Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 184 They Are Here
"It was always like that and you didn’t tell us?" Laurel asked with slightly widened eyes, and her lips pulled down as if betrayed.
Luo chuckled nervously. "You never asked..."
Ling Xuan stepped forward. "You are still cold, I’ll go outside first to search for the others." She glanced at Alexander and Chris. "Make sure you knock them unconscious if they wake up."
"You are going to leave them here?" Laurel asked, a little taken aback.
"Hmm." Ling Xuan answered curtly. "It will be easier for me to move alone rather than bringing them along."
Without saying more Ling Xuan disappeared from the space house.
"Master Laurel... you can rest a little more. I’ll stay guard over these two men." Luo finished its words as a frying pan materialized in its hands.
"You have to be careful Luo, one is a husband that I’m going to divorce and the other is a very very important patient," Laurel said weakly, her voice shivering a little before sneezing.
Luo nodded its head like a very diligent dog who understood its master’s wish.
Laurel lay down, pulling the blanket over her head. "I’m going to rest a little more... maybe I can buy some stuff too..." her speech slurred as she fell into a deep slumber.
In her dream, she was busy planting and buying thousands of farm animals with an upgraded space house. And not just that she was making a lot of money from her sales.
She sat on an elevated chair, and she stared down at the people chanting her name. "Laurel! Laurel!"
While Alexander and Chris stood on both sides of her, fanning her with huge fans made from money.
Even Ling Xuan knelt in front of her on one knee with one hand to her chest as she bowed her head.
A wide smile stretched across her lips as she saw the sea of multitudes. She let out a loud laugh as she popped a grape into her mouth.
But then, everything went silent, and the crowd parted. In the middle of the crowd was a little girl with her head lowered.
"Who is that?" Laurel asked with a deep frown as the figure was familiar to her.
The little girl raised her head, blood dripping down her face. "Save me, Aunty Laurel... Save me... I’m so scared... They are here."
Laurel’s face slowly twisted into one of horror. "T-Tina? Who is here? Why are you scared? Aren’t you saved?"
Laurel rose from the chair and descended the elevated platform, reaching towards Tina.
"Hurry Aunty... save me!" Tina reached out her hands too, but she screamed as an invisible force pulled her back.
"Tina! Tina! Come back!" Laurel ran through the parted crowd, chasing after her. But the crowd who had parted quickly closed the gap completely blocking her path as they continued to chant her name.
"No, no." She muttered under her breath as she shook her head in disbelief. She tried to push through the crowd, but for some strange reason, they remained unmoving.
"Tina!" She screamed as her gaze searched for her tiny frame, but she was already getting drowned by the crowds.
Suddenly, all the people’s eyes turned pitch black.
"Tina!" Laurel jerked up from her sleep, gasping for air.
Luo floated to her side. "Master Laurel, are you okay?"
Laurel nodded, her heart banging in her ears. A heavy weight of unease sat on her chest, as a thin layer of sweat coated her skin.
She let out a shaky breath the moment she realized it was just a dream... but the feeling of despair and Tina’s helplessness was so real that she couldn’t help but feel worried.
...
Ling Xuan materialized at the spot where they had camped the night before encountering the swamp vines.
The heavy rain of gunshots was the first thing that welcomed her, followed by growls and cries.
Her throat tightened as she watched the massive beasts with elongated teeth and black eyes attack her men ferociously.
Half of the soldiers had fallen, lying on the ground with missing parts, and some of the monsters’ corpses littered the ground.
The remaining soldiers were surrounded by the monster.
Instinctively she reached for her sword, while a crossbow and arrow materialized behind her back.
"Create an opening! We can’t remain surrounded like this." Gabriel shouted as he fired directly at the monster’s head.
Suddenly, something whooshed past his ear, lodging directly into a monster’s eye that had almost sneaked attacked him.
Gabriel’s eyes widened as he realized he was seconds from being a monster’s food.
The monster fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Hope burned in the eyes of the soldiers the moment they saw their commander.
Ling Xuan pulled three arrows at once before releasing them. The arrows swooshed through the air lodging in the monster’s head.
She rushed forward, shooting more arrows successively.
The monsters immediately locked eyes on her, and several of them broke away from the soldiers as if drawn by a stronger threat. Their bodies lowered, and their muscles flexed. They lunged forward with frightening speed, their claws tearing through the air as they rushed straight toward Ling Xuan.
She stared at them with an intense gaze as her last arrow flew forward and pierced cleanly through the eye of the leading monster.
As they drew closer, she drew out her sword in one smooth motion, stepping forward to meet them head-on rather than give them space to surround her.
The first monster reached her within seconds, its claws stretching toward her throat, but her body shifted just slightly to the side and her blade flashed in a clean horizontal arc, severing its head from its body in one precise movement.
Black blood sprayed outward and its body staggered past her before collapsing heavily onto the ground.
Another creature rushed in immediately from her right, its jaws snapping wide as it aimed for her shoulder.
Ling Xuan’s foot slid back just enough to alter her angle, her body lowering as her sword cut upward from below, splitting through its jaw and tearing straight into its skull before she twisted her wrist and pulled the blade free.
