Apocalypse Baby-Chapter 87: Damn Monkey: Blood Arrow
The Monkey King’s heart sank as he felt it again—a chilling, deathly aura clinging to its body.
Its instincts screamed at him and without hesitation, he summoned a clone who shot ahead, its original body erupting in a violent explosion.
The force of the blast hurled the Monkey King forward, its clone obliterated as the real him stumbled away, its breaths ragged and uneven.
The monkey didn’t dare look back.
"Why don’t you stay and fight?" Alex’s provoked and the Monkey King’s stomach churned.
"Running has never saved anyone from me, and it will not start with you."
The words burrowed into the Monkey King’s mind, each syllable heavy with dread.
Its legs pumped harder, Its body moving in sheer desperation.
But no matter how fast he ran, the weight of Alex’s gaze pressed on him, unrelenting.
There’s no escape, he thought, panic settling deep in his bones.
The Monkey King could feel it—the creeping inevitability of death just a step behind him.
Every step felt like it was getting harder, his muscles protesting as his breath came in ragged bursts.
If I slow down just a bit… it’ll be over.
He pushed himself harder, forcing his legs to move, but deep inside, he knew that it was futile.
As he sprinted through the dense terrain, something shifted in the air.
The ground beneath his feet changed, the trees thickened, and the landscape seemed to take on a more wild, untamed energy.
He was in Beast lord territory.
Even if he died here, the Monkey King had a sliver of hope.
The beast lord won’t forgive this human for causing chaos in its domain.
The beasts that ruled these lands were powerful—stronger than the Monkey King himself. And if any of them noticed Alex, they’d hunt him down without a second thought.
Behind him, Alex was relentless.
His footsteps were steady, his movements almost lazy, as if the chase was a game to him.
He could have used [Blur], a skill he gained from a certain speed god’s foolishness, to close the gap in an instant, but he didn’t.
He had noticed the shift in the environment as well and could tell they were in the domain of a powerful beast.
He had maintained his pace, using the pursuit to recover the mana he had spent so far. There was a chance he’d get into another battle and he wanted to fight at 100%, so he allowed his reserves to recharge. Your next chapter awaits on novelbuddy
But now, with his mana fully restored, he deemed it was time to end this.
He didn’t plan to let the Monkey King escape—not now, not ever.
Alex activated [Blur], his figure vanishing in a sudden burst of speed.
In an instant, he consumed an immense distance, the ground beneath him trembling faintly from the sheer force of his step.
The Monkey King felt a rush of air blow past him, his instincts screaming that something was wrong.
He snapped his head to the side, searching for Alex, only to realize his presence was completely gone.
Where?
He whipped his gaze forward, and his heart dropped.
Alex was standing directly in his path.
The Monkey King screeched to a halt, his claws digging into the earth to stop his momentum.
Panic surged through him as he prepared to veer off in another direction, desperate to put distance between himself and the human.
But then Alex spoke a single word.
"[Petrify]."
The Monkey King’s body seized up instantly, as if invisible chains had wrapped around his limbs and locked him in place.
He couldn’t move.
Normally, his rank and power would have allowed him to shrug off such a skill.
But sheer terror coursing through him had shattered his resolve, leaving him vulnerable.
His will to fight back had crumbled.
Alex took a slow, deliberate step forward, his presence growing more menacing with each stride.
The Monkey King’s heartbeat thundered in his chest, each frantic beat echoing louder in his ears.
The closer Alex got, the more his fear intensified, further fueling the skill’s effect.
The invisible chains tightened, solidifying as the Monkey King’s panic deepened.
He couldn’t break free.
The Monkey King’s chest heaved as it panted, desperation etched across its face.
There was no escaping this.
Death was breathing down his neck.
Alex stepped closer, his expression cold and unrelenting.
He placed a hand firmly on the Monkey King’s head, the weight of it sending an icy chill down the primate’s spine.
The Monkey King shuddered violently, dread washing over him as Alex’s power seeped into his being.

Alex smirked.
"Let me make this simple for you."
With a flick of his fingers, Alex activated his ability, setting an implosion bomb directly on the Monkey King’s head. A faint, ominous glow began to emanate from the spot, signaling the inevitable.
"Now," Alex said with a mocking tone, "it doesn’t matter what you do. You’re already dead."
The Monkey King froze, his trembling growing more intense.
"Be honored," Alex continued, his smirk widening, "you get to experience my ability—head first."
Terrible pun. But whatever.
The Monkey King’s eyes widened in fear, his voice trembling as he stammered, "You... you demon! You’ll regret this. My death will draw the Beast Lord’s attention. It won’t treat you lightly. You can’t win against it!"
Alex tilted his head, an amused glint in his eyes.
"What business does the dead have worrying about the future?"
He crouched slightly, lowering his gaze to meet the Monkey King’s terrified eyes.
"I’ve provoked gods," Alex whispered, his tone low and laced with menace. "And you think a Beast Lord scares me?"
At that moment, the [Petrify] effect wore off.
And the Monkey King’s body collapsed, his legs giving out beneath him as he fell onto his butt.
He sat there, trembling uncontrollably, unable to form a single coherent thought.
Alex raised his hand, fingers poised to snap and detonate the bomb planted on the Monkey King’s head.
But before he could, his sharp senses caught something slicing through the air, heading straight for the Monkey King.
With sharp reflexes Alex’s hand shot out, catching the object mere inches from its target.
He brought it up to eye level to inspect it.
"Arrows?" he muttered, brow furrowing as he examined the object more closely.
It was red with a faint metallic scent.
"Blood arrows," Alex realized, his tone shifting to one of mild irritation.
"Seriously?"
A low chuckle escaped him, quickly growing into a full-blown cackle.
His laughter echoed through the clearing, cold and unsettling, sending shivers down the Monkey King’s spine.
The Monkey King, who had shut its eyes while Alex was about to snap, opened one eye hesitantly, startled by the sudden sound of laughter,
Alex then exhaled cutting off his laughter.
He broke the blood arrow as if it were nothing more than a twig and muttered.
"Someone’s trying to steal my kill. How gutsy."
His expression then darkened in an instant, turning deadly serious.
And in a flash, Alex was gone, heading straight for the source of the blood arrows.
