Unlike the ordinary survivors or regular superpower users, the cultivators could see further.

Even before the zombie tide could get close enough for those on the wall to see them, Chu Miao and her fellow cultivators had already spotted them on the horizon.

A dark line that stretched unnaturally wide appeared on the horizon.

Ye Xuan looked at the dark line that was coming closer at a slow pace and sighed.

"What is it?" Commander Shen, who was standing close to him, heard his sigh and asked curiously.

"There are more than expected." Ye Xuan replied in a deep voice.

However, there wasn’t any worry or fear in his face. That was a good sign. Commander Shen thought.

"How many?" Another leader who had insisted on joining the battle personally asked.

He didn’t question how Ye Xuan knew about the number of zombies attacking.

They had learned over the last week not to doubt the power of these people.

"Too many." That was all Ye Xuan said, but this only increased the tension in the atmosphere.

"How long before they arrive?" Commander Shen asked.

"It will probably take at least two hours before they arrive within attacking range." Chu Miao replied while observing the movement on the horizon while levitating in the air, higher above the perimeter wall.

"I just hope their destruction power won’t cause the walls of the base to collapse, because if that happened, then the innocent survivors including the old, sick, and children in the base can’t be protected." President Yu suddenly appeared on the wall as well.

He had gone to another fighting zone earlier to introduce Grandpa Chu and Grandpa Li who would be leading their own armies in the battle.

Chu Miao came back down to the wall and exchanged glances with Ye Xuan.

Commander Shen seemed to see through them and asked directly.

"Do you have a way to protect the base?" He knew that the two had some secrets, and he never thought of digging into them, but now wasn’t the time to be conservative.

"Probably, but we will still need to make sure the wall isn’t attacked repeatedly." Chu Miao was thinking of setting up a temporary defensive array around the base.

The problem with this is that the more it was attacked, the more the power of the array drained. So, they still had to protect it.

"That’s better than nothing. Please do what you need to do." President Yu didn’t wait to hear if there were any conditions and immediately gave the go ahead.

"Alright. Ah Xuan. Let’s work together to set it up. We will probably be done before the zombies arrive." Chu Miao said to her partner.

"Okay." Ye Xuan agreed immediately." This would be the first large-scale array they would be setting together since he started learning how to build array formations.

Chu Miao took out different things from the Soul Ring storage warehouse.

Different kinds of stones were taken out and some shared with Ye Xuan.

"You start in the Southern area, I will go North. We can meet in the middle." Chu Miao said and Ye Xuan nodded with a smile before turning into a black streak of light and disappearing in the Southern direction while Chu disappeared on the spot.

"Can Major Ye teleport too?" A soldier on the wall asked, his mouth so wide an egg could fit inside.

Ye Xuan had left so fast that anyone with a bad sight didn’t even manage to see that streak of light.

"I don’t think so, but I believe he can run faster than the flash." Another soldier who had managed to see a streak of black light when Ye Xuan left said.

Ye Xuan and Chu Miao spent the next hour and a half burying array stones on the ground around the perimeter wall and setting up a defensive formation.

They both completed the array by placing stones near the wall where the president and Commander Shen were still waiting observing the zombies that were now starting to be visible in the horizon.

Once the array was completed, the two shot spiritual energy into the formation and activated it.

A white light flashed around the safe base before disappearing. However, when one walked to the wall, they could feel an invisible barrier stopping them.

"How incredible." A soldier who had been overcome by curiosity exclaimed after touching it.

"Now the defensive barrier is activated. But we will have to take it down before the battle starts. It is only to be activated when we can no longer fight." Chu Miao explained before jumping down to the place she had buried the last stone.

"Grandpa Shen, President, if you need to turn it off, just move the stone here slightly.

When you want to activate it, move the stone back in place.

It is a formation, so you must make sure you know exactly where the stone should be placed. Otherwise, the shield will not work." Chu Miao explained the principle of the defensive array before deactivating it.

She didn’t want to leave and then they couldn’t even use the array without a cultivator to use spiritual energy to activate it.

"Thank you, both of you for your help. Everyone, prepare for battle." Commander Shen thanked them before calling out to the surprised soldiers and survivors to start their final preparations.

As the people moved into formations, the zombies army could be seen moving faster.

Growls and roars followed by the sound of messy footsteps as millions of zombies surrounded the base from all sides.

Luckily, they hadn’t concentrated their preparations only at the front, but all around the base.

Otherwise, they would be in big trouble now that they were surrounded from all directions.

The survivors waiting to engage in battle watched as the zombies running messily at the front were entangled by plants that were growing at the speed of light and either decapitated, swallowed whole, or dragged underground.

It was a scary sight, but the survivors cheered instead.

Seeing so many zombies perish even before they got near the trenches they had dug was exhilarating.
