Apocalypse Circular-Chapter 493 - 491 The Birth of the Angel Envoy
Her mind had slowly grown over the thousand-plus years she had been sealed.
This piece of information, it was hard to say whether it was good or bad.
On the one hand, Angel Envoys also needed to grow; at the time of their initial birth, they possessed certain defects.
On the other hand, the downside was that their growth period was exceedingly long. Today’s Angel Envoys had all become consummate old foxes, deeply treacherous individuals.
This was what made them truly difficult to deal with.
Lu Luo thought back to the Eighth Order sea monster he had encountered in the ocean.
It was a vessel raised by Meiqi, which was also the embryonic form of the Devourer.
That sea monster also lacked intelligence; the Devourers of old were probably similar to that creature.
"What a fruitful harvest!" Lu Luo exclaimed. "I’ve obtained a lot of information about Angel Envoys, along with their dark history. How do you feel?"
He looked over at Lu Xiaotian and noticed she was pinching her chin, not speaking, seemingly pondering some issue.
"What’s wrong? Is there a problem?"
Lu Xiaotian shook her head slightly. "Although there’s a vast amount of information recorded here, and much of it is very useful, most of these records were made by humans. Moreover, a very important detail is missing."
"A very important detail?"
"How Angel Envoys are born."
At this, Lu Luo also furrowed his brow. He seemed to have learned something about the birth of Angel Envoys while he was in the Upside-Down Sea, but it wasn’t entirely clear. Back then, his existence was in a form of detached consciousness. It was a unique feeling, and he had gained some information from it.
The birth of Angel Envoys... Is it that important?
Lu Xiaotian glanced at him. "Of course, it’s important. Maybe not to you, but for me, it’s a pathway to ascension. Angel Envoys are supposedly the so-called Ninth Tier Exotic Species, but apart from these Angel Envoys, no other Ninth Tier Exotic Species have been born. This in itself is a very suspicious matter. Noah stagnated for 400 years and still didn’t reach Ninth Tier. Logically, the energy he accumulated should have been enough to break through any limit long ago. Plus, in the Wasteland Alliance, he was an existence with hardly any natural predators. Yet he still didn’t break through and only then began to take the path of transforming humans."
Lu Luo caught on to something but didn’t quite understand. "And then? Can you be more specific? Like, what’s the conclusion?"
"A specific conclusion?" Lu Xiaotian mused. "It’s simply a question I have: can wild Exotic Species ever reach Ninth Tier?"
"Wild Exotic Species reaching Ninth Tier?"
"Yes. The path ahead is unclear. My strength as an Exotic Species has hit a bottleneck. Fortunately, the human part of me can still be cultivated. However, my true form is that of an Exotic Species. What should I do to step into Ninth Tier?"
After a moment’s hesitation, Lu Luo decided to tell Lu Xiaotian what he had witnessed in the Upside-Down Sea. Some pieces of intelligence might be useless to him but could be very significant for Lu Xiaotian.
"Lu Xiaotian."
"What?"
"About the birth of Angel Envoys... I think I actually know something."
"You know? How do you know?"
"It’s a long story, and not easy to explain clearly."
Lu Luo shifted uncomfortably. Lu Xiaotian immediately kicked him. "Spit it out!"
"At Meiqi’s place, I once existed in a state of pure consciousness and sensed their will as Angel Envoys. The feeling wasn’t very clear at the time because my consciousness was particularly vague. But now that you mention the birth of Angel Envoys, I think that feeling must be related to this matter."
Upon hearing this, Lu Xiaotian’s eyes immediately lit up. "Tell me more. What exactly happened then?"
"The sensation was quite distinct. In a state of chaotic darkness, a total of twelve consciousnesses were born. Those thirteen consciousnesses..."
"Wait. Didn’t you say twelve consciousnesses were born? Why is it thirteen now?"
"Uh, because one consciousness had existed from the very beginning."
"Alright, continue," Lu Xiaotian said, not interrupting him further. She decided to hear him out.
"Those thirteen consciousnesses each had unique energy signatures, all vastly different. But I could clearly sense a few of them that felt very familiar. Among them was a power similar to Meiqi’s Netherflame. That’s why I connected those consciousnesses with the initial form in which the Angel Envoys were born."
