Apocalypse Lord-Chapter 44 - 42: Hammering Sunlight into Steel!
During the conversation between Lin Lan and others, the entire camp was eerily silent.
No one dared to disturb the Lord and Priest Sean’s discussion. Even when the priest and scholar successfully conjured a massive ’Blessing Light Group,’ the crowd remained calm.
Even the children remained silent.
They simply waited quietly for their fate, like a flock of obedient lambs.
Upon hearing the Lord’s call, people looked at each other in confusion until a sturdy, simple-faced man stepped forward.
He was relatively short and broad, with arms covered in scars from iron slag.
"I... I’m the blacksmith, my Lord..."
His speech faltered from nervousness: "I have forged horseshoes and basic farming tools for the Lord..."
"Very well." Lin Lan nodded: "What’s your name?"
"Abel, my name is Abel, my Lord."
"From today on, you will be the head of all the blacksmiths."
Lin Lan decisively said: "I plan to set up a temporary forge in the camp; you will take the lead. What do you need?"
Abel was a bit taken aback.
In his life, a noble had never sought the opinion of someone as lowly as him, suddenly making him flustered:
"My lord... I dare not presume your authority..."
"Just speak boldly." Lin Lan’s tone was gentle: "Only you understand blacksmithing here; no one will hold it against you."
Abel calmed down slightly.
Lord Roland was unlike those aloof nobles. Truthfully, he was more like a practical foreman.
Abel mustered his courage and started explaining: "My lord, we could use stones to set up a simple forge on the open ground. Besides this, I need an anvil, bellows, and a handy hammer..."
"That’s doable." Lin Lan thought for a moment and responded. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Seagull Town also has a forge, but the old blacksmith there died early, and his legacy was naturally reclaimed by the Lord. All these things are now stored in the manor’s warehouse.
Under Lin Lan’s orders, the basic tools were quickly delivered to the camp by the attendants.
Abel started getting busy.
Several other blacksmiths courageously joined the work. They chose an open ground, dug a shallow pit as a base for the forge, then stacked stone blocks to form a circular wall and filled the gaps with wet sand.
Lin Lan watched the labor quietly.
Wendy and Sean stayed by his side, vaguely guessing what the Lord meant to do.
"Lord Roland, do you intend to forge tools using Sun Ash Soil?" Sean swallowed, somewhat stunned.
With what he had been exposed to, Sean accepted that the Sunshine Blessing was indeed ’ore.’
A few pieces of Sun Ash Soil lay at their feet, but at the moment, they appeared rather ’unstable,’ with radiant beams emitting from the ore surface, especially conspicuous in the night.
"Why not?"
Lin Lan gazed at the soaring light, pondering: "To me, this is just the most straightforward use of Ash Soil."
These few pieces of ore were merely ’crude ores.’
Lin Lan hadn’t yet gained the capability to formally extract the ’third mine.’ Even though people’s souls could ascend to the Divine Kingdom, they didn’t have the willpower to reach the Ark from the giant civilization.
Let alone witness the divine remains at the bottom of the Ark, that is the true ore vein! The real good stuff!
Currently, Lin Lan could only dig the dust on the surface of the Divine Kingdom and process the Sun Ash Soil in extremely backward manners.
Even the Justice Angels and Eternal Fierce Sun hadn’t realized that the future civilization Lin Lan represented could be so humiliating...
Gathering Ash Soil from the Divine Kingdom should serve as starship fuel, right?
It might also be used as a small city’s energy reserve core.
At the very least, it could acceptably be used to create ammunition for power armor.
Wait, what even is a forge???
Lin Lan daydreamed, feeling a bit strained.
Wendy, on the other hand, showed wild flights of imagination.
In the knowledge she had once been exposed to, only the Angsak people, who mastered ancient civilization techniques, had the capability to handle the ethereal sunlight.
A professor once explained: The Angsak race inherited the sun’s will. Pure young boys and girls danced under the sunlight, then used exceedingly complex rituals to establish contact with the sun.
It’s said the sacred bullets they forged could even kill sea monsters in the depths of the ocean.
The Angsak people are world-renowned for this skill. According to rumors, each specially made bullet could auction for tens of thousands of Bright Gold Coins...
Wendy just felt the mysteries surrounding the Lord were increasing...
Where on earth did this unfathomable young man come from?
The young girl secretly glanced at Lin Lan’s profile, curiosity like a kitten scratching at her core.
The blacksmiths were incredibly dexterous.
Soon the bellows, quenching trough, and anvil were all oriented correctly, and a very simple open-air forge took shape in no time.
Everything was ready.
"My lord, what would you like to forge?" Abel approached Lin Lan, habitually lowering his head.
"First, try to forge a spear weapon using iron ingots."
Lin Lan decisively gave the directive, pointing to the Ash Soil ore on the ground: "For fuel, you must use it."
"You mean the Sunshine Blessing that Priest and Miss Wendy prayed for?"
Abel stared at the bright group on the ground, somewhat baffled: "But my lord, the blessing itself doesn’t have enough temperature, we could even touch it..."
In everyone’s sight, they watched as the Lord willingly picked up the light group and gently placed it into the forge.
"Let me demonstrate the way to use Sun Ash Soil."
Lin Lan softly said: "Abel, you must learn to awaken the light, and the simplest way is..."
He casually took a torch hanging at the camp’s edge and threw it into the forge.
——"Igniting fire with fire."
In the blacksmiths’ amazed glances, scorching golden flames suddenly danced within the forge! For an instant, the entire camp became as bright as day!
Light burned, the light roared!
Abel’s eyes grew increasingly spellbound; he had never seen such flawless fire...
"Act quickly, Abel, it’s different from ordinary flames, it won’t last long." Lin Lan reminded from the side.
Abel snapped out of it, quickly clamping the prepared iron ingot and carefully placing it into the forge.
The bellows had lost its purpose, he only sensed the iron ingot’s texture softened in a moment. Abel swiftly withdrew the iron ingot and observed carefully.
Amazingly, the iron ingot hadn’t melted into molten iron but was wrapped layer by layer by golden, beautiful flames, with sunlight evenly adhering to the iron ingot’s surface as if it was liquid gold.
Abel steadied his breathing, and as he grasped the hammer, a curious calm settled over his previously turbulent heart.
He couldn’t understand the profound discussions between the Lord and the priest scholar, nor did he grasp why the Sunshine Blessing had become perfectly intense.
Abel understood only one thing.
——In this world, only by diligently working can one find reassurance.
He lifted the hammer and then,
Slammed it down hard!
Hammering sunlight into the steel! Hammering steel into sunlight!
As if a giant’s Ark collided with the sun in the frozen cosmos, the radiant civilization perished in an instant, yet in the future reignited the sparkling fireworks!
Thus, a miracle occurred, effortlessly and unassumingly.
