently before I turned my head.
I saw Lady Vivian standing in the hallway. It looked as if she had come out after hearing the car to probably to see her son.
But seeing us argue like that, there was a strange smile on her face that unsettled me deeply.
As soon as Kash looked at his mother, he stood up to greet her.
"How is James? He must be very worried, right?" I asked my father, mentioning James.
He gave me a faint nod. I felt bad for him.
These days, parents suffer for their children’s mistakes. They end up looking guilty, as if they were the ones who did something wrong.
"Did that shameless man say anything?" Lady Vivian asked Kash.
"No. As expected of him. He is admitting half the mistake, not the rest. But no one is going to get him out now, so do not worry," Kash replied, looking at me as if he were taunting me.
I rolled my eyes and turned my head away. I noticed Zoe watching both of us.
"What is going on? Why are you two fighting over this?" Zoe snapped.
"We are not fighting. I just do not want Luca to trap her because she is innocent," Kash responded.
I was ready to defend myself when Zoe let out a frustrated sound.
"That is not fair. He fooled all of us, so do not put the blame only on Iris. And if you were so confident, you should have kept an eye on things," she hissed.
"Enough. Do not fight. Go and think about it. We are shifting back to the main mansion tomorrow anyway," Zoe said, closing her book and standing up. She gave her brother a clear warning as she walked between us.
As she passed, her mother looked at her with clear disappointment.
I think, somewhere deep down, Lady Vivian wanted Zoe to fuel this fire and widen the differences between us.
"Dad, you should also go and rest," I said, kissing my father on the cheek.
He stood up with me.
As I walked toward my room, I heard Lady Vivian speaking softly to Kash.
When I turned around, they were facing each other.
"Go and check on Lara once. She had a terrible headache today," Lady Vivian told Kash.
There was an exhausted look on his face until his eyes met mine.
Then he gave a small nod and agreed to his mother’s request.
