An Owl's Rise-Chapter 472 Preparing to Enter the Aethersphere
"So, there’s a risk to my suggestion. But is there a possibility that it might work?"
Evelyn was no stranger to threats to her life. She had experienced unimaginable pain so many times that she had lost count already. So long as there was a chance of success, she would trudge forward no matter how harrowing it was.
That was her resolve.
The embodiment of the Aethersphere did not respond, but that was all Evelyn needed to know.
It remained silent because a response would confirm that Evelyn was correct. Perhaps it did not believe it could get away with lying to her, or maybe the divine artifact was incapable of doing so to begin with.
"I’m not just going to wait around if there is something that I can do. If you’re not going to help me, then get out of my way." Evelyn said waving her hand and pushing the ball of purple light aside.
This was the manifestation of her own inner world, so she was the one with all of the power here.
Though it was entwined with her, the Aethersphere had no real power over Evelyn. If it did, the divine item would not have allowed her to draw out more of its power than she could control in the first place.
However, if she was going to force the issue, the Aethersphere, which wanted to preserve itself at least wanted to give her the best chance of success.
It conveyed to her that having more magical energy being absorbed into her body would be an immeasurable asset.
Images of her drinking potions, breaking down magic crystals, and even receiving external magic from healing flashed through Evelyn’s mind.
"That’s great and all, but how would I convey that to the others? Bylur’s giving me a constant supply of his life magic, but that’s obviously not enough for what you have shown me."
Right now, Evelyn’s mind was cut off from her body.
Her consciousness had retreated into her inner world so that she might be able to repair some of the damage done to her.
Honestly, it was all a bit convoluted to her, and she was not a hundred percent certain that this was not some delusion her dying mind had come up with to protect herself.
Still, from her past experience, delusion or not, she felt that there was meaning in what she did here. Perhaps even the illusion that she was fixing herself could bring about results in reality. This was a world of magic after all.
The Aethersphere showed Evelyn images of what was going on around her body despite the fact that she was unconscious. Somehow it could perceive the outside world.
Aralee was holding Evelyn in her arms as their group quickly flew in a single direction.
Bylur was floating close by, and at regular intervals he would direct his life magic into Evelyn to keep her condition stable.
This magical connection was what the Aethersphere homed in one. It was telling Evelyn that she might be able to use her own magical energy to communicate when Bylur made contact with her.
"Got it, I’ll give it a try." Evelyn said, focusing within herself.
Her beast core was damaged, but her human magic core was still in perfect shape. They were two different centers of power and the Aethersphere was linked to her beast core because she had not developed a magic core at the time it was implanted into her body.
While time was difficult to gauge within her inner world, outside it took Evelyn several hours before she was even able to convey the faintest hint of her will to Bylur during one of his healing sessions.
When he just began receding his magical energy from her, Evelyn sent out the smallest pulse of her own along with it.
Her message was unclear, hardly even a feeling. Still, Bylur noticed due to his attentive care for Evelyn.
Immediately he extended a strand of pure magical energy instead of healing magic. The manner in which they had all first learned to communicate with each other. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Of course, in Evelyn’s current state, she was unable to convey anything in words or even complex emotions.
Her consciousness was in an unnatural state right now, and breaking through to Bylur was far from easy.
Eventually, though he was able to understand one thing at least. That Evelyn needed more magical energy. In whatever form that it might take.
"That was tougher than I thought it was going to be."
Evelyn felt exhausted by simply conveying the message what essentially amounted to "more magic" to Bylur.
Still, thanks to the Aethersphere giving her a brief glimpse as to what was going on outside of her body, Evelyn knew that her friend had understood her and was relaying the information to everyone else.
Naturally, the Aethersphere could not continuously show Evelyn what was going on around her. Doing so took up a great deal of its own magical energy reserves thanks to it heavily damaged state. Had things not been desperate for it right now, then the divine item never would have even shown itself to Evelyn.
"I suppose that we just need to wait now." Evelyn said once her view of the outside vanished.
She had heard Bylur conferring with the others, and they were going to wait until they reached the Verdant Warlord’s Domain before they began trying to infuse Evelyn’s body with more magical energy.
As things stood there were bound to be people looking into the commotion that they had caused. If someone powerful caught up to them now, they would be hard-pressed to defend themselves. All of them were still exhausted from the earlier battle, and Evelyn was out for the count and would only be dead weight.
Fortunately, if there were any pursuers after them, they did not catch up before Evelyn’s companions reached the Forest of Giants.
Once inside, they concealed their presences and took a very roundabout path to reach the entrance to the Verdant Warlord’s Doman. Just in case anyone did try to track them this far.
