Chapter 54: Chapter 54: The Base’s Farming Plan

Su Yining shifted her phone screen, suddenly missing her cute little chibis who still stayed at the base. How are they doing? Without Yuanyuan at the base, are they still safe?

Xie Ziyuan had left the base to Lin Yuyao to manage during their absence. It was still the early development of the base, and as such, there weren’t too many things to manage yet, fortunately.

In the darkness, she spotted the figure of a young woman with rabbit ears, Wan Lan. The latter was staring at the polybags filled with soil, her eyes soft.

They were planning to farm in the castle and already made some preparations, huh?

Su Yining pondered about it. The farming space seemed to be inaccessible to other beastmen other than her Yuanyuan.

She had seen him teleporting. At first, she thought he was using the teleportation talisman she had bought from the package, however, after multiple teleportations, she realized he hadn’t.

The farming space might be his exclusive space, Su Yining figured.

At this moment, Lin Yuyao and the other beastmen were still busying themselves preparing their dinner.

"Yuyao, be careful!" Another beastman exclaimed. Lin Yuyao halted her steps, startled. She nearly crashed into someone.

The female gray cat sucked in a deep breath, relieved. Luckily, the plate on her hand didn’t topple over. She was holding a small plate filled with the roasted fierce beast meat.

"Sorry," she let out a sigh.

"You must be tired. Take a rest, Yuyao. Or do you have something in your mind?" Yun Zhi, a female beastman, asked. She carried the elegance of her species, a crane.

"It’s about my brother," Lin Yuyao let out a sigh. "He is with Master Xie. I hope he won’t make trouble."

Yun Zhi smiled. "Everyone here can make trouble, but your brother. Don’t worry, he should be fine." She paused, taking another step and snatched the plate from Lin Yuyao.

"Go get some rest. You have been working hard digging soil with Wan Lan all day." She gently pushed her away.

"Alright." Lin Yuyao nodded and glanced at Wan Lan. The latter had just stopped filling in the polybags with soil some minutes ago. She was truly a dedicated rabbit.

Everyone could tell that Wan Lan was really excited.

The beastmen had few things to do, so they went to dig soil the moment they heard about the farming plan.

The key to the gate of the base remained with Xie Ziyuan, so they were forced to go through the air. Mo Lingfeng turned into an eagle and brought them out. Unfortunately, they could only send two or three beastmen at a time.

They were just being vigilant, sending beastmen with smaller true beast forms. After all, the world outside the base was dangerous. In case there were dangers they couldn’t handle, Mo Lingfeng could snatch them up quickly.

Among the beastmen in the base, Lin Yuyao and Wan Lan belonged to the small type.

"Wan Lan, take a break. You have been staring at the polybags for so long." Lin Yuyao couldn’t help but tease the female rabbit. "Anyone might think those polybags are your boyfriends!"

Wan Lan was startled, whipping her head in Lin Yuyao’s direction. Her eyes were bright, no longer devoid of life like when they were in the trafficker’s place.

"Yuyao, you scared me!" Wan Lan complained in her soft voice, clutching her chest.

"Let’s go." Lin Yuyao dragged her away from the rows of polybags.

As they headed to the resting place, Wan Lan furrowed her brows. She bit her lip. "Yuyao, I have taken note of the plants around the base. There aren’t many smaller plants that are edible."

Since they were planning to grow the plants using the small polybags, they needed to carefully consider the plant type. Some plants might grow too big to fit the polybags.

"Let’s think about it later." Lin Yuyao shook her head. "I will try to find a way. Maybe there are bigger containers we can use."

Wan Lan shook her head. "Focus on the smaller plants for the time being."

Wan Lan’s ability was related to nature. In the apocalyptic era where food was scarce, not everyone could do farming. The plants needed extreme care. One wrong move, and the plants might die.

Edible plants were more delicate, especially the smaller ones. Although they had some kind of ability to deal with pollutants, it didn’t mean that they were invulnerable.

If they were planted in soil with too much pollution from the amount they previously could bear, they might be unable to adapt. There were also some plants which could die if they were planted in soil with less pollution from the previous planting site.

Wan Lan could make an estimation based on her ability, deciphering the plants’ emotions. Her current power level was weak, so there were also a lot of constraints, but it was enough for the time being.

They could start with simpler and smaller plants first.

Su Yining suddenly became more interested in their farming plan. Maybe... she could try to do farming in reality too? She had never thought of it before. Her life always revolved around work with no time to care about everything else. Hence, she was worried she couldn’t take care of some potted plants.

Soon, the beastmen at the base enjoyed their dinner. The scene looked quite peaceful, filled with giggles and warmth from the fireplace. No wonder they didn’t choose to cook in the kitchen.

Even Su Yining was a little envious.

"Yuyao, do you know when your brother and Master Xie will be back?" Zhou Yunhan asked.

Su Yining subconsciously moved her screen to Xie Ziyuan’s location when she saw the question. They had finished interrogating Elder Peng and the wolf beastman.

She should be regretting that she missed an exciting scene... however, surprisingly, she didn’t. Because Lin Yuyao and Wan Lan’s conversation gave her some ideas.

Her life finally turned quiet and peaceful ever since Zhao Yuyin, her stepmother, left her alone. Her scumbag fiance, Chen Kaixuan was also busy flirting with Han Zhicong through texts, so having some potted plants to accompany her didn’t sound like a bad idea.

Unfortunately, she had to go to work tomorrow. When Xie Ziyuan and others went to rest, she finally did too.

The next day, after Elder Peng’s confession, they used him to contact the mysterious person.

Surprisingly, it was a familiar figure.
