Chapter 209: Chapter 209 The Wrath of the Wolf King

West, Palace Royal

In order to find out Emily’s whereabouts, Elijah orders the secretary to send his soldiers to search the Capitol. Two days passed, and still they could find no sign of Emily.

At this moment, the heavy door of the palace was slowly pushed open, and the secretary general walked in quickly to report the latest progress to Elijah, "Your Majesty, we have found a clue. It was a handyman from the palace kitchen. His name is Tony."

Elijah, sitting on the throne, frowned slightly, a cold light flashing in his eyes, "Go on."

The secretary general cleared his throat, "The man named Tony introduced Dolly to work in the palace, and it was Dolly who took Miss Emily. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Tony was a spy from the south who had been lurking in the palace for a long time trying to gain access to our secrets."

Elijah slammed the armrest so hard the throne made a dull thud, " Damn Southerners!" His anger burned in his eyes, as if it would consume everything.

"Bring them up here. " Elijah ordered.

Soon a group of men were escorted to the top of the hall by soldiers. They were members of the spy ring captured by the secretary-general. The men were chained hand and foot, and the clanking of the chains against each other was particularly jarring in the silent hall, as if it were a prelude to death. Their faces were full of alarm and distress.

Elijah slowly got up, he walked to the spies, his eyes sharply scanning each of them, "Who is Tony?"

The spies looked at each other with terror and hesitation in their eyes. A moment later a thin, shivering man, his hair dishevelled, his eyes full of fear, moved a step forward, and yet he forced himself to be calm. "I... am Tony." His voice was a little raspy, with a hint of tremor.

Elijah’s brows tightened as he walked up to Tony and looked at him condescendingly, "Were you the one who introduced Dolly to the palace and then helped Emily escape?"

Tony didn’t dare to look directly into Elijah’s eyes, he lowered his head and stammered, " I... I... I was just following orders."

" Whose orders were you following?" Elijah roared, and his voice raised such a storm in the great hall that it sent shivers down the spines of the spies.

Tony’s body jerked, his lips quivered, but he dared not speak again. He just stood there in horror.

One of the short-haired women looked up as she said, "It’s me."

Elijah’s eyes fell on the woman, " So you’re their leader?"

" I arranged all of this, Tony just did what I told him to do." The short haired woman said, " He doesn’t know anything."

Elijah snorted, " If you tell me now where Emily is, I will consider not killing you."

The short-haired woman looked at Elijah angrily, her tone was full of provocation, " You will never know where Emily is."

Elijah laughed aloud, and suddenly put his arm round the woman’s neck and lifted her up. His strength was so great that the woman’s feet left the ground in an instant, and she struggled desperately, her hands wringing vainly at Elijah’s iron grip, her face turning blue from lack of oxygen. The short-haired woman’s eyes began to bulge, the defiance in them gradually giving way to fear, but still obstinately refusing to utter a word.

" You think you can keep a secret?" Elijah’s voice was icy, there was no mercy in his eyes, and the force in his hands increased. He moved closer to the woman’s face, close enough to feel her sharp, weak breath, " No one can hide the truth from me."

A hissing sound came from the woman’s throat, like the last struggle of a dying man. The spies around her hung their heads, none daring to look up at the savage figure.

Presently the woman’s struggles grew fainter and fainter, her eyes began to grow slack, and her life faded away like a candle in the wind at Elijah’s hands. At last her body went limp, and Elijah, releasing his hold, dropped the woman to the ground like a rag doll with a dull thud.

Elijah looked at the body on the floor with an expressionless face, as if he had just crushed an insignificant bug. He slowly scanned the other spies, the warning in his eyes unmistakable, "This is what happens when you defy me. Now, who else wants to remain silent?"

A man with glasses dropped to his knees, his voice trembling, " Your Majesty... I know where Emily is."

Elijah scrutinized the man with the glasses, "You better tell the truth or you’ll end up worse off than her."

The man with the glasses nodded desperately and stammered, "It was... Prince Adam ordered us to get Emily out of the palace. We had Emily leave the West from the border, posing as an employee of a transportation company. She’s now in the palace in the south."

Elijah blushed, and wondered that Adam had ordered Emily to be taken away. Images of Adam and Emily together kept coming back to him. Was it love? Could it be that Adam is in love with Emily and that’s why he wants to take her away from him? Or was it something else?

After a moment’s silence, Elijah drew a deep breath, trying to calm the emotions raging within him. He spoke slowly, his voice low and full of authority, "Take all these men to be executed. No one left."

"Your Majesty, you promised not to kill me. " The man with the glasses pleaded.

"I never said that. "Elijah said and signaled the secretary general to take the spies away.

The secretary-general immediately ordered the soldiers to do the same. The spies uttered cries of despair and entreaties for mercy. They struggled, but were roughly dragged by the soldiers toward the outside of the temple. They struggled, but were roughly dragged by the soldiers to the outside of the hall. The chains dragged on the ground, making a piercing noise, which, mingled with the cries of the spies, echoed through the hall.

Elijah returned to his throne, his mind still wondering what the real relation was between Adam and Emily. At that moment, the secretary general came to Elijah’s side, and he whispered, "Your Majesty, just now the royal family in the south released a message. It is about Miss Emily."

" What message?" Elijah asked.

" The royal family of the south has announced that Miss Emily is King James’ own daughter and that she will be crowned a princess." The secretary-general said.

" I see." Elijah leaned back in his throne-chair. He finally understands why Adam brought Emily back to the South, so Emily is actually the King of the South’s biological daughter. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

As Emily was the Princess of the South, the King of the South would not easily return Emily to him. A thought came to Elijah’s mind, and he said to the secretary general, " Contact Dyson in the north for me at once and tell him that we have to speed up our plan to attack the south."

" Yes, your majesty. " The secretary general immediately complied.

Elijah’s fingers rubbed on the armrests of the throne, and the corners of his mouth hooked up into a cruel smile, " Emily, do you think that you can get rid of me by becoming the princess of the south? No matter where you are and what kind of identity you have, you will never be able to escape from me."

It seemed to Elijah at this moment that he had already seen the scene in which Emily would return to him, and the whole royal family of the South would be his stepping-stone.
