America 1919-Chapter 900 - 307, Quanter Family_3
So when Donnie finished his trip to Germany and prepared to head to the United Kingdom, Max Woburg and Sigmund Woburg once again discussed Donnie’s situation.
"It’s certain that Donnie’s primary purpose for coming to Germany this time is to prepare Venus Bank’s entry into the military sector in the future. During this period, Donnie not only met with Gustav and Günther one after another but also visited several universities, where he engaged in conversations with many young people!"
Sigmund Woburg was tasked with monitoring Donnie’s activities throughout his trip to Germany.
"Which universities did he visit?"
Max Woburg asked.
"There were Munich University, Heidelberg University, Aachen University of Technology, and Göttingen University. And Donnie made donations to each of these universities!"
Sigmund Woburg explained.
Max Woburg slightly frowned and remarked, "Munich University, Heidelberg University, Aachen University of Technology make sense—after all, these universities have strong engineering schools. But what’s Donnie doing at Göttingen University?
Göttingen University, while also considered prestigious, is particularly renowned for law and philosophy, isn’t it?"
Sigmund Woburg casually replied, "Maybe Donnie likes philosophy. He even specifically went to the philosophy department at Göttingen University to chat with the students there!"
Max Woburg slightly shook his head, not believing that someone at Donnie’s level would engage in meaningless actions.
"Who did he meet at Göttingen University?"
Sigmund Woburg explained, "Quite many—all students. I’ve already had them investigated; there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about those students. Oh, but there were a few people from the East!"
Max Woburg waved dismissively, "Easterners aren’t worth paying attention to; the region currently holds little commercial value!"
The two of them pondered for quite some time but couldn’t figure out why Donnie visited Göttingen University. In the end, they chalked it up to Donnie’s apparent interest in philosophy.
Of course, they would never guess that Donnie’s visit to Göttingen University was indeed for those few Easterners.
However, during their meeting, Donnie didn’t express much—just left a good impression on each other.
Perhaps someday in the future, this goodwill might become the Block family’s ticket into the Eastern market!
"Donnie, I’ve already contacted the Rothschild family. Once you arrive in the United Kingdom, they will reach out to you!"
As Donnie prepared to leave, Max Woburg informed him.
Donnie expressed his gratitude for this.
"But I’m sure the Rothschild family will make exorbitant demands, so I hope you’re mentally prepared for that."
Max Woburg stated.
Although Zhan Ning Woburg was now with Donnie, in truth, the Woburg family had far broader and deeper ties with the Rothschild family.
Max Woburg’s phrasing was merely an effort to preemptively frame an inevitable outcome, subtly positioning their relationship as more intimate.
"Understood!"
Donnie didn’t comment further. It was a given that the Rothschild family would drive a hard bargain, but Donnie wasn’t burdened by it emotionally.
The true strength of the Rothschild family lies within Europe, although they also wield considerable influence in the United States today.
Still, as far as Donnie was concerned, their influence wasn’t insurmountable.
Moreover, Donnie knew that the Rothschild family had always wanted to establish a stronger base in the United States. In this regard, the Rothschilds would likely seize this opportunity to negotiate with him.
Most importantly, given the actions of certain speculative entities in various countries, the Rothschild family wasn’t having an easy time of it.
These were all points that Donnie could leverage!
Meanwhile, Zhan Ning Woburg was bidding farewell to her mother. Though her eyes were red, no tears fell—this had been her mother’s admonition.
Zhan Ning Woburg had grown accustomed to obeying her mother’s commands.
If this were in later years, Donnie could simply drive from Germany to the United Kingdom. But in this era, Donnie could only travel by train.
Utilizing the Woburg family’s influence, Donnie directly reserved an entire train compartment.
At this point, Steve Cotting, who had been elusive, appeared in Donnie’s private compartment.
"Boss, I’ve met with Little Mustache, but he’s clearly a greedy fellow. Before even saying anything, he asked us to sponsor him with $50,000,000—with no explanation of what he planned to do with the money!"
Steve Cotting did not have an enjoyable encounter with Little Mustache.
For such an outcome, Donnie could certainly understand—Little Mustache wouldn’t have achieved so much if he were easily bought.
Besides, at this time, Little Mustache seemed to be riding a wave of success. His low point wouldn’t come until November this year.
Donnie sending Steve Cotting to meet Little Mustache now was merely to build some familiarity. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Did you give him the money?" Donnie asked with a smile.
"Of course not!" Steve Cotting replied matter-of-factly.
Donnie agreed with Steve Cotting’s behavior. There’s a saying from the East: "A pushy approach won’t lead to a deal."
Being overly proactive can end up making one less respected... and this holds true in romantic relationships as well.
"Let it sit for a while. When you meet him again in a few months, things will be different!"
"A few months later?" Steve Cotting looked at Donnie in surprise; their schedule wouldn’t allow them to stay in Europe for that long.
Donnie explained, "When we leave, you’ll stay back in Germany. Officially, it will be to scout for more technical talents for us in Germany, but in reality, you’ll be closely observing Little Mustache’s actions and reporting everything to me through encrypted letters."
Steve Cotting never expected that his European trip would result in him staying behind in Germany!
