It was a distance from the residences where the people lived and only about a hundred meters from the high wall surrounding the base.

If the tower was tall enough, this spot gave the people watching a clear view of what was happening even several thousand meters away.

If they had powerful binoculars or observation equipment, they could observe the actions taken by those at a slightly longer distance.

Chu Miao wanted to know how higher the watchtower should be to give them the results they wanted.

Thus, she converged spiritual energy under her feet and floated to the sky.

Commander Shen had learned from some of the talkative teammates of Chu Miao like Lei Ying that she was the most powerful among them and had skills that other people didn’t.

What she had not expected was that one of those skills was flying.

The leader standing next to Commander Shen was even more shocked because he had only treated Chu Miao like a slightly more knowledgeable junior, but it was obvious that he had underestimated her.

"What in the world....!!!" An exclamation came from behind Commander Shen.

It turned out that a lot of people had noticed the three of them looking around as if searching for something and thought that there was a treasure somewhere there.

So, they had followed at a distance to see if they could collect the scraps.

Others who were in a slightly higher position followed more closely and that exclamation had come from one of them.

They couldn’t be blamed for being shocked because even though they had seen many superpowers since the start of the apocalypse, they had never seen anyone levitate into the air let alone fly so high.

Chu Miao, however, seemed to be completely oblivious to the chaos she was causing as more people ran out of their houses to watch her.

She was looking around the base and moving up and down to determine how high the watch tower should be.

Looking into the distance, Chu Miao could see soldiers patrolling the area near the base, but they didn’t dare to go too far and remained within a hundred meters of the base.

In this way, they could retreat if anything happened and their safety was threatened.

She also noticed the vegetation around the base and realized that some of the plants had mutated.

However, seeing some soldiers walk past mutated plants without being attacked, she realized that not all the mutated plants were cannibals.

She observed some more to determine whether there were any differences between the different types of plants but found nothing.

She was about to go down and report her observing results when something unexpected happened.

A few zombies stumbled within her range of sight and to her surprise, the mutated plants that had been quiet and docile suddenly turned into man-eating plants.

Some grew like vines and wrapped around the zombies, crashing them and pulling them underground.

Others suddenly extended and grew rapidly before their leaves opened like huge mouths and swallowed the zombies whole.

After all the zombies were eliminated, the plants shrank again and became docile once more.

If Chu Miao hadn’t witnessed everything with her own eyes, she wouldn’t have believed it if someone told her.

However, the actions of those mutated plants got her thinking.

Soldiers had been walking among those plants but nothing happened, however, as soon as zombies showed up, they were all either pulled underground or swallowed.

This indicated that the plants seemed to be predators, but their prey wasn’t humans but zombies.

She had to do an experiment to confirm this thought and also discuss it with others.

She floated back down and realized that there was a crowd a short distance away looking at her as if she was an alien.

She had just acted subconsciously earlier and hadn’t considered that this was the mortal world and even though superpowers had appeared, they weren’t as outrageous as the cultivation of spiritual energy.

She hadn’t considered that people here might find her action of floating in the air to be unacceptable.

But to her surprise, all she heard among the crowd that had gathered was how awesome she was and how some wished they could do the same.

Hearing the whispers, she felt relieved realizing that the minds of people had opened up after the apocalypse and they were more accepting of unusual situations.

If it was before the apocalypse and someone saw her floating in the air, she would have been accused of sorcery and probably burned to death.

It was astonishing how humans only grew in the face of calamity.

By the time Chu Miao landed back on the ground, Commander Shen’s shock had already subsided and he had accepted that the girl was unique and couldn’t be measured using the same scale used on others.

"How was it? Is this place suitable?" Commander Shen asked as soon as Chu Miao’s feet touched the ground.

"It’s suitable. The watchtower should be at least eighty meters high to allow the observers to see far enough to give us time to prepare and respond in case of an attack." Chu Miao relayed the information she had gathered and what she thought.

"That’s good. Did you notice anything else? You seem preoccupied." Commander Shen had understood Chu Miao quite well in the past two days and could tell that she wasn’t just thinking about the height of the watchtower.

"I did notice something else but I would prefer to discuss it when we meet the others later." She wanted to digest the scenes she had seen and think of how to take advantage of the situation to their advantage. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Is it that serious?" The Commander asked curiously that s time.

He couldn’t think what kind of situation had gotten the little girl thinking so hard.

However, from the limited knowledge he had of her personality, he could tell that whatever she had discovered was life-changing for them.

So, he didn’t keep prying since she didn’t want to talk about it at that moment.

"You will find out soon." Chu Miao continued to keep the old man in suspense and turned to ask the leader showing them around to take them to the best place to place the water tanks.
