Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields-Chapter 335 - 332: Unique Ability: Connection
Lin Yi walked along the noisy street, but this time the women didn’t pay him any attention.
They knew he wouldn’t take the bait again on the same day.
However, the food vendors didn’t let him off, as most men would buy some food after coming out of the women’s house.
"Fried fish, fresh catch of the day! I swear, it’s delicious! Only ten coins!" A scrawny old man persistently said.
"Hmm... alright, why not?" Lin Yi chuckled, pulling out a large handful of various coins from his pocket.
He counted out ten and handed them to the old man.
"Thank you very much, enjoy your meal!" The old man said with a deep bow.
"Hmm... not bad."
It was a small fish, barely over two ounces, but well-cooked and sprinkled with herbs.
He didn’t finish the fish, just took a few bites before tossing it away, but the fish didn’t hit the ground.
Someone caught it in midair and began wolfing down the remaining parts as other vagrants like him ran over, trying to grab the fish.
Lin Yi didn’t see this because he was in a hurry to get to the marketplace church.
He saw a few patrols on the way.
Some looked quite intimidating, while others were clearly as thuggish as those at the city gates.
The former were the leader’s troops, the latter were the regional head’s enforcers.
Lin Yi soon arrived at the so-called marketplace church.
It was indeed a church, and heavily guarded.
Beside the church, there was someone selling vehicles.
Including military vehicles. There were no tanks, but there were armored personnel carriers, armored fighting vehicles, and a few military jeeps.
These vehicles were clean and so new they seemed to shine.
But Lin Yi didn’t have time to look at cars for now.
He entered the church and first noticed the security measures there.
He found himself in a spacious hall filled with stalls and display cases.
Many skill books were on sale, and the prices were surprisingly low, cheaper than in Lille.
Magic skill books were selling for ten thousand coins, five thousand cheaper than in France.
As expected, important skill books like "Weapon Maker" were in short supply.
Lin Yi didn’t see anything particularly good that he had to buy right away, but he needed to make an impression.
So he bought twenty "Hawkeye" skill books for five hundred coins each.
He also saw "Charm" and "Psychic Link" skill books, but they weren’t practical enough to justify buying.
"Thank you for your purchase, I probably shouldn’t ask why you need so many ’Hawkeye’ skill books."
The merchant said as he counted Lin Yi’s money and handed over the goods.
Lin Yi took them, casually replied,
"It’s a very useful skill, even at the first level, it can greatly enhance a gunman’s shooting ability."
"But very few people are willing to spend that much money on it. Five hundred coins could equip twelve gunmen, you know... suppose I have a unique skill book..."
"I’d be very interested," Lin Yi replied.
"This way, please." The merchant nodded, leading Lin Yi to the basement.
Melanie had already checked this area, confirming it was relatively safe.
"You see... all transactions are taxed by the government, and this skill book is too valuable, so... you understand.
So if you could keep this a secret for us, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, we’re both doomed."
The merchant said as he walked with Lin Yi down the stairs leading to the basement.
But rather than a real basement, it felt more like an underground catacomb.
Lin Yi looked around.
"Seems like you have quite a few valuable items here. Are these all for sale?"
"Of course." The merchant grinned.
He had plenty of security personnel, but he hadn’t even considered robbing this man.
Who knows what level he was or what skills he had? Maybe this man would kill them all and rob the shop himself.
At this point, Lin Yi spotted a universal manufacturing magic cube!
"Only fifteen hundred coins... that doesn’t seem unreasonable to me."
"Hmm... the leader insists on personally buying each piece at two hundred coins, so you see..."
"I understand, these are good weapons."
"Yes, and quite expensive." The merchant candidly replied.
"I’ll buy them all!"
Lin Yi immediately purchased eleven, which was the merchant’s entire stock.
Then, a third-level armor set caught his attention, but since he already had the Doomsday Knight Armor, he didn’t need it much.
"You sell workbenches here too, don’t you make more money using them yourself?"
"In our city, finding a decent weapon maker is extremely difficult, plus, the leader bought all the workbenches at two thousand coins each."
"Got it, how many do you have?"
"Seven."
"I’ll take them all too," Lin Yi grunted, spending another one hundred and five thousand coins.
If he could assemble a workshop out of a hundred workbenches, what then?
Maybe he could manufacture his own mecha!
"I knew I wasn’t wrong about you." The merchant said, handing Lin Yi seven workbench magic cubes, taking one hundred and five thousand coins in exchange.
He gave the money to a security guard, who left the room and shortly returned.
The merchant didn’t have alchemy workbenches, recovery platforms, or low-level workbenches.
Lin Yi found a second-level healing ointment formula, and a set of Doomsday Soldier Armor.
But he wasn’t too interested in these things, so he asked to see the merchant’s unique skill book.