"An original consciousness, and then twelve additional ones were born?" Lu Xiaotian processed this. "If these consciousnesses truly gave rise to the Angel Envoys, it would mean that this path is sealed—it’s a closed loop. Because it’s a closed loop, the power of the Angel Envoys cannot circulate. Thus, Angel Envoys cannot be killed; they can only be extracted and sealed. The twelve Angel Envoys have existed since ancient times, and humans have kept them sealed for many years but have never managed to kill them. If it were merely about borrowing their power, there would be no need to keep all of them alive."
Her voice trailed off, her expression turning bleak. Beyond Eighth Order, there is no path! My path ahead... it’s severed!
Lu Xiaotian’s vitality suddenly seemed to diminish, as if she had just received terrible news.
Seeing her like this, Lu Luo knew that ordinary consolation would be useless. Given Lu Xiaotian’s personality, a bit of provocation was in order. "You’re discouraged already? Just like that? After only my side of the story and some of your own guesses, you’re giving up? You’re really too weak."
"Nonsense! I haven’t given up at all!"
"Tch. You looked like you were about to die just now. Pretty pathetic."
"Get lost!"
Lu Xiaotian took a deep breath. She was very strong-willed and knew Lu Luo was provoking her, but it was indeed effective. She quickly adjusted her mood.
"Alright, thank you, Lu Luo. Even though I know you’re encouraging me in your own special way, I still have to say it... You’re quite annoying."
Is that so? I thought so too... Huh? Aren’t I quite likable? Lu Luo was speechless. He had said so much with good intentions, only to be called annoying.
But seeing that Lu Xiaotian had returned to normal, Lu Luo felt relieved. She was an important combat partner for him. More importantly, the energy they both cultivated was almost identical—both Netherflame, both Dust Devil. In cooperation, their combined combat power could achieve an effect greater than the sum of their parts. Lu Luo felt that if they joined forces, they might actually have a chance to escape from an Angel Envoy. Although running away sounded shameful, escaping from an Angel Envoy was a matter of strategic significance.
"Although I’m not sure whether we wild Exotic Species can reach Ninth Tier, I feel I still have a lot of room for improvement," Lu Xiaotian said, tapping her fingers rhythmically. "Moreover, the final answer to this question should come from the master of the question itself. That would be more definitive."
"The master of the question?"
"Lu Luo, what do you think about us capturing a live Angel Envoy and asking it?"
Lu Luo’s eyes narrowed slightly. He didn’t think Lu Xiaotian’s idea was fanciful; instead, he immediately began to seriously consider its feasibility.
In terms of combat power, Angel Envoys were simply too formidable. Even if he reached Eighth Order, he might not be able to defeat one. After all, an Angel Envoy’s power was accumulated over more than a thousand years, while he had only a few short years. The two weren’t comparable.
However, given the abnormalities, Lu Luo wasn’t entirely without means to deal with Angel Envoys. They were, after all, Exotic Species, and currently, all of them were in a sealed state. While they could interfere with Lu Luo and possessed great power, if it came to a direct confrontation, the outcome was hard to predict. If Lu Luo could return to the Imperial, he could have a showdown with them and leverage the Imperial’s power to fight the Angel Envoys. The Imperial had thirteen Eighth Order human powerhouses, whose strength far exceeded that of ordinary Eighth Order Exotic Species. In terms of Sequence, equipment, and skills, with similar energy reserves, human combat power could arguably crush that of Exotic Species. Even someone like Lu Xiaotian had only managed a draw with Ludie when she first entered the Fourth Ring. This alone showed the difference in their combat capabilities. Although Ludie was a genius who had created techniques like Dust Devil, there was still a one-level difference between them.
"If the conditions are right, this plan is indeed worth trying," Lu Luo said. "However, I would need to draw on a significant amount of the Imperial’s power. But my current position in the Imperial is precarious; no one can definitively say they can command the Imperial’s forces. So, I can’t give you a clear answer right now."
