Chapter 382: Chapter 366: Despicable Scheme (Part 2)

The human mecha also got rid of those annoying clinging zombies.

"Solomon, watch the recording of this battle later; there’s something strange about these zombies."

"Okay, boss."

All zombies that charged to the top of the hill are dead.

Now the soldiers only need to deal with the injured zombies and collect their rewards.

The convoy’s defenders are also wrapping things up, but they need about ten more minutes to finish the battle.

According to their preliminary calculations, they’ve killed about forty thousand zombies, earned nearly five hundred rewards, and two hundred thousand coins.

Compared to the astonishing numbers from the last battle, this harvest feels... indeed insignificant.

The corpses, coins, and other loot were transferred within about half an hour.

The convoy’s defenders resolved the remaining zombies and began clearing the decks of destroyed transport vehicles.

After completing the cleanup, they finally sent out their representatives.

But Lin Yi was in no hurry.

He just sat on a large rock, handling shelter affairs through his earphones.

The shelter’s troops were preparing to execute an extremely insidious plan on the Vampire Ark.

The plan was very simple: Boria’s centipedes would dig tunnels into the underground complex, then pour burning agents inside and ignite it.

This despicable plan was devised by everyone’s favorite boss.

"They’re here, boss," said a soldier guarding this leader.

The delegation consisted of twelve half-mechanical people.

Some of them wore power armor with weapons slung over their shoulders, while others were in casual wear.

The group included both men and women, and it was difficult to determine their age because their synthetic skin had been damaged by their harsh environment.

"Why would aliens want to help us?" asked the member who seemed most military-like.

"We are different aliens, and we hope very much that Tilian continues to exist," Lin Yi answered frankly, still sitting on that rock.

"You saved us, so please accept our gratitude," a woman bowed to Lin Yi.

The others followed suit, including the hard-headed military figure.

"You’re welcome. Are you interested in making a trade?"

"A trade?"

Over the next hour, the nomadic convoy handed over all their coin reserves, totaling fifteen million coins.

Lin Yi exchanged energy-filled energy cores for their depleted ones and charged their energy weapons.

He also purchased four hundred and ten additional weapons from them, selling them a large quantity of fuel.

He contacted his branch offices in various fortresses to purchase everything the convoy needed, including resources, equipment, gear, and parts.

After the trade was over, the nomads gave Lin Yi a tour of their life.

They were called nomads for a reason; they lived, worked, and fought while traveling.

All their "sand ships"—those twenty giant transport vehicles—were essentially small cities.

The half-mechanical people lived on the upper deck, while the middle and lower decks were filled with workshops, manufacturing facilities, chemical laboratories, and other facilities necessary to keep the convoy running.

Each ship was led by a captain, who was both the king and ruler of the vessel.

The convoy’s direction and policies were decided by a committee of twenty captains.

The life of nomads was tough, but they were accustomed to it, and they were a tightly-knit group, with about eight thousand half-mechanical people on each sand ship.

The nomads also shared their reconnaissance intelligence with Lin Yi. He learned that there’s a large group of zombies to the east, and a Titan beast to the west.

They also showed him the locations of medium and small survivor camps.

Those camps were not on Lin Yi’s route, but he could still inform the fortresses to rescue the mechanical people there.

After all, the more people on this planet, the greater the chance of winning this war.

Once he finished with the matters of the nomads, Lin Yi set out north.

The operation on the Vampire Ark was about half an hour away, and he wanted to cover as much ground as possible during this time.

~~~~~~
"Headquarters! Tunnel Number Three has been destroyed!"
"All squads, be alert; it’s going to explode!"
The detonators exploded.
The Vampire Ark shook, and a few minutes later, half of the underground tunnels began spewing flames.
The human troops immediately launched an attack.
Soldiers wearing power armor, carrying level-4 shields and shotguns led the charge.
Of course, Lin Yi was with them too.
He was keen to witness the actual combat performance of the "Slaughterer-3C" power armor.
Jelad Fortress had completed the manufacturing of the first batch of two hundred units of this armor the previous day. They were similar to other medium-sized power armors but did not come with jet packs.
The electronics in this armor were state-of-the-art.
They were connected to a network to synchronize data and process together.
The shared system automatically mapped the area, marking the locations of allies and enemies.
Lin Yi’s squad charged into a tunnel that hadn’t been spewing flames, encountering the first obstacle—a magic barrier.
Thanks to the reconnaissance provided by scouts with vision abilities, their actions were swift.
This tunnel was designed for large chimeras, being twelve meters high and fifteen meters wide.
The walls, floor, and ceiling of the tunnel were built with stone, but the moss and cracks on the walls indicated it was at least a century old.
The tunnel was dark inside, but the soldiers’ equipment was equipped with advanced night vision systems, so that wasn’t an issue.
About thirty seconds after entering the tunnel, the squad encountered a large group of chimeras and vampires.
They were in pretty bad shape.
Some vampires had miraculously survived the fire but were unconscious.
Others drank potions, trying to awaken their companions.
On the other hand, the chimeras were poised, immediately charging at these shelter soldiers.
These monsters were well-equipped and had skills, but as they rushed at the soldiers, they were met with blasts from four plasma shotguns wielded by soldiers in the rear.
Limbs flew, innards, and blood splattered... chimeras stood no chance against the plasma shotguns.
However, the chimeras grew even angrier.
The bloody scene before them only fueled their bloodlust, and they rushed towards the enemy faster than before, eager to take a bite out of the enemy’s flesh.
But the soldiers were cleverly positioned, with dense firepower, making it impossible for the chimeras to get close.
The front rows of soldiers knelt on one knee, maintaining their fire, finally allowing the rear soldiers to unleash their full firepower.
Since the chimeras were the first to be attacked, the vampires had time to recover and prepare to strike back.
Powerful Flame Magic shot towards the humans, burning everything in their path, including the chimeras.
Yet, they underestimated humans once more.
The barriers produced by humans with level-4 shields blocked the attack, while the vampire Mages were struck by bullets and plasma beams.
