Chapter 271: Chapter 271: Team Up to Seal the Shadow Projection!

No fancy moves. Two simple slashes cut through Diablo’s second layer of consciousness.

Camilla used her mental power and the ghost familiars to break the second layer of his mind. "Second layer, removed!"

Diablo’s body went weak. If not for the ice pillar holding him, he would have fallen to the ground.

"Just one more step." Camilla said, pale-faced. "The Shadow Beings’ core is like a seed inside his spine. It has to be pulled out completely."

She turned to Dominic. "Can you freeze part of the space?"

"Yes, but only for five seconds," Dominic said. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Enough!" Solon pulled his sword again, determined. "You freeze. I pull it out."

Dominic opened his familiar space. An ice eel appeared and shot out freezing frost.

In an instant, the whole space inside the crystal shield was frozen. Diablo’s body became stiff.

At the same time, Solon slashed. He cut through the Shadow Beings’ tentacles around it.

The Shadow Beings struggled wildly, shooting shadow energy to attack, but Solon’s blade kept them under control.

Five seconds later, the Shadow Beings were completely removed.

Solon put his sword back in its sheath, held it in his hand, and crushed it. Black dust spread out.

Dominic broke the ice. Diablo fell to the ground, his red eyes slowly clearing. "It’s over?"

"Yeah, it’s over," Camilla said, closing her mental power. "But the Shadow Beings did a lot of damage to your nerves—especially your spine. You’ll need a long time to heal."

Diablo stayed silent for a moment, then laughed weakly and relieved. "Thanks. Thanks for letting me stay myself until the end."

He said: "But just removing the Shadow Beings isn’t enough. I’m still connected to Shadow."

Solon’s face darkened. "What do you mean?"

Diablo looked at the corner of the prison. "It means, as long as I’m alive, the link will stay."

He struggled, then stood up slowly. "Please, undo my chains. I have one last thing to do."

Solon stared at Diablo for a few seconds, then nodded.

He walked to the energy column and cut through the chains with one slash.

The chains fell off with a clank. Diablo took a few steps and finally stood steady.

He took a deep breath. His red hair moved without wind.

20-star marks appeared around him. The surrounding fire became pure and burning hot.

"I will clean my sins with my own body!"

Diablo made a hand sign. A complex light pattern appeared on his chest. This was the real link to Shadow. It wasn’t the Shadow Beings—it was a deeper rune array, engraved in his soul.

When they saw this, Solon, Camilla, and Dominic all sighed.

They knew that a rune array engraved in the soul couldn’t be easily removed. To destroy it would mean to destroy Diablo himself.

Diablo knew this. So he decided to end his story in a grand way.

"Fire of Hell, burn the link! Burn me too, and turn us both to ash!"

The light pattern exploded. The red fire turned into a dragon, swallowing the black line. The fire spread along the line, burning through the underground and shooting up into the sky.

In the air, Shadow screamed. The second anchor point was broken!

Solon, Camilla, and Dominic stood in silence, watching the empty tunnel. No words were said.

On the other side.

At thirty meters below the Federation Bank.

A big anti-magic metal door. Corleone family’s familiar tamer surrounded the bank staff.

Old Corleone stood next to Evelynna. His eyes were cold, watching the bank guards and the head of the Federation Bank, Malcolm.

Right now, Malcolm was standing in front of the control panel in the underground vault, his hands flying over the screen.

His eyes were completely black, and his face showed no emotion — he had been fully controlled by the Shadow Beings.

Old Corleone saw this and said slowly: "Malcolm, stop what you’re doing. You’re going the wrong way!"

Malcolm didn’t look up. His fingers moved even faster across the screen.

When he typed the last line of code, he finally lifted his head and laughed coldly. "Too late. The core of the Federation’s financial database is right here. Soon, this place will blow up!"

Evelynna said coldly: "Then kill him now and stop the explosion."

"You can’t kill me." Malcolm laughed. "As soon as I die, the bomb will go off."

The Shadow Beings had placed a mind trigger in his brain. As soon as he died, it would activate, and the bomb would explode early.

Old Corleone raised his hand to stop Evelynna. He looked at the security guards and said, "Are you all going to die with him?"

The security captain bit his lip. "We didn’t know the manager was controlled."

"Now you do," Old Corleone said. "Put down your weapons and step back. I promise you won’t be punished."

The captain hesitated for a few seconds, then lowered his gun.

