Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 105: The Day Emma Faced Her Blood Father
The privacy suite of the latest model Bentley Mulsanne offered Emma a comforting warmth, but she couldn’t relax and enjoy the coziness it offered. She kept looking outside through the electrochromic window. Suddenly, the tint level of the glass began to change as the car moved at full speed and she couldn’t see outside clearly again. She turned her head and stared at her mate. He grinned and pulled her closer. She guess he tinted the window to get her attention.
She relaxed her head on his shoulder again and kept wondering what Ashley would say. Emily had been through a lot and she didn’t want him to say anything that would make her unhappy.
Lunara once said that her name is synonymous with rejection and she wondered if she would be walked out or welcomed with open arms. The terrible comment he made last moonfall began to create fear in her head, making her believe she would be rejected. She didn’t know what happened to her courage. She guess wolves all lose courage at some point in their lives. At this point, she lost hope completely.
The electrochromic window switched to a clearer tint again when they got to the almighty private road. All the security warriors in military uniform stood up and stood at attention as soon as they sighted the kingdom’s territory flags that were on all the vehicles. One of them released a gunshot into the air. She guess he did that to notify the high fang regent of their arrival. None of them moved until they drove past them.
She wondered what would be going on in Emily’s mind, knowing fully well that that was the same road she was not allowed to take twenty-three winters ago. Life really chooses who to favor honestly and it is quite unfair. Life is indeed a tragedy for the poor and it is unfair. She think life should offer wolves the opportunity to choose their own fate. She know every wolf would choose to be rich or born into a noble pack.
Ashley’s villa was the only pack mansion on that street. The satisfactorily organized trees gave the road the most ravishing perspective ever seen.
The chauffeur of the first car really knows his way. She was anticipating he would pull over when they drove into the big compound which has more than one thousand varieties of trees, but he kept moving towards the big villa.
Two glass doors segregated and revealed a basement with more than twenty exotic alpha’s road machines. Some of the cars had the kingdom’s territory flags on them. There were more than ten escort bikes and each of them had the territory flag. Emma turned her head when she had glimpsed enough and saw Brandon smiling at her perplexity, which she did not even try to repress a bit. She shamefully lowered her head and he laughed again.
They got down when the door opened. Brandon vanished instantly and she didn’t know the direction he took because she was busy looking around. After a few minutes, she saw him coming out of Emily’s car. He walked up to Emma and held her hand as they walked towards the exit.
She reduced her step and began to look around again. All the guards that were walking behind them reduced theirs too.
The beautiful compound has a landing site for flying beasts and four Olympic pools on the premises. There was also a golf area, a tennis court, and a mini-basketball court. There were cameras and security warriors in every nook and cranny. She wondered how the kidnappers who kidnapped his mate beat such security.
She kept her face straight again and continued walking when she had sufficiently grazed her eyes. They walked into the magnificent antechamber with glass walls. The sofa in the antechamber faced one of the Olympic pools that were outside the villa. Brandon’s guards surrounded the place. She looked around, but she did not see Emily. She guessed she was nervous and couldn’t come inside. She stood up immediately. Her mate knew why she stood up and quickly grabbed her hand.
"I told her to wait behind," he whispered.
"Why?"
"Let’s see him first and hear what he has to say about her. I don’t want Emily to hear anything that would make her emotional."
"Me too," she murmured and moved closer to him. It was as if he knew what she was mulling over. Emily had been through a lot and did not deserve any icky words that wouldn’t give her mind pleasure.
"I’ll tell her when to come in."
"Alright."
She relaxed on his shoulder as she admired the Olympic pool. A she-wolf, who she supposed was his moonmate because of two guards that stood on the four edges of the pool, was lying on a luxury sun lounger, soaking up the sun with her eyes safeguarded with sunglasses.
"I’m just wondering how the kidnappers beat this security."
"He tightened his security after the death of his mate, I guess." Brandon shrugged.
"Is that his moonmate?"
"One of his moonmates."
"She is gorgeous," she said and lifted her head when another she-wolf came out of the pool.
"Is she also his moonmate?"
"Yes"
"What!!"
"Moonheart, don’t shout; he is single," Brandon grinned and relaxed her head back on his shoulder.
"Emily is single and she does not have a moonmate."
"Is that what she told you?" Brandon smirked.
"No, but she did not tell us anything about moving on with a wolf when she was narrating her story."
"Probably she did not get to that part."
"Do you think she is seeing somewolf?"
"She is young and pretty; I think she is seeing somewolf."
They kept quiet again and continued staring at the she-wolves that lay close to each other. They were talking and laughing as though they were siblings.
After about thirty-five minutes, a tall wolf dressed in a black suit walked into the lobby and bowed.
"Moonrise, Moon Prince Brandon Oliver Frostbane."
Brandon waved at him without uttering a word.
"The High Fang Regent is really sorry for keeping you waiting. He was in a virtual meeting with his colleagues. The meeting ended a while ago and he is ready to see you. Please, come with me."
They stood up and followed him, but none of the guards moved an inch. She guessed they knew the limit they could go.
The tall security worrior led them to a glass elevator and they entered. They stepped off at the fifth level of the mansion. They were led to the high Fang’s private suite with a mini aquarium. The aquarium gave the lounge a beach view.
Emma’s heart bounced when she saw him standing in front of his wine cellar, pouring wine into a glass for himself. She didn’t get his height at all, Ken did. They are as tall as her mate.
Draped in an ivory Bahrani thobe kissed by the glow of the full moon, and paired with pristine white leather slippers forged from rare alligator hide, his presence carried the unmistakable aura of an Alpha—refined, commanding, and steeped in quiet, lethal elegance. Ashley was backing them but Emma never knew he was also looking at her the same way she was scrutinizing him until she looked at the mirror that was in the wine cellar and saw his eyes. She quickly looked away when their eyes met.
He turned after a few minutes and began to walk towards them. Her heart skipped again and began to beat very fast.
"M... moonrise, alpha," she greeted him. Brandon stood up and did the same with a handshake. He urged him to sit down. He sat on a big lounger that faced his aquarium and dropped his glass of wine beside him. His ivory Bahrani covered his legs and she could only see his pristine white leather slippers.
"Help yourselves," he said and pointed at the wine cellar. Brandon stood up and walked in the direction of the wine cellar, leaving just him and Emma in the lounge. She fixed her eyes on the aquarium and pretended she was admiring the fishes, wishing Brandon would hurry up and join them, but he kept reading the names on the wine bottles, apparently looking for his favorite or a wine with a lower volume of alcohol. Ashley breathed in as though he wanted to say something and Emma shuddered inwardly. He lifted the glass of wine he kept beside him and took a sip.
"How are you?" He asked after taking a sip from his glass. She kept quiet, fixed her eyes on the aquarium, and pretended she didn’t hear what he asked.
"I’m asking you," he said after a few seconds.
"W...what?" She stammered. Her fear was so apparent and he noticed and didn’t repeat his question again. He fixed his eyes on the aquarium instead.
Brandon joined them with two glasses of wine and gave her one. The slippery glass slipped off her palm and shattered on the floor. The drink also spilled everywhere. Ashley took his legs down from the lounger and stared at the mess on the floor. He slowly lifted his face and fixed his eyes on Emma. It wasn’t intentional and she wished he would understand that she didn’t mean to mess his beautiful lounge.
Then she heard it again, another surprising question from Ashley Ashford, Emma’s blood father.
