Chapter 178: Chapter 178 I reject you

" Move." Elijah gave the order to the band of western warriors, and then the band of western warriors surrounding Klaus moved to one side, and they gave way.

Emily started toward Klaus. She looked at Klaus on his knees, overcome with grief. Her feet were on the blood-stained ground, and every step she took was agonizing.

She had lost the pack, and she could not lose Klaus again. Whatever Elijah wanted her to do, she was willing to do, if only she could keep Klaus alive.

"Klaus." Emily was on her knees beside Klaus. She longed to embrace him, but her hands were bound with cords, so that all she could do was to draw her tear-stained cheeks closer to his.

" My lover." Klaus’s voice was weak, exhausted by the constant fighting. He was bruised and battered, and his green eyes were glassy.

" We lost the pack," Emily sobbed. Brutal fighting had declared them defeated.

At the beginning of the war, Elijah had taken her to the other side of the valley, where he had forced her to witness the battle between the undead band of Western warriors and the Northern army.

She sees the Northern Warrior after the Northern Warrior dies at the hands of the undead Western Warrior. The battlefield was strewn with the dead bodies of the Northern warriors, and the blood of countless men was gathered into a river that stained the earth red.

This time, they were completely outgunned.

"Klaus, please forgive me. " Emily’s shoulders shook slightly from crying.

" You’re not wrong." Klaus’ tone was bitter and helpless, he lifted his hand feebly and wiped the tears from the corner of Emily’s eyes, " I wanted to take you to see blue roses in the spring, and take you out to the sea to see pink dolphins in the summer. I wanted to give you all I had. But I’m sorry I can’t keep those promises now."

Klaus glanced at Elijah, who was standing by, and he said to Emily in a hoarse voice, "Promise me that if I die, you’ll stay alive. I know Elijah won’t kill you."

"I don’t want you to die, Klaus. " Emily choked, and her wolf let out a sad wail. Her heart ached, and still she could not make the hard decision.

" Emily, don’t waste my time." Elijah’s icy words pierced Emily’s heart like a sharp knife.

She tilted her head back and inhaled deeply. The air, mixed with blood and smoke, rushed into her lungs and sent a tingling pain through her. The smell of blood in the air filled Emily’s nostrils, and seemed to remind her of the savage battle that had just taken place. Sadness swept over her like a tidal wave, taking over her brain, making it almost impossible for her to think.

She looked up at the gray sky, which should have been blue and clear, but which was now clouded with smoke and gloom, and Emily’s world seemed to collapse at that moment, and all her hopes to perish.

All hope was gone, and the last vestiges of her sanity told her that she must make that decision.

"Emily, don’t. " Her wolf tried desperately to stop her.

"It’s the only way to keep Klaus alive. " Emily tried to suppress the grief inside her. She knew that the agony she was about to endure would hurt even more than it did now, but she had no choice.

"Emily, what are you doing? " Klaus seemed to sense Emily’s thoughts as he gritted his teeth and told her, "Don’t do anything stupid."

"I love you, Klaus. " Emily lowered her head and kissed Klaus deeply on the lips, tears sliding down her cheeks to her lips. She tasted the bitterness of it.

Then Emily slowly removed her lips from Klaus’s mouth, while she looked deeply into his eyes. Her eyes were full of love, but the words that fell from her lips were the most cruel.

"I, Emily·Camilles, refuse Klaus·Camilles to be my mate."

"No! " Klaus let out a hiss of grief as he propped himself up on his elbows on the ground, his face contorted with pain.

Emily heard her wolf’s cry as her heart was torn from her breast, and the pain spread through her body, and the moment she was about to fall a pair of hands lifted her up from behind.

Elijah cut the cords that bound her hands with his claws. She tried to reach out and touch Klaus, but Elijah held her back and would not let her near him. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Then Dyson stepped behind Klaus, revealing his sharp claws, and stabbed Klaus in the back. The air seemed to freeze at that moment, and a cruel smile spread over Dyson’s face, and his eyes were full of satisfaction and madness.

Klaus uttered a muffled grunt of pain. Blood gurgled from the wound and dripped on the cold ground.

Dyson’s paws stirred slightly on Klaus’s back as if to enjoy Klaus’s pain. Klaus turned pale for a moment.

Dyson jerked his paw from Klaus’s body, and in the next second Klaus’s body hit the hard ground with a dull thud.

Klaus, like other fallen Northern warriors, never rose again.

All was silent around him, save for the whistling of the wind in his ears. Emily’s cries rang in the air, a grief that tore at his heart and soul.

"You promised me you wouldn’t kill him. " Emily swung her fist and pounded Elijah hard, "You lied to me!"

"That’s enough! " Elijah grabbed Emily’s hands tightly as he said fiercely, "I promised you not to kill him, but that doesn’t mean someone else can’t kill him."

"He’s right. " Dyson looked at the blood on the wolf’s paw and he gave a sinister smile, "I didn’t promise you not to kill Klaus."

"You bastard, I’m going to kill you." Emily hissed, her eyes red as she tried to pounce on Dyson, but Elijah immediately called for two soldiers to drag Emily away.

The soldiers grabbed Emily’s arms and dragged her away from the scene despite her struggles. Emily stamped her feet on the ground, but she could not get away from the soldiers.

" Dyson, burn all the bodies in here." Elijah ordered.

Emily writhed in agony, her eyes filled with despair and grief. She watched as Dyson instructed soldiers to pour gasoline on the bodies.

They were going to burn her Klaus.

" No!" Emily screamed.

"Sedate her. " Elijah ordered the guards.

A soldier thrust a sharp needle into her neck, and a sharp pain shot through her, and then Emily’s body began to go numb. Her vision was blurred, and the images before her eyes became distorted. She tried to resist, to struggle, but her body could no longer obey her. Gradually her consciousness sank, as into an endless abyss of darkness.
