Chapter 152: Chapter 152 Stay Away from Him

Elijah sat at the head of the long table in the conference room, his eyes fixed on the projector screen before him. The Secretary-General was briefing him on the military intelligence gathered by spies from the North. In addition to Elijah, several military officials, including Haley, were also attending the meeting.

Based on intelligence gathered by the spies, the North was deploying troops along the border. The Secretary-General’s tone was grave as he held an infrared pen and pointed at the location marked on the map displayed on the screen. "They should attack us from this position," he stated.

"How many weapons do they have?" Haley inquired.

The Secretary-General moved the mouse and opened a blurry photograph. "This is a photo secretly taken by our spies at the border airport in the North. Although the photo is not clear, it can be discerned that the North has amassed a considerable amount of military weapons," he explained.

When Haley and the other military officials viewed the images on the screen, they all looked disturbed.

"It seems they are well-prepared this time," Haley remarked, glancing at Elijah, who remained silent.

After the Secretary-General’s briefing, a brief silence enveloped the room. No one dared to utter a word until the King spoke.

After a lengthy pause, Haley couldn’t resist asking the Secretary-General, "Is it true that the leader of the troops this time is still Klaus?"

"Yes," the Secretary-General replied.

Upon hearing this answer, the expressions of the several military officers invariably shifted from disturbance to concern. There was a palpable fear in their eyes, as if they had heard the name of a bogeyman.

Elijah, who had been silent throughout, observed the varied expressions of the men. With a cold gaze, he scanned everyone present, who immediately bowed their heads and dared not look at him directly.

"Are you afraid of Klaus?" Elijah asked in a chilling tone.

None of the people present dared to respond. The hatred between Elijah and Klaus was an open secret, and there wasn’t a single Westerner who didn’t know that Klaus in the North was the only formidable adversary capable of competing with Elijah.

"So, what are we going to do if the North does attack us?" Haley asked cautiously.

"It will take them at least one to two months to prepare for an attack on us," Elijah replied calmly. "Our priority now is to eliminate the rebels completely before they launch an attack from the North."

"But we also need to prepare for the impending war," a military officer wearing a medal suggested. "We need more fighters and weapons."

Elijah glanced at the military officer who had spoken up. "It’s not too late to discuss that after we’ve dealt with the rebels," he said.

"But..." the officer started to protest, but trailing off.

"I don’t want to repeat it," Elijah interrupted the military officer. "I’ll give you two weeks to wipe out the rebels. If you can’t, you’ll escort me to the border and stand guard."

When the military officers heard Elijah’s words, they immediately fell silent, not daring to voice any objections.

"This meeting is over," Elijah announced.

As the others left the room, only Haley remained. She locked the parlor door and approached Elijah.

"What’s going on?" Elijah asked.

"When the Secretary-General reported to you that the North was about to attack us, you didn’t seem to care," Haley asked in an uncertain tone. "Do you already have other plans?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"If you think I don’t care about the North, you’re wrong," Elijah said. "Yes, I do have other plans."

"What’s your plan?" Haley asked curiously.

"It’s none of your business," he dismissed her abruptly.

"I’m your sister; don’t I have the right to know your plans?" Haley’s face suddenly darkened. "Are you secretly planning something with that dark wizard?"

"If you don’t have anything better to do, get out," Elijah said impatiently.

"Elijah, do you know what that dark wizard did to me?" Haley grabbed Elijah’s arm eagerly. "That time you told me to go to him, he..."

"Did he sleep with you or did he hit you?" Elijah raised an eyebrow. "Or both?"

Elijah remembered that he had just asked Haley to seduce the Dark Wizard in order to obtain a spell to control the undead warrior. Eventually, Haley told him about the spell, but she didn’t mention what the Dark Wizard had done to her.

"He..." Haley stopped, a look of shame on her face. "He let something into my body."

"What’s that?" Elijah asked disapprovingly. "His penis?"

Elijah’s words provoked Haley’s anger. She glared at him and said, "It’s a ghost!"

Haley’s voice was agitated, her fists clenched, her eyes full of hatred for the dark wizard. "That damn dark wizard actually summoned a ghost to have sex with me. He made my body feel hollowed out. Elijah, there’s something wrong with that dark wizard."

"You’re saying that Green summoned a ghost to have sex with you, right?" Elijah didn’t believe anything Haley said; it was a far-fetched reason.

"I know I’ve ignored you all this time, but you don’t need to make up such a ridiculous reason to get my attention," Elijah said impatiently. "Why don’t you just tell me what you want? Jewelry or something else?"

"Do you think I’m asking you for a reward?" Haley’s voice sharpened. "Why don’t you believe what I’m saying is true?"

"That’s enough, Haley," Elijah glared at her. "What if Green let the ghost have sex with you? He didn’t turn you into a ghost."

"Elijah, I investigated him," Haley stood up, excitement in her voice. "I saw someone go into that basement, but I never saw anyone come out. The dark wizard must be practicing some sort of witchcraft. Elijah, he’s not a good guy."

"You’re actually investigating Green?" Elijah looked at Haley warily. "Did you go into that basement?"

"Although I haven’t actually been inside that basement, I smell a strong scent of blood outside the door," Haley said, her voice trembling as if recalling something horrible. "I suspect that the dark wizard killed someone—a lot of someones."

She paused for a few seconds, then continued, "I’ve heard that the Dark Wizard likes to sacrifice the undead with blood. Maybe he is..."

"Shut up, Haley," Elijah grabbed Haley by the neck, the veins in his hands bulging as if they were about to crush her throat.

He pressed her down onto the conference table with such force that it trembled slightly. "Do you know what you’re talking about?" Elijah’s voice was cold as ice, each word carrying a sharp chill.

Haley’s face flushed as she struggled in vain, her hands grasping Elijah’s arm. Her eyes were wide open, full of terror and despair.

"I warned you, don’t worry about what you shouldn’t be worried about," Elijah said, his expression still cold, his eyes devoid of emotion. "Why do you always disobey my orders?"

Haley’s face turned purple from the lack of oxygen, but Elijah had no intention of stopping. His hands tightened on Haley’s neck until she couldn’t make a sound.
