Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 28 My Nominal Husband is Actually a Prince
When Emily awoke, she felt as if she had just finished a long run, with a faint, tearing pain in her lower body. The thought of what had happened to her and Klaus on the deck was inconceivable to her.
It had all come so suddenly, yet it seemed as if it was exactly as intended.
Klaus stood shirtless by the window, his lower body wrapped in a white bath towel, the moonlight casting a glow on his perfectly muscled back as he stood motionless, gazing out to sea.
"Are you awake?" He turned his head to look at Emily.
"Did I sleep for a long time?" Emily yawned.
"It’s not been too long," Klaus replied, walking over to the bed. He looked down at Emily and said, "If you want, you can go back to sleep."
"I can’t sleep now," Emily said after a moment of silence.
"What are you thinking?" Klaus sat down on the bed and leaned sideways, closer to Emily.
"I’m just thinking," Emily said, staring at the chandelier on the ceiling. "That’s how we did that," she added.
"What’s the matter?"
"You know, it’s just the kind of thing," Emily swallowed, feeling a little embarrassed to say so.
"You mean, sex?" Emily asked.
"Yes, that’s what I meant," Klaus replied, his voice low and magnetic. "Are you not satisfied with my performance?"
"I can do it again," he offered.
"No, no, no." Emily hurriedly explained, "I didn’t mean that. I’m sure you’re doing better than anyone else."
"Have you tried other men?" Klaus asked angrily. "Tell me who he is."
"No, I haven’t let any other man touch me," Emily assured him.
Emily felt that the misunderstanding was too great, but her mind seemed to be in a state of confusion, and she did not know how to explain it all at once.
"I’m just wondering if we’re going too fast," Emily said, sitting up and covering herself with a sheet. "At first, I thought we were just an agreement couple, and then it got to this point where I, I didn’t even know enough about you."
"It’s never too late to start," Klaus said, hugging Emily from behind and pulling her back against his chest. "Anything you want to know about me, I’m not going to hide it from you."
"Anything?" Emily asked.
"Just ask," Klaus encouraged her.
Emily thought for a moment, then said, "When I was taken to the palace by the princess’s men, I heard two princesses call you big brother, and they seemed to be afraid of you..."
"Maggie and Mina are my half-sisters, and their mother is the current queen," Klaus revealed.
Emily turned to look at Klaus in surprise, her voice full of confusion. "They’re your sisters?"
Klaus nodded, his expression a little heavy.
"So you’re a prince?" Emily pressed on.
"I used to be," Klaus replied briskly, with a hint of helplessness in his tone.
"What?" Emily was visibly shocked by this answer.
Klaus paused for a moment, as if reminiscing about the past, and then said slowly, "My father stripped me of my title."
"Why would he do that?" Emily asked, puzzled.
Klaus’s eyes deepened, and his voice lowered. "Because of my mother." After a while, he continued slowly, "My mother was once the queen, and she was sentenced to death by my father on suspicion of rebellion."
Emily couldn’t help feeling a chill at his words. She whispered, "So, is that why the king has stripped you of your princely status?"
Klaus shook his head, and there was a deep pain in his voice. "No, because he asked me to come and try my mother, and he wanted me to witness my mother’s execution."
Emily couldn’t imagine how Klaus must have suffered when faced with such a choice. She pressed his hand gently, offering him some comfort.
"As a result of my disobedience to the king’s orders, and in order to punish me, the king announced the revocation of my princely status. So when I was nineteen years old, I left the palace and joined the army, and then I built my own pack," Klaus explained.
"So now that you’re on a rift with your father, are you at ease?" Emily asked.
"Sort of," Klaus said lightly. "He only restored some of my privileges for the sake of the few victories I had won for him, but I still don’t belong to the royal family."
Emily noticed that Klaus’s tone had grown dull, and she was keenly aware of the shift in his mood. She understood that the subject might touch a sensitive spot or make him uncomfortable, so she changed the subject.
"I heard you say that you are going to punish Princess Maggie and Princess Mina. What are you going to do to them?"
"It’s just that they go to the mountains to pick mushrooms," Klaus said lightly. "It’s not a punishment, it’s just a way for them to experience the hardships of ordinary people."
"Is that guy named Dyson your brother too?" Emily asked.
"He was the illegitimate son of my father and a slave, and although he also lived in the court from an early age, he did not receive any royal titles," Klaus replied.
"So Dyson..." Emily began, but before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Klaus.
"Do we have to talk about other people all night?" Klaus asked, turning Emily’s body so that she fell sideways into his arms. He pressed her chin tenderly.
"If you don’t want to sleep, we can do something more fun," Klaus suggested, his eyes glinting with a mischievous light.
Emily knew what he was implying, so she quickly replied, "I want to sleep."
"But you just said you couldn’t sleep," Klaus countered.
"I’m asleep now," Emily said, immediately closing her eyes, lying down, and pretending to be fast asleep.
Klaus chuckled as he lay down beside her, his arm wrapping around her.
"You’re holding me so tightly, I’m not used to sleeping in this position," Emily protested quietly. The bed was evidently large, so why did he have to squeeze in with her?
"Oh, dear, then you have to learn to get used to it from now on," Klaus whispered in her ear. "Because I’m going to sleep like this every night. Remember, it’s every night."

"I hate mushroom picking!" a shrill cry resounded through the valley, startling the birds that had hitherto inhabited the forest. They fluttered and flew about in fright.
"It’s all your fault, Maggie," Princess Mina complained, carrying the basket on her back, the hem of her dress stained with mud. "I told you to stay away from that bastard Dyson."
"It’s all your fault, Mina," Princess Maggie retorted, placing a dark gray mushroom in the basket behind her back. She crossed her arms and said, "It’s because you’re so curious about that southern bride that you came up with the bad idea to kidnap her. It was you who annoyed Klaus."
"Shut up, Maggie," Princess Mina said, pausing to think. "Klaus is no longer a prince, so why should we be afraid of him?"
"Because he can take our heads off at any moment, and he always does what he says," Princess Maggie sneered. "Why don’t you say this to Klaus’s face, you coward?"
Marx, who was standing by as an overseer, coughed twice and reminded the princesses, "Princesses, it’s almost dawn, and if you don’t finish picking the mushrooms on this mountain before dawn, Alpha will punish you even more."
"Shut up, you faithful dog," Princess Mina said, displeased. "Do you think I don’t know the consequences? But you see, the mountain is so high that it’s impossible for us to pick all the mushrooms before dawn."
"Why don’t you want to help us?" Princess Maggie asked. "There is no one else here, and you can tell Klaus that we have picked all the mushrooms according to his instructions."
"I’m sorry, I can’t fool Alpha," Marx replied in a serious tone. As Beta, he could not do anything disloyal to Alpha, and he knew very well how serious the consequences of deceiving Klaus would be.
"He’s a piece of wood, Maggie," Princess Mina said sarcastically. "Don’t waste time on him."
"Oh, what did I step on?" Princess Maggie looked down at her feet and screamed loudly.
"Shut up, Maggie."
"I hate picking mushrooms, I hate stepping on them," she complained.