The other guards followed, putting their weapons down and moving to the corner.

Malcolm laughed. "Stupid! Even if you take control, you can’t stop the bomb."

Everyone looked troubled.

Then Fischl suddenly smiled. "There’s always a way to stop an explosion — whether by hacking the code or cutting the wires. You won’t escape my control."

She raised her hand. A black mist appeared in her palm, turning into a crow.

The crow spread its wings and flew silently into Malcolm’s body, starting to read everything about him.

In the vault, everyone saw Malcolm tense up and start to cry out in pain.

Ten seconds later, Fischl raised an eyebrow. "I found it. But the Shadow Beings are trying to trick me. They’ve added a lot of fake memories. I need time to break through."

"How long?" Old Corleone asked.

"At least ten minutes," Fischl said, her voice cold. "But the bomb will blow up in three."

She hadn’t even finished speaking when a strong energy wave suddenly shook the vault.

A crack opened in the center of the vault. Logan, Natalia, Sophia, and Lucia stepped out through it.

They all looked injured. Logan had a wound on his chest that hadn’t fully healed.

"Did you just show up?" Vincent raised an eyebrow and threw Logan a cigarette. Logan caught it and put it into his familiar space.

"We felt the energy from the Shadow Mine bomb." Logan said casually. He turned to Old Corleone. "What’s the situation?"

Old Corleone quickly explained. Logan looked at Malcolm and used his 35-star mental power to scan him completely.

"Shadow Beings are in the front part of his brain, three centimeters deep," Logan said, looking at Malcolm’s eyes. "That’s right, isn’t it, Shadow?"

Malcolm smiled widely. "Logan, what are you going to do?"

"Simple." Logan said. He sent a mind shock that broke Malcolm’s consciousness. The Shadow Beings were cut off from his mind.

Then Logan walked to the control panel and looked at the countdown on the screen. "No time to hack the code. We’ll just remove the bomb’s core."

Old Corleone frowned. "The bomb is surrounded by walls that are tens of meters thick. And there’s definitely a defense from the Blood Cultivation Realm. If we break the walls, it will explode early."

"We don’t need to break the walls," Logan said, looking at Fischl. "Do you know where the bomb is located?"

Fischl nodded and increased the power of her shadow crow. Malcolm’s whole body started to twitch.

Five seconds later, Fischl said, "Found it. The bomb is fifteen meters underground, at coordinates x23, y17, z78."

"Thanks!" Logan closed his eyes and used his spatial sense to lock onto the location.

Then, Logan extended his right index finger. A small silver light formed at the tip and vanished into the air.

A second later, there was a small tremor from deep underground.

At the same time, the Shadow Beings inside Malcolm were completely pulled out by the shadow crows. They lost all activity.

Evelynna saw this and immediately led a group into the deeper part of the vault to check the bomb.

Two minutes later, she returned and reported, "The bomb is disabled. The vault is intact and not damaged."

Old Corleone walked up to Malcolm and stared coldly. "Can you hear me?"

Malcolm slowly opened his eyes. His lips moved. "I’m sorry... I couldn’t control myself..."

"I know," Old Corleone said. "You’ll get treatment and then face justice. But right now, tell me about the third anchor point. Your memories are too messy. I need the truth."

Malcolm closed his eyes. A few seconds later, he opened them again. "The third anchor point is the vault itself."

"This is the main node of the Shadow Vein. If you destroy or move the vault, you can break the anchor."

Logan nodded. "That’s easy."

He then placed his hand on the ground. Everyone felt the floor shake.

A moment later, the dark energy around them disappeared.

Old Corleone steadied himself and looked at Logan. "What did you do?"

Logan rubbed his hands together and smiled. "Nothing much. Just sent the vault to join the Shadow."

As if to prove his words, a loud roar came from the sky. This time, the roar had pain in it.

"Logan! You actually hit me with the vault! I’ll kill you!"

At this moment, the Shadow’s power was far weaker than before. Logan could feel that the Shadow was now only at the level of 30-star.

Logan shook his head, finally relaxing. "All three anchor points are cut. The Shadow projection is no longer a threat."

Old Corleone stood up and brushed dust off his suit. "But her real body is still a danger. If the projection is weak, her body will try harder to break the seal."

"That’s for later," Logan said. "Right now, let’s finish the Shadow projection. A 30-star weak projection can be sealed for good.
