Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Using the Treasure-seeking Talismans

The people around her just looked at her like some alien from outer space who was trying to poison them.

No one moved or said anything.

They all looked as if they had been frozen in place.

No one could blame them for thinking that they were dreaming.

It had been so long since some of them smelled the aroma of meat or something as fresh as soup.

All of them thought that they were hallucinating and the scene in front of them wasn’t real.

They were afraid of moving and shattering the illusion. So, everyone remained in place and refused to move an inch.

Chu Miao, however, didn’t understand their sentiments and thought that they were dissatisfied with the meal she had offered.

"Is it that you don’t like the soup or is it the buns?" She asked curiously, her brows furrowed so much they could trap a fly.

It was at that moment when they heard the slightly sweet but firm voice of the teenage girl who had shown up a short while ago that the people there realized that they weren’t dreaming or hallucinating.

The scene was real and so was the food.

Without waiting for a second invitation, everyone flocked to the table and grabbed a bowl of soup in one hand and a bun in the other.

They wolfed down the food , some even without chewing as if they were afraid it would be taken away.

After supplies became scarce, they had never had a full meal. They only took a few bites of whatever they managed to scavenge and save the rest for later.

In a day, a grown man would probably survive on a couple of biscuits and half a glass of water.

When they had a better harvest, they would manage to cook a bowl of porridge.

They hadn’t seen any green vegetables in such a long time that they had almost forgotten that vegetables used to be part of their daily menu.

Now, however, they had meat and vegetables in the same bowl. Moreover, it was a big bowl that filled them even without the bun.

Most of them hid the buns in their pockets and didn’t plan on eating it at that time.

Chu Miao, Ye Xuan, and Lei Ying, who was also at the site witnessed all this but pretended not to see anything.

Chu Miao just set up a small water tank on the side with disposable cups for the workers to drink when they needed it.

She also placed more soup bowls and buns in a space ring and gave it to Lei Ying.

"Take the food inside to the other sites. Do you have water you can set up for them?" She wanted to go there in person but Liang Wei was still waiting for her.

"Sure, do I add some of that water?" Lei Ying asked. They all knew about the spiritual spring water, so he wanted to know if it should be added to the water tanks.

"Sure, but only a little. No need to put a lot of it. There is some in the soup anyway." Chu Miao explained before kissing Ye Xuan on the cheek and teleporting away.

She appeared a couple hundred meters away from the base and met up with Liang Wei and a group of soldiers already waiting for her there.

"You are here." As soon as she appeared, Liang Wei walked over to Chu Miao and saluted her.

He had already informed the others about her teleportation ability so even though they were surprised, they weren’t shocked when she appeared out of thin air.

"Yeah, let’s go. It will be dark soon and not suitable for hunting." Chu Miao didn’t want to waste any time and grabbed Liang Wei’s arm.

She didn’t hold his hand because she believed that was Ye Xuan’s exclusive action, so she just grabbed his arm.

"Hold onto each other and don’t let go." She instructed seriously even before greeting the soldiers.

It was because she didn’t want the remaining light to disappear before they ascertain whether the talisman would work on zombies or not.

The others were soldiers and had been told by Liang Wei that Chu Miao was the leader and they had to follow her orders.

As trained soldiers, they had no problem following orders.

So as soon as the order was given for them to hold onto each other, they acted within seconds and everyone was holding on to the hand of another.

Liang Wei also grabbed the person closest to him and all of them were now connected.

Without another word, Chu Miao teleported out of there.

A couple of minutes later, she appeared in the city where a group of about a hundred zombies stood.

They seemed to be in a meeting of some kind and one of them that seemed to be the leader stood at the front facing the rest.

They were mumbling things that couldn’t be understood, but their fellow zombies seemed to understand them.

As soon as they appeared, the zombies seemed to have smelled them and loud growls began escaping their mouths.

"Here." Chu Miao took out rifles and shared them among the group.

Every person got a rifle and bullets.

She also took out the treasure-seeking talismans and pasted them on each of them.

After activating them, she gave the order.

"Concentrate your sight on the head of the zombies and see if you can locate the crystal core." She instructed in a voice that was low but everyone around her heard her words clearly.

"Yes boss." The soldiers replied in unison and looked towards the numerous heads of zombies moving at high speed towards them.

Chu Miao hoped that the talismans would work because then they could still use the guns and bullets.

If they were useless, then the guns would also become useless because they could no longer kill a zombie.

To her surprise, the soldiers took aim and began shooting after only a few breaths.
