"Anyway, even his father and mother don’t care about him; why should I care for him? Who are you to me?" As soon as she finished speaking, Bai Meiyue turned around on her feet and headed towards the crowd of zombies, ignoring the shocked man and the terrified Jiang Haidai.

"Brother Lei, this..." Yun Chuan turned and looked at Lei Qian, who shook his head and said to him, "Leave such matters in her hands, even if Yueyue says unkind words like these. She will not kill the child nor will she put him in danger."

Lei Qian knew that even if Bai Meiyue sometimes spoke really harsh words, she would never do something so cruel as killing an innocent child.

Sure enough, just as Bai Meiyue turned around and walked three steps close to the staggering zombies, the woman exclaimed, "Stop! Don’t do it. I will come down; I will come down; please don’t kill my Guo Guo."

Jiang Haidai was scared silly.

When she thought about it carefully, she realised that Bai Meiyue was right. She and that woman had nothing to do with one another, so why would Bai Meiyue care for her son? This world had turned so crazy that even Meng Guo’s father refused to give her and her son a piece of bread.

He even dropped her son from such a height, all because he wanted Bai Meiyue and her team to save them.

Bai Meiyue was right. When the parents were not caring about her son, why would she care about him?

Jiang Haidai turned on her feet and scratched Mister Meng’s face a few more times before running inside the house.

However, the man didn’t even flinch, as he was still recovering from his shock. This woman — wasn’t she too cruel? When he saw Bai Meiyue come out of the car, he thought that the woman was truly moved by the presence of a child and a pregnant woman.

That she would rush upstairs and save them, but after catching Meng Guo, she told them that she was going to kill him? And if she couldn’t kill him, would she sell him to a pervert? This woman—was she truly a woman?

"What are you doing? Where are you going?" the man snapped out of his daze when he heard his wife’s roar. He turned around and saw Jiang Haidai looking around in the kitchen and finally found a long panga machete. She turned on her feet and headed to the main entrance.

"What do you think you are doing!?" Master Meng shouted when he saw the woman escaping. This woman was still carrying his child, and from the ultrasound, this child was a son and a normal son at that! How could he let go of her?

He chased after Jiang Haidai wanting to stop her but as soon as he reached out to hold her, Jiang Haidai wheeled around and waved the panga.

"AHHH!" Mister Meng screamed when the blade cut through his skin and blood started to ooze out.

He looked at the cut on his arm and then raised his head to glare at Jiang Haidai with eyes popping out of their sockets.

"Have you gone crazy, woman?"

Hearing his bad tone, Jiang Haidai simply laughed. She glared right back at the man and said, "Yes, I have gone crazy! I have gone crazy!" As she spoke, she waved the panga in her hands again and again. "You beasts! I came to your house to work but you captured me and made me give birth to your children. You had so many ways to do it but you just had to pick this one."

"If that wasn’t bad enough, you bastard—you treated my son like he was an animal! You and your family will die horrible deaths! Just you wait!"

Jiang Haidai didn’t care whom she slashed with her panga. It was only when the entire Meng family was crouching on the floor that she looked a bit better. Glaring at them with a look of pure loathing, she spat on the floor and ran out. In the past, she couldn’t do anything to them.

As the Meng family had many connections, she was locked up by them 24/7, never stepping out of the house; she was tied like a dog. In the morning she had to take care of the family like a servant and at night she was treated like a toy by these three men.

She couldn’t do anything to them back then; now that the situation was like this where she didn’t know whether she was going to survive or not, how could she not avenge herself?

Jiang Haidai raised the panga and slashed it down heavily. She cut down Master Meng and his wife’s throat. It was this woman who asked her husband to capture her and even drugged her tea to make her sleep with her husband.

"AHHH!"

Ignoring the screams of the Meng family, Jiang Haidai rushed out of the house with a determined look in her eyes.

Bai Meiyue was sitting on the hood of the car and watching the zombies linger outside the building where the Level One zombie was. She was coaxing the child into her arms but as the heartache continued to get worse, she handed the child to Lei Qian.

"What? What?" Lei Qian came to stand next to her with her two brothers to protect Bai Meiyue; he never wanted to hold the child in his arms. He, a straight man, had never held a child in his arms.

"What are you acting so surprised about? Just hold the child until his mother comes downstairs?" Bai Meiyue wanted to hold the child but she dared not to; she was worried that she would hug the child and collapse. If that happened, she might not be able to let go of the child even if his mother came downstairs.

There was a time when such an instance happened and she refused to let go of the doll and even fought with his mother. Back then, when she lost Cai Cai, she was no different from a zombie. When she saw a child, she would see her son’s image in him or her.

Because the wound was quite fresh, she had mistakenly snatched a child from another woman. She refused to believe that her son was gone and didn’t hand the child back to the woman. It took quite a long time for her to calm down and with that came the acceptance that her son was dead.

Bai Meiyue was scared of feeling the same anguish again.