Lu Luo spoke frankly. After he explained the situation, Lu Xiaotian nodded thoughtfully. "Just keep it in mind. The question of Ninth Tier should be very helpful for your future as well. After all, your form is now very similar to that of an Exotic Species. And you said before that humans cannot reach Ninth Tier. No one can clearly explain the reasons for this yet. Understanding the makeup of Angel Envoys might help when you attempt to reach Ninth Tier later on."
Lu Xiaotian made sense, and Lu Luo took note of these matters.
"Alright, these issues can only be addressed in the future. Our current situation is still relatively optimistic, don’t you think?" Lu Luo ventured.
"Optimistic my ass! Maybe as soon as we go up, Leviathan will kill us," Lu Xiaotian retorted, pouting with disdain for Lu Luo’s attitude.
"Alright then. We should have searched this area thoroughly. Shall we go up?"
"Yes, let’s go."
Just as the two prepared to end their search and leave the Doomsday Sanctuary, a familiar sensation once again emerged in Lu Luo’s heart.
This... seems to be a fragment?
"What’s wrong?" Lu Xiaotian asked with some curiosity, seeing Lu Luo stop. She hadn’t sensed anything, so she didn’t know what Lu Luo had noticed.
Lu Luo looked towards a dark region where there appeared to be nothing, yet he distinctly felt the presence of energy.
The energy of dawn! Holy Radiance!
It’s the Dawn Disc.
"Huh? The Dawn Disc? Wasn’t that thing destroyed already?"
"Not exactly destroyed," Lu Luo mused. "Its energy has always been there. Perhaps its existence has merely transformed into another form."
After hesitating for a moment, Lu Luo turned to Lu Xiaotian. "Wait here for me. Don’t get too close, but don’t stay too far away either."
Hearing this, Lu Xiaotian immediately understood his meaning. She quickly assumed a combat-ready stance and watched Lu Luo’s retreating back. "Hey, be careful."
"I know. I tend to be quite cautious."
Lu Luo carefully walked towards the darkness. Although the Observer ensured his vision wouldn’t be hampered by the dark, he couldn’t shake the feeling that these two appearances of the Dawn Disc’s energy were somewhat strange. It felt like it was luring him.
Is it guiding me, hoping I’ll find it? If it really is still around, then what about the Truth Disc? And where did Judgment Chief Bai Qingshuang go?
Lu Luo had always been skeptical about whether Judgment Chief Bai Qingshuang was truly dead or alive. If she was dead, it didn’t quite feel right; but if she was alive, where had she been all these years?
Stepping cautiously, Lu Luo’s body gradually disappeared into the darkness.
CRACK!
His fingers touched something hard—a bright fragment. This fragment was actually transparent, making it invisible in the darkness. All the Holy Radiance emanated from this piece.
It really is Holy Radiance! Then this thing must be a genuine fragment of the Dawn Disc.
When Lu Luo grabbed the fragment, a strong consciousness tried to invade his mental world, just as the Destroyer had done before. But precisely because Lu Luo had experienced the Destroyer’s attack, and this fragment was so tiny, he reacted instantly. The moment he realized the fragment was attacking him, he deployed the Unbeliever’s defense.
"I am the Unbeliever! You can’t touch me!" he declared mentally.
HUM!
The clash of wills and minds flashed through Lu Luo’s consciousness for an instant—brief, yet intensely powerful.
After this mental collision, the fragment seemed to lose its power, no longer possessing its earlier intensity. And when Lu Luo grasped the fragment again, he surprisingly sensed the presence of many more fragments.
Holy shit!
Countless fragments floated in every corner of the Fourth Ring. Like shards of shattered glass, they hung silently in mid-air, lay in the soil, and dotted the sky. They were scattered everywhere, a chaotic mess. Lu Luo could clearly sense their number: a total of 1,089 pieces.
This number was staggering. The extent of the Dawn Disc’s damage far exceeded Lu Luo’s imagination.
"Lu Luo, what’s wrong? If you’re okay, can you say something?" Lu Xiaotian’s voice came from behind him, interrupting his thoughts.
"I’m fine," Lu Luo replied. "But I think I’ve discovered something incredible."
"Something incredible? What are you talking about?"
Lu Luo turned around and held up the small fragment in his hand towards Lu Xiaotian. "I’ve found the Dawn Disc. The complete Dawn Disc."
