Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 198: Information Toxins
Whoosh!
Just as the group was reeling in shock—
BAM!
An invisible force suddenly ripped the guns from their hands, sending them soaring into the air.
And then—
Click. Click. Click.
The stolen firearms spun around midair, barrels all turning toward their original owners, aiming straight at them.
Lin Xian instantly understood what was happening.
Without hesitation, he stopped his motorcycle and strode forward, lifting his hand with a flick—
BOOM!
A massive bulletproof turret dropped down in front of him, followed by a Roarer K23 Electric Gatling Gun, landing with a resounding clang.
Lin Xian brushed his hand over the gun’s heated surface, then looked up at the group with an icy gaze.
"You risked the dangers of the Dark Night just to wait for me?" He tapped the turret's armored plating, his voice dripping with mockery.
"You think you can take me?"
The armed men’s faces twisted in shock.
They had never seen someone summon a heavy Gatling gun out of thin air, let alone deploy an entire metal turret right on solid ground.
"What’s the point of talking to these traitors?"
KIKI descended from the sky, arms crossed, her glowing eyes piercing through the darkness.
Her mastery of psychic energy had reached new heights—against ordinary weapons, her power made them utterly useless.
In a single instant, the battlefield had flipped.
Now, the hunters had become the prey.
Duan Min’s expression turned ashen.
The gun in her hands had already been ripped away, and panic flashed across her face.
Meanwhile, Ding Qing stood in grim silence, his eyes dark and calculating.
"As expected of a high-tier Ability User," he muttered.
"I’ve seen your tricks before, but it looks like I still underestimated you."
His gaze locked onto Lin Xian.
"You escaped once, and now you’ve returned."
"That means… you’ve figured out the truth about the Dark Night Curse, haven’t you?"
He let out a low chuckle.
"But let me tell you something—you might think you have the upper hand.
"But anger that thing, and not a single person in your convoy will make it out of Rain Town alive."
Lin Xian's heart clenched.
So Ding Qing really does know about the "Marking."
"Curse?" KIKI’s brow furrowed.
"So you knew all along?! And instead of warning people, you trapped them here to die?!"
Her fists clenched, psychic energy crackling around her.
"You son of a—"
BOOM!
A sudden tremor rippled through the ground.
A strange hissing sound echoed from the Chemical Plant behind Ding Qing.
Then—
Whoosh!
A wave of faint orange smoke erupted from Reagent Room No. 1, spreading like wildfire across the entire chemical facility.
"What the hell—?!"
Ding Qing’s men dropped to the ground, clutching their heads in agony.
Even Duan Min swayed, staggering as she slumped onto the floor.
Lin Xian's pupils shrunk—
By the time he noticed the change in Ding Qing’s expression, it was already too late.
The smoke engulfed them all.
The moment it hit—
Lin Xian felt his muscles give out.
His entire body went numb.
Even the floating weapons in the air clattered to the ground, their telekinetic hold vanishing.
KIKI collapsed against Lin Xian, her face pale.
"Lin… Xian…" Her voice was weak, her body trembling.
"My powers… they’re gone."
Lin Xian gritted his teeth.
His nervous system was shutting down.
Across the chemical plant, everyone—except for one person—was on the ground, paralyzed.
The only one left standing…
…was Ding Qing.
"Ahhh—"
Ding Qing let out a strangled groan, veins bulging as he reached into his exoskeleton suit and yanked out a small injector.
Whoosh!
He stabbed it directly into his own neck.
Hissss…
A strange energy coursed through his veins, his skin flushing red as his eyes sharpened with newfound clarity.
Lin Xian stared in disbelief.
What the hell kind of method was this?!
Was Ding Qing an Ability User too?
But if so—why did his own men collapse alongside them?
Had he planned this from the start?
Ding Qing grimaced through the pain, his voice laced with tension.
"I know your Abilities are powerful… but don’t worry.
"You won’t die just yet."
He exhaled sharply.
"That Lantern Flower's core releases a Dark Entity Neurotoxin when it’s fatally attacked—
"It paralyzes the central nervous system and suppresses Abilities.
"The radius is small, but… well…"
His lips curled into a cruel smirk.
"It’s more than enough to handle you."
Lin Xian's mind raced.
This was bad.
He and KIKI had attacked first and disarmed their opponents—
But Ding Qing had laid the trap beforehand.
Even if they had killed him immediately, the chemical plant was already rigged to release the toxin.
And now—
The ambush outside was likely waiting to pick them off.
Ding Qing was ruthless.
But why?
Why was a man willing to serve a monster so willing to risk his own life?
Lin Xian’s voice cut through the tense silence.
"You really think we came here alone?"
Ding Qing narrowed his eyes.
"It doesn’t matter."
He lifted his black rifle, his expression turning cold.
"You already tried running last night.
"Do you really think you can escape Rain Town?"
His voice hardened.
"Even if you somehow kill the Mutant Giant Parasite, do you think my men will just let you go?"
KIKI struggled to sit up, her breath ragged.
"You're insane… treating those monsters like guardian deities while sacrificing humans…"
Her chest heaved.
"You're worse than the bandits."
Something in Ding Qing’s face twisted.
"Call me insane if you want," he snapped.
"Call me a dog if you want."
He gestured toward Rain Town.
"Do you know how many people live here? 257.
"66 from my convoy.
"191 Jintong survivors."
His voice shook.
"They just want to live.
"Tell me—what crime did they commit?!"
Lin Xian let out a cold chuckle.
"So the hundreds of people you fed to the monster—
"Those were what, acceptable sacrifices?"
Ding Qing’s face darkened.
"Enough talk."
His exoskeleton suit whirred loudly as he aimed his long rifle at Lin Xian.
"You’re marked.
"You can’t escape.
"And I won’t let you."
WHOOSH!
The long rifle launched forward like a black spear, cutting through the air at terrifying speed.
"LIN XIAN!"
KIKI lunged forward, arms raised—
She tried activating her Ability—
But nothing happened.
Her heart sank.
The black rifle tore toward them—
And then—
CLANG!
A mechanical arm caught it mid-air.
KIKI’s breath hitched.
Lin Xian stood firm, his HG55 Mechanical Prosthetic Arm extended, gripping the weapon tight.
"What—?!"
Ding Qing's eyes widened in horror.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Gunfire erupted outside.
A shadow rushed in, wielding a glowing electric blade.
Ding Qing’s men dropped like flies.
Then—
A knife flew through the air.
Before Ding Qing could react—
SHLKT!
The blade impaled his chest.
