Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 290: Memories of that night
The man didn't even think twice before he reached out to help her up and then brought her inside the room. His cold skin comforted the burning sensation in her body. Bai Meiyue reached out and hugged him tight, clutching him as if she was drowning and he was her only straw.
"He–help me." She repeated as her lips brushed against the crook of his neck. "It's so hot… so hot."
She muttered in Lei Qian's ear like a charming siren; she pleaded with the man, asking him to give him the comfort that she was begging for. Lei Qian lowered his head and kissed her before dragging her inside the bedroom. As he was in a hurry, his elbow hit the vase that was sitting on top of the tea table, and it fell on the floor.
BANG.

Bai Meiyue sat up straight and looked around. Her blurry vision made it difficult for her to see through dreams and reality.
Bang. bang. Bang.
Hearing the continuous bangs, Bai Meiyue blinked her eyes and then scrunched up her eyes and looked at the door of her room. She took a moment to collect her bearings and then got up from the bed before crossing the room and opening the door. Outside her room stood Mother Bai, who was staring at her with a look of half concern and half anger.
She asked Bai Meiyue, "What's going on? I have been knocking on the door for so long. Why did you open the door just now?"
"I was just taking a nap." Seeing that her mother was eyeing her suspiciously, she added in a swift manner, "I have been staying outside, and there was no safehouse. Now that I am back home, I couldn't help but fall into a deep sleep." She then paused and asked, "What's the matter, mother? Did something happen?"
"What else? I was asking you to come and eat something. Look at the time; it's already evening. Don't you feel hungry?" Mother Bai remarked as she pointed to the window. Bai Meiyue turned her head and looked at the dark sky, which was illuminated by the many twinkling stars.
Only then did Bai Meiyue realise that she had been sleeping from the morning till the evening. A bit embarrassed, she pursed her lips and turned to look at her mother with an awkward expression.
Though the discomfort in her stomach made her feel a bit nauseated, Bai Meiyue persuaded Mother Bai with a comforting smile on her face as she didn't want her mother to nag her. She said to Mother Bai, "Now that you have said it, I think I am a bit hungry, mother."
Upon hearing her response, Mother Bai simply rolled her eyes and said to her, "You girl, I wonder what you will do without me. I even have to come up and tell you that it's time to eat."
"Mom, aren't you with me? Why should I worry about something so simple?" Bai Meiyue coaxed her mother and sent her downstairs. Once Mother Bai was gone, she closed the door and rushed to the restroom, where she threw up. She couldn't understand why Little Cai Cai was doing this to her.
When Lei Qian comforted her, Bai Meiyue was sure that she did not throw up like this. So why was it that now that she was alone, her son was no longer acting honest?
Don't tell her that her son was already in favour of his father?
The thought made her furious; she was the one who was carrying him in her womb and yet this dishonest boy was standing up for his father. However, because her emotional distress started to heighten, she started to throw up even harder. By the time she stopped throwing up, Bai Meiyue's face turned extremely pale. She leaned against the wall, looking really vulnerable, but there was no one to help her.
She pushed herself up and then went to clean her face. After washing her mouth, she changed her clothes and went downstairs.
It was really late in the evening, and yet Bai Meiyue could hear the roars of the zombies coming from downstairs. When she stepped down the last stair, she saw Lei Qian standing in the kitchen with Mother Bai. The two of them were having quite a good time discussing whatever the topic was going on between them.
Mother Bai was cutting vegetables while Lei Qian was in charge of cooking them.
From the tantalising scent that was coming from the kitchen, it could be seen that Lei Qian was no less skilled than Mother Bai in terms of cooking. She glanced at the two of them who were having quite a good time and then turned to look at Shen Zhen and Zhou Hongbei, who were clearing an area upstairs to set up the incubators that they had carried from the hospital.
Director Feng was sitting with Bai Jixuan and was busy drowning his sorrows with a really strong wine. Though he knew that there was nothing he could have done, since his wife turned into a zombie, he still couldn't help but feel a bit regretful.
He and Nan Zhi had grown up together. The two of them were childhood sweethearts and they treated each other with love and respect. He always believed that with his health, he would be the one who would pass away sooner and before his wife.
But look at how fate turned out? He was still here but his wife, who was healthier than him, was gone just like that. When he thought about how Nan Zhi used to do a lot of charity and attend numerous charity events, he couldn't help but feel sorry for his wife.
"She was a kind woman," Director Feng said in a drunken voice. "A truly kind woman; it's such a shame that she is gone just like that." he cried softly, wiping the tears off his face as he patted Bai Jixuan's hand.
