Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 51 Be not afraid, I am coming
The two dog-slaves growled and pounced upon Emily, who quickly turned on her side, and with one hand clenched her saber and stabbed the dog-slave who was coming at her with the other.
Instead of stabbing the dog-slaves in the body, however, the saber stabbed them in the air.
A tall man in camouflage seemed to drop from the sky, and he landed firmly in front of Emily. The necks of the two dog-slaves were so tightly clasped in the hands of the man that, in less than a few seconds, only the sound of broken bones could be heard echoing through the trees.
The dog-slaves, who had just now been unusually ferocious, lost their voices at once, their legs went perpendicular in mid-air, and their bright red eyes turned a dull red. The moment the man let go, the two dog-slaves fell to the ground like broken kites in mid-air, without a sound.
Emily looked at the man in front of her; his back looked familiar, and just as she was not sure, the man in camouflage turned his head.
"Klaus." Emily exclaimed.
Klaus put his forefinger between his lips and motioned to Emily not to speak. When he discovered Emily’s injured arm, he immediately ripped off a corner of his own clothing and tied it around Emily’s wound.
"You’re hurt, was it the Dog slaves who bit you?" Klaus asked in a low voice.
"Yes."
"I’ve got to get you out of here." Klaus said as he half-crouched down, "Come to my back."
"But I haven’t cut off the ears of those two dog slaves yet." Emily had not forgotten that they were competing. The dog-slaves she had just now managed to kill had been robbed by some one else, and she could not allow any one else to take advantage of them this time.
Klaus shook his head helplessly, and had to cut off the ears of the two dog-slaves with Emily’s saber, and put them in Emily’s pocket.
"Can we go now?" Klaus asked.
Emily nodded, and she climbed on Klaus’s back. His back was thick and strong, and as she lay upon it a sense of security swelled within her.
"Hold on to me." Klaus said.
"Okay."
Klaus then carries Emily through the jungle on his back, skirting uninhabited paths before coming to a wall of trees.
Klaus gently lowered Emily, and he walked directly toward the dense wall of trees, and in the dim moonlight Emily saw Klaus break the branches before him with his hands, and then a path appeared that would admit of two people walking together.
"Come here." Klaus said to Emily.
Emily stepped into the dark alleyway, and Klaus raised the surrounding branches with both hands to keep them from scratching Emily. They took a few steps forward, and then a circular clearing opened out before them.
"Where is this?" Emily asked curiously, and there, in the middle of the clearing, was a little cottage covered with vines.
"This was my secret base when I was a kid." Klaus said, "Come, let’s go to the cabin."
He helped Emily into the cabin, which had been so long untidy that it smelled of damp and must, and the vines, which had grown wildly, were already spreading through the windows.
They did not, however, wish to live here, but only used the cabin as a temporary residence. Klaus asks Emily to sit on a stool made of tree roots, which he tells her about.
"Stay here and don’t go anywhere. Wait till I come back. "
"Where are you going?" Emily asked uneasily.
"I’ll get you some medicine for your wounds." Klaus crouched down, and he took Emily’s hand, trying to soothe her in this way.
"I’ll be back soon." Klaus said softly, "I promise you. "
Emily nodded, and Klaus released Emily’s hand as he left the cabin.
Sitting alone in the cabin, with the thin moonlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Emily looked about her, trying to read Klaus’s past in every object in the cabin.
Emily saw a home-made wooden sword and shield hanging from the wall, as well as toys carved from tree roots, all of which had worn out over time, but whose presence was a clear testament to the childhood a child once had.
"He must have been very happy when he was younger." Emily muttered to herself, and when she saw the carved image of a mother holding the hand of a boy, and playing with her own carved image on the wall, she felt a sudden ache in her nose. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"His mom must have loved him too."
Emily’s eyes moistened, and a deep sadness came over her. The thought of the mother she had never known pierced her heart with a sharp arrow. Lacking maternal affection from childhood, she often fantasized about her mother’s warm embrace and tender gaze on lonely nights. In spite of the lapse of time, this sense of absence had swallowed up her emotional depths like a black hole, leaving her with an indescribable sense of emptiness and longing from time to time.
As Emily is absorbed in her thoughts of her mother, a sharp pain shoots through her injured arm, and the sudden pain pulls her back from her memories to reality. The pain spread like fire through her nerves, screaming at every nerve ending.
Immediately afterwards, Emily felt as if her chest were being blocked by a huge rock, and she was so depressed that she could not breathe.
........
When Klaus left the cabin he ran as fast as he could toward the swampy woods. He was well aware that the fangs of the dog-slaves contained venom, and that if the wounds received from them were not attended to in time, the venom would soak into the body, and even cause a man to faint for a short time.
While the venom on the fangs of the werewolf is not fatal to the werewolf, the process of being injured can be painful. In addition, Emily does not possess a wolf, meaning she is weaker than the average werewolf, and he must speed up his pace to heal her before the venom can fully invade her body.
Presently Klaus came to the edge of the swampy wood, where rare herbs grew around the roots of the pines. He scanned his surroundings with a keen gaze, searching carefully for herbs in the faint moonlight.
At last he found the herb under a huge pine tree. It is a peculiar plant with yellow clover-like flowers, and grows mixed with weeds, and is not so easily found by the common people.
Klaus showed his wolfish claws, first clearing the weeds from around the yellow clover before carefully uprooting it.
At last he pocketed the herb, and was about to depart when he caught a sickening smell in the air.
"What are you hiding there for? Dyson." Klaus’s tone was cold, and there was a hint of wariness and discontent in his eyes.
"You’re still as alert as ever." sneered Dyson, coming out of the darkness with a hint of cunning and confidence. He did not seem surprised at Klaus’s alertness.
"What do you want to do?" There was a hint of caution and impatience in Klaus’s voice.
"Why are you wearing the guard’s clothes?" Dyson glanced at Klaus, and he said smartly, "I see, you want to help your bride win the title, right?"
Klaus was silent, his mind racing as he pondered how to get rid of the difficult fellow before him as quickly as possible.
"Klaus, no wonder you’re not interested in this game." continued Dyson defiantly, his voice full of sarcasm.
"Maybe you prefer something a little more exciting?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That’s right, I like more exciting games." There was an inscrutable note in Klaus’s voice, and his tone suddenly grew calm and deep.
The next second, he swung his fist and smashed it straight at Dyson.
