Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 221 - The Scarlet Wedding 2
A bullet had pierced the head of the guard, and blood was flying in all directions. The body of the guard fell heavily backward with a dull thud to the ground. Before anyone could react, a group of soldiers in black combat fatigues burst out of the darkness, raising their guns and strafing the Western soldiers in Army green.
" What happened?" Elijah’s countenance changed; he drew quickly to one side, his brows furrowed, his gaze watchful, his eyes full of suspicion and wariness as he watched the sudden group of black soldiers. Soon, he reacted, his face instantly becoming gloomy, gritting his teeth and whispering, " It’s the Northern Army."
At this moment there came a deafening roar from the sky, which seemed as if it would tear up the whole night. Emily looked up subconsciously only to see several combat helicopters hovering overhead in the pitch-black night sky, like steel behemoths emerging from the night, radiating a chilling sense of oppression. As the helicopters slowly descended, the guns on the fuselage sprayed blinding fire, precisely sweeping the group of Western troops from above. For a moment the dark night was lighted up as if it were day by the fire of the bursting shells, and growls and shouts mingled.
Black-clad warriors and Western troops engaged in a fierce gun battle. The Western troops were evidently taken by surprise by the suddenness of the attack, and their position was so disorganized that they could only return fire hastily, and were clearly at a disadvantage.
For some time the battle raged, and smoke filled the air over the whole square. The square was in chaos, with those initially held hostage screaming in terror and running for their lives. Some panicked and were unlucky enough to be hit by shrapnel, their bodies shaking violently and falling to the ground, where blood spread; Some darted as hard as they could toward the houses near by, recklessly trying to find some shelter from the rain of bullets. The whole scene was as chaotic as if it had been an inferno on earth.
" Grimm, take command of the Undead Legion immediately." Elijah commanded the dark wizard.
Emily took advantage of Elijah’s momentary distraction, and with a gleam of determination in her eyes, she rushed at Adam without a moment’s hesitation.
"Emily." Elijah’s cry came from behind, mingled with anger and urgency, but Emily simply ignored him.
Emily weaved in and out of the firing, her eyes glued to the front of the room, watching for bullets as they whizzed by. At length she reached Adam.
" Adam, are you okay?" Emily gently shook Adam’s shoulder, " Wake up, Adam."
" Emily." Adam slowly opened his eyes, "Leave me, run."
"No, I won’t leave you." Emily took a long time to pick up Adam, "I’ll get you out of here."
"Emily—" Dolly shouted Emily’s name while dragging her injured leg towards her.
A bomb exploded near Dolly and she was instantly shaken away by the heat wave." Dolly. "Emily watched as Dolly fell to the ground. She wants to help Dolly but cannot get away from Adam.
At that moment a man in a black combat suit rushed to Dolly’s side, and, under cover of his comrades, he picked up Dolly’s body and dashed as fast as he could into the nearest house.
" Come with me. " came a low voice and Emily looked up to see a warrior in a black combat suit appear in front of her. The man took Adam’s arm directly over his shoulder, then took him by the waist with one hand and led him away.
There were three warriors in black, who immediately came round to cover them. Emily didn’t hesitate. Immediately she followed the man.
The man entered the house. He laid Adam gently on the ground. Emily followed close behind the man. When she saw that the man who had saved Dolly was also in the house.
"Where is Dolly? " Emily asked anxiously.
"She’s hurt and unconscious. The warrior said, "I put her in the innermost room."
"Stay here, don’t go anywhere. " The soldier who saved Adam told Emily, "Wait for me to come back."
The man was about to turn and leave when Emily immediately grabbed his sleeve and asked, "Who are you?"
"Klaus, let’s go. " The other man urged.
"Wait here until I come back, love. " The man said and turned to leave.
Klaus, Klaus. Why does that name sound so strange? Oh, Emily remembered.
Dolly had told her that the Northern Alpha she had married was Klaus.
But why is he here?
Emily’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Adam’s violent cough. She rushed to check on Adam.
..............
She’s forgotten me. Klaus thought sadly.
The unfamiliar look in Emily’s eyes as she looked at him caused Klaus a momentary pang of heartache. But he did not continue to dwell on that sorrow, for he had to concentrate on the battle that lay before him.
"Klaus, it’s the Undead Legion," Marx warned loudly beside Klaus, his voice tinged with nervousness as he stared ahead at the group of undead warriors fighting with the Northern Army.
Klaus sees undead warriors with glowing red eyes battling the Northern Army. He had long since learned the strength of the undead. But this time, he came prepared.
"Tell the archers to get ready. " Klaus ordered.
Klaus had already ordered a mixture of mercury and Luparia to be applied to the metal arrows. It was a method the twins had already worked out for dealing with the undead.
"What if we still can’t kill the undead man this time? " Marx asked uncertainly.
"If this fails, you take Emily and they evacuate first. " Klaus’ tone was undeniable, his eyes never leaving the battlefield in front of him, "I’ll cover you."
Marx’s eyes stared for a moment, soon he came back to his senses before giving orders to the archers through the wireless transmission device, " Archers stand by, target the undead."
Presently the archers, who had been hidden in the rear, rushed out under cover of the sniping warriors. Taking a firm position, they soon gained a good position, and drew their bows and arrows, and for a moment the silvery shafts, densely packed, rained down upon the bodies of the dead. The undead, who had been struck by the arrows, instantly collapsed, like puppets whose supports had been taken away, and lay heavily paralyzed and motionless on the ground.
" We did it." Marx spoke excitedly, his eyes glistening with excitement, and his face, which had been tense, quite soothed, as if he saw before him the dawn of victory.
But an instant later, something strange caught the keen eye of Klaus. He saw a hunched figure whispering something to the fallen undead, as if casting some mysterious and evil spell. Elijah stood beside the hunchbacked man, his face grim, he loudly urged, "Quickly use your magic to make them stand up."
Presently the undead, who had fallen to the ground, rose slowly to their feet, their arrows lodged in their bodies making a slight noise as they moved, and staring angrily at the Northern troops with their scarlet eyes and the hissing sounds that issued from their mouths. Then the undead charged the archers of the Northern army at breakneck speed.
"Damn. " Klaus gripped the weapon in his hand as he said to Marx, "Kill the wizard."
