Antihero In the Hero Academy: I Can Connect the Past Heroes-Chapter 159: The Words From The Ancient Times
Chapter 159: The Words From The Ancient Times
"Do you know this language?" Cordelia asked. Even Cordelia, the longest-lived of them all, seemed not to know it.
"This is the language of the dead. It is a language used in the realm of death, my lady," Cain replied.
"Translate each inscription for us," Cordelia said, and Cain nodded in agreement and immediately began translating the ancient inscriptions on the cave walls until they faded away.
There seemed to be a lot to learn.
Cain continued to translate the faded inscriptions in the unknown language on the wall without stopping. After almost five minutes, he began to read the first series of writings he had pointed to:
"We have sinned. We should have protected this place. We are lucky. Very, very lucky. Those who entered faced death. They failed to take the stone. Thank God the stone is safe."
Immediately afterwards, he pointed to another paragraph and added without pausing, "We were betrayed by the angels. They destroyed the Dark Elf race... Perhaps outside... I hope that a few of them are still alive somewhere outside. Forgive me, my friends. Forgive me, my creator."
"What are these...?" Juliet muttered. Cain’s words made everyone’s hearts race.
After speaking, Cain moved to the other corner of the wall and continued reading:
"Dwarves. May the gods and goddesses be pleased with the dwarves. We have received a message that they are protecting the north. The Kingdom of Nirdorth... May the Great Chaos grant you long life."
"South. There is no news from the south. What is happening on the other side of the world?"
"Forgive me, Sullivan. I couldn’t protect you, old friend. You sacrificed your life for me, but...! But I still lost everything. I must keep this key. If they find this key, they will enter the dungeon to take the stone. I cannot allow that! I will not let your sacrifice be in vain!"
After reading all these writings, Cain realised he had finished reading the inscriptions on one wall of the cave and turned to the wall behind him.
"Ah, Alistar! You said you would help us! I’m going mad... How could you get caught? You promised me, old friend... Sullivan, Leia, Aspeda, Bell... They’re all dead... I can’t lose you too!"
After reading these writings, Cain noticed a few signs that the person who wrote them had changed. When he told the others, he read this long paragraph:
"Everything is over. I heard the others hid the key before they died. If that person is not born, nothing will happen. Harry has left here, perhaps he is dead. It’s only natural that this happened after I was kidnapped; I endured it long enough. Great Chaos, I have fulfilled my duty for millions of years. Now I have lost my voice, and I am leaving this message here after my friend Harry’s writings. I know, O Great Creator! I know you have seen my message. I will leave here, seal this place, and ensure that no one enters until the people I saw in my dream arrive. The Seven Powers and the Bright Spirit who guides them. May the gods and goddesses, the Creator himself, bless them! Farewell, with love and respect, Alistar."
"Damn it..." Talon muttered suddenly.
Everyone realised at that moment that Alistar had seen them. The Seven Powers represented the Sages. The Bright Spirit represented Atlas.
Atlas furrowed his brows and realised that this huge paragraph was the last thing on the wall. Still, he wasn’t blind; he could see that the cave led somewhere. The only reason he had thought of this was because there was a gap a few metres beyond the huge paragraph.
"This place is sealed with magic. Can any of you slowly dispel the magic?" Atlas had said.
However, Cordelia slowly stepped forward and, instead of dispelling the magic where Atlas had pointed, began to gently manipulate it.
As the magic began to shift, the rock where they had thought the cave ended began to move slowly, and a bright light appeared.
Atlas and the others immediately began to move towards the source of the light. After only ten minutes of brisk walking, everything became visible.
They had arrived at a large room with a huge door covered with thousands of crystals, diamonds, emeralds, and dozens of other types of jewels.
There was a corpse in front of the huge door. This time it was not a frozen corpse, but a skeleton, and it must have died so long ago that it turned to dust when someone stepped on it.
Cain immediately saw the writing on the huge door, written in the same language.
Cain, who had drawn the group’s attention to the door, began to explain immediately:
"My name is Harry. I am one of the Six Sages. Chaos gave us a mission, and our mission was to protect both Life Stones. Alistar, Sullivan, Leia, Aspeda, Bell, and finally me. We endured as long as we could with the Sage’s Diary given to us and the powers that came from these diaries. Still, the day came when even we would die. The angels betrayed us, the demons betrayed us. Our end has come."
[Sage’s Diary]
It was the very item created by Chaos, of which only six existed, that allowed communication with the creator. The reason why the items were so powerful had become clear to those present in the room, and the meaning of the writings was now understandable.
An unimaginable secret had been revealed.
"I am addressing those who read this writing. MY NAME IS HARRY. My mission is to deliver all of that knowledge to the Bright Spirit, which will appear in one of the future generations, to the necessary place. If you are that Bright Spirit or one of the Seven Powers we saw in our dreams, I want you to listen carefully to my words."
After translating these words and reading them to the group, Cain paused for a few minutes. No one understood what was happening and simply waited. They suspected that Cain had made a mistake in the translation, but no one noticed that he was simply stunned incomprehensibly.
