Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive-Chapter 553: Punishment
Chu Miao and the others could feel anger rising when they heard this.
"It is stated very clearly that everyone who is recruited into the sect must read all the rules and understand them. Did the person who committed a violation not understand this or did they simply ignore the rules?" Chu Miao asked angrily.
"We printed booklets with the rules and regulations of the sect and gave a copy to every member recruited and reminded them to read them before doing anything else. So, they know the rules clearly." Yang Leo didn’t want to carry the blame for something someone else did. So, he immediately defended the administration office.
"Okay, where is the person who committed that violation?" Grandpa Chu asked without waiting for his granddaughter who was starting to lose control of her aura again speaking.
Ye Xuan had to slowly rub Chu Miao’s back to sooth her and calm her down. Otherwise, the whole room would suffer with how pressure was rolling off of her like waves during a tide.
"He is locked up in the dungeon. When you came in we were discussing whether it was okay to lock him up or we were overreacting." Gu Fan, one of the people who had come to the meeting room earlier explained.
"There is nothing like overreacting. He violated the rules by not performing his duties and lying about it. A situation that nearly cost some sect members their lives. If the zombies that ambushed them were so strong and they didn’t have the means to escape, what do you think would have happened? That whole team would have been wiped out. How can it be considered overreacting when you respond according to the rules?" Chu Miao asked angrily, her eyes nearly spitting fire.
She was already burdened by her mission of ending the apocalypse, yet her supposed teammates were causing trouble.
Her goal was to save as many lives as possible by the end of the apocalypse, but now people have stopped treating life with respect and doing things that would endanger others without feeling remorse. She couldn’t encourage such behavior.
"Then, what do we do about Lauda?" Yang Leo asked cautiously.
He had never seen Chu Miao so angry and to be honest, he never wanted to experience it again. She hadn’t done anything yet, but one could feel their life slipping away. Quite literally.
"Follow the rules. No need to hold them in the dungeon. You are wasting resources on someone who isn’t worth it because even in the dungeon he will need food. Kick him out of the sect and make sure he doesn’t take anything that doesn’t belong to him." Ye Xuan gave the verdict without wasting time on useless discussion.
Since the person knowingly violated the rules, they had to face the consequences.
"Isn’t that a bit too harsh? No one died anyway. He could just be given a warning." Someone in the room said.
Chu Miao turned to look at the speaker. It was a girl, about twenty years old. She had never seen her before, so she turned to Yang Leo and raised an eyebrow as if to ask who she was.
"That is Dotty. She joined the sect two weeks ago, a day after you left. She is quite powerful with a fire superpower and also picked up cultivation very fast. She is part of the security team." Yang Leo explained the identity of the young lady who spoke.
"Well, if she is on the security team, then you made a mistake. Put her somewhere she doesn’t have to deal with issues concerning the security of the sect and its members." Chu Miao didn’t mince her words when she ordered the change in duties.
"Yes, Sect Master." Yang Leo sighed after accepting the order.
He had warned Dotty about crossing Chu Miao. Even though Chu Miao was young and treated everyone equally without caring about their background or relationships, she was never soft-hearted. If someone endangered others, she would not hold back.
Why did Dotty have to speak up at this time?
"What? Why? I didn’t do anything wrong." Dotty stood up in agitation, knocking her chair over.
"The fact that you think you did nothing wrong is already wrong." Chu Hao, who always goofed around, said solemnly.
When it came to his sister, he was the most protective brother in history.
"What do you mean?" Dotty asked.
Actually, she liked Chu Hao and had done a lot to get close to him. Even showing her power and getting on the security team was a calculated move to get close to him because he usually organized security teams.
Yet now he was speaking to her like she didn’t matter to him at all. How could he do that just because Chu Miao said something?
"Someone who is supposed to ensure the safety of sect members screwed up and put them in danger. And it wasn’t a mistake, but deliberate, yet you see nothing wrong with that just because no one died. What if they didn’t have the talismans my sister gave them? What would have happened to them? They would all be dead. Is that the only time you would think that the perpetrator deserves punishment?" Chu Hao asked aggressively this time.
He had always thought that Dotty was only opinionated but she was a good asset for the sect. He hadn’t expected her to be so useless.
"I...I....I just think that since everyone is okay now, the punishment Lauda receives should also be less. He could be asked to do some hard labor as a punishment instead of kicking him out. What will happen to him if he leaves the sect?" Dotty asked.
Chu Miao and the others understood that she was concerned about a teammate, but she neglected the more people who could have died due to Lauda’s mistake.
"No, he will be expelled from the sect. The rules were set to be followed. Everyone needs to know that if they break the rules, they will receive the corresponding punishment." Chu Miao asked as if in an interrogation.
