Apocalypse Baby-Chapter 78: Damn Monkey: Onslaught
"A mere human dares to come here alone? Don’t worry, my King. We will handle this insolence. I will ensure this fool’s head is presented to you on a platter."
The shaman’s rage matched the King’s, his body trembling with anger and bloodlust.
The Monkey King’s ignored the shaman’s statement and with a deep breath, he unleashed a deafening roar that echoed across the forest.
The sound was primal, powerful, and charged with energy, shaking the ground and reverberating through the trees.
Every monkey in the vicinity froze for a moment, their ears twitching and their fur standing on end.
Even Alex, still positioned near the base of the hill, heard the roar.
He glanced upward, wondering what it was about, but before he could fully process it, multiple fireballs hurtled toward him.
Reacting instantly, Alex leaped away, the flames crashing into the spot where he had been standing moments before.
The explosion sent dirt and debris flying, and when he glanced back, he was surprised to see the damage was slightly greater than what he had experienced from earlier attacks.
He narrowed his eyes, scanning the monkeys again.
Something had changed.
The once-chaotic group now looked more focused and intense, their eyes gleaming with determination.

And the change had occurred right after that resounding roar.
Alex muttered under his breath, realization dawning on him.
A buff huh
Alex launched himself into the trees, moving with lightning speed. Behind him, the monkeys surged forward, shrieking as they chased him through the branches.
He was faster, but the numbers… they just kept coming.
Kill after kill, Alex struck with precision, each swing and stab sending a monkey crumpling to the ground.
But no matter how many he took down, more seemed to appear from the shadows, rushing in to replace their fallen comrades.
The moment Alex reached the middle ring, the chaos escalated.
The area was teeming with monkeys — the strongest of them all, each more determined than the last to stop him.
He took a few hits here and there — jabs from spears, a heavy blow from a fist — but nothing serious. His wounds were minor, easily healed by his regeneration.
"It’s nothing I can’t handle," Alex muttered under his breath.
Still, he wasn’t invincible.
The hits were inevitable.
But Alex was fine.
His regeneration worked like a charm, stitching up the little cuts and bruises as soon as they appeared.
Soon, hundreds of monkeys surrounded him, their eyes gleaming with malice.
"This is getting crowded," Alex thought with a smirk, his eyes flashing as he activated [Stealth Walk]
In an instant, he vanished, leaving the monkeys confused and spinning in circles.
Before they could figure out what had just happened, Alex reappeared behind them, his movements a blur. As he shot past, he tossed a few Blastshards into the air. They detonated in a massive explosion, the shockwave ripping through the crowd.
The monkeys closest to the blasts were blown back, their bodies thrown to the ground. The rest were dazed and disoriented, their senses scrambled by the force of the attack.
Landing just a few steps away in the center of the stunned monkeys, Alex wasted no time. He kept up the assault, each swing and strike a blur of motion.
At one point, Alex spotted a massive gorilla-sized monkey’s corpse. Its great axe lay beside it.
"Don’t mind if I do," Alex grinned, snatching up the weapon.
With the heavy axe in his hands, Alex became a force of nature. Despite the weapon’s massive size and weight, he swung it like a berserker. The axe soared through the air with deadly precision, its sharp edge cutting through the monkeys like a scythe through wheat.
Each swing was relentless, fast, and powerful, as Alex roared like a madman. His attacks were an unstoppable blur, tearing through the sea of monkeys that tried to get in his way.
Alex’s body moved like it had an endless supply of energy.
[Vigor Strike] coursed through him, making his stamina feel limitless. He was unstoppable, consumed by the thrill of the fight.
He didn’t pause. Didn’t rest. His strikes never faltered.
Bam!
Another monkey dropped, then another.
The bodies piled up around him, but Alex didn’t slow down.
His sword flashed, cutting down opponents like a scythe.
Soon, the numbers of the monkeys began to thin.
There were fewer of them now, their once overwhelming force starting to crumble.
Alex, moving faster than the eye could track, switched back to his sword, his body blurring as he cut through the remaining monkeys.
He spun a blur of steel and power, slicing through the primates like a tornado of destruction.
Swish!
Thud!
Bodies dropped with each movement.
In an instant, he landed on a high branch, catching his breath for only a second before looking up.
A shadow loomed overhead.
A monkey stood there, unlike the others.
It wore a dark cloak, its presence commanding, and in one hand, it held a gnarled staff.
Alex narrowed his eyes.
[Monkey Shaman - Rank C]
The shaman raised its staff high, and before Alex could react, vines erupted from the ground, shooting toward him like whips.
"Shit!" Alex jumped, flipping through the trees to escape the vines’ deadly reach.
But the vines followed, twisting through the air and closing in on him.
Thinking quickly, Alex pulled out Blastshards, gripping them tightly in his hands.
Without hesitation, he hurled them at the shaman, aiming for the heart of its defense.
The shaman, unfazed, transformed the vines into a shield.
The Blastshards collided with the shield with a loud clang! But these weren’t just any rocks.
Boom!
The explosion ripped through the vine shield, sending the shaman flying backward.
The force of the blast sent the shaman flying backward, slamming it into a tree trunk with a bone-jarring thud.
Alex didn’t waste a second. As the shaman struggled to recover, Alex darted forward, a blur of motion, his eyes locked on his target.
The shaman tried to lift its staff, desperation clear in its movements, but Alex was faster.
He hurled his sword with pinpoint accuracy.
Whoosh!
The blade sliced through the air like a javelin, and impaled the shaman’s chest before it could utter another spell.
The creature’s eyes widened in shock, its grip on the staff faltering as it slumped against the tree.
The fight was over.
Alex landed softly in front of the shaman’s corpse. Without a word, he gripped the hilt of his sword and pulled it free, the motion clean and deliberate.
But before he could catch his breath, his senses flared.
He glanced up sharply to see multiple shamans perched on the treetops, their staffs raised high, glowing ominously with power.
Alex let out a low whistle, tilting his head as he smirked.
"Now that’s a surprise," he said, his tone casual despite the danger.
