Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 151: The Truth Of The Past (4)
Chapter 151: The Truth Of The Past (4)
"The Seven Great Demons. Led by Lightbringer himself. Betrayal and imprisonment. None can defeat him, and so it is impossible to take his place. Therefore, an agreement was made among the remaining six."
Immediately after uttering these words, the disgusting expression on Beelzebub’s face gave way to astonishment. Atlas continued his speech:
"The 12 Main Archangels. Led by the Sword of Heaven himself. Betrayal and imprisonment. None can defeat him, and therefore it is impossible to take his place. One of the 12 has been imprisoned, three have hidden themselves in the most secret place in heaven to rescue the imprisoned one. The remaining 8 have made a deal."
After these words, Atlas turned his face toward Beelzebub, and as the smile on his face grew wider, he spoke these words:
"A war on the physical world. The heads of the world’s heroes are war spoils. Those who hunt the strongest and most important will rise to the top of the rankings. This is an agreement that must exist forever to replace the Lightbringer and the Sword of Heaven. And there is a rule for the heads to be valid."
He fell silent, then raised the knife in his hand to his throat and spoke these words:
"Even if the heads are not separated from the bodies and the heroes are granted an honourable death, the heroes must still declare their defeat to the necessary demon or angel... Great Beelzebub, do you think I don’t know how valuable I am? That my head is more valuable than nearly every person who has ever lived in this world? If you release everyone and swear that no harm will come to them, I swear on my life! MY HEAD IS YOURS!!!"
The look of astonishment on Beelzebub’s face vanished instantly after hearing these words. Even the Great Devil, the symbol of greed, could not help but respect the man before him, whether unwillingly or not.
"Very well, as you wish. I accept the duel to the death, and I swear on my name, my honour, and my very existence that no one you value will ever be harmed by another demon or angel," Beelzebub said suddenly.
Immediately after that, the Great Devil’s incredibly powerful spell enveloped each of Atlas’s followers, and each follower disappeared as they uttered Atlas’s name.
"I sent them to a place where they would be safe, I swear to you," said Beelzebub, and he began to descend from the sky to the earth.
Atlas plunged the small sword in his hand into the ground and then, still refusing to kneel, let himself fall into a prone position. He threw his staff aside and then focused on the raindrops falling from the blood-red sky.
When Beelzebub descended to the earth, he approached Atlas with slow steps and then bent down and took Atlas’s head in his palm.
At the same time, a piece of light separated from Atlas. This symbolised a part of his soul, which was filled with cracks.
"As of today, you are dead. I have taken a piece of your soul, which is full of cracks, and you will die within minutes, but remember this, Atlas. In the deepest depths of hell, when I sit on that throne, your name will be written in large letters right behind the throne, to honour your name till the eternity ends. They were not mistaken about you... You truly are the greatest and most glorious hero who ever lived." Beelzebub said suddenly.
As his soul began to fade slowly and the cracks grew larger, merging and shattering, Atlas’s words reached Cassandra’s ears as she watched everything through tears:
"I am done protecting the human race... I am done fighting for those who destroyed me. If I see the light once more, I will fight for anything but humanity. I promise. I swear."
With these words, the memory began to fade. The surroundings began to change again, but Cassandra managed to see something before the memory faded completely.
An arm that had split the sky. The massive arm of a massive woman. Cassandra had spoken to this woman countless times... she was the very person she worshipped.
"My lady..." Cassandra murmured, and the memory finally faded away.
When Cassandra found herself back in the small temple, her eyes filled with tears, and she began to cry in reality as well. Everything seemed too much even for someone like her.
Not only her but even the gods and goddesses who had managed to witness the events alongside Cassandra had fallen into deep sorrow.
"You only saw two main memories and a few minor ones, dear Sage," Orion said suddenly.
"Don’t push the lady too hard, Orion," Azula said suddenly.
"Is that why every member of your family looked at Atlas with sad eyes?" Cassandra asked in a squeaky voice.
"Yes. Chaos told us what happened after Lady Nyx’s plea and Chronos sending him back in time. He said he was certain Atlas would return here one day and that we must help him in some way when that time came. We couldn’t read Atlas’s mind, Cassandra... His mind was too powerful for some reason... Which means we don’t know if he remembers everything that happened before." Azula said.
"That’s why when I reacted to you... I saw two memories... I understood the seriousness of the situation, Mother, please help me... Help me help Atlas," Cassandra had said.
When Azula heard these words, she shook her head and then said, "According to Chaos, there were two ways to open the gateway between the demons and the angels. One involved using life energies on a massive scale, and the other involved two stones called [Life Stones] hidden in two dungeons at the two ends of the world, the north and south poles. You must find them, Cassandra."
When Cassandra heard these words, she immediately stood up, wiped away her tears, and said, "I swear on my name, I will protect him," and began to prepare to leave.
At that moment, Azula stopped her and spoke these words:
