When Bai Meiyue woke up, she was quite surprised to find that she had levelled up to level seven. Bai Meiyue was pleasantly surprised by this; it seemed like she truly awakened under a desperate situation. Bai Meiyue remembered that in her past life, she awakened when she was forced into a corner as well. This was nothing surprising; only when a person was pushed past his or her limits was he or she able to awaken. This was something that Bai Meiyue knew.

Now that I am awakened to another level, it will be easier for me to build the ice bridge—speaking of the ice bridge, where was Ciyi? She was sure that she had sent the little pup to guard Lei Qian, but she was nowhere to be found.

"Where did she go?" Bai Meiyue wondered worriedly. She was worried that the little pup was in some dangerous situation and was rather concerned. Because the little one had never gone missing for so long before. Bai Meiyue was worried, but she also couldn’t leave Lei Qian. The man was injured and evolving. Leaving him alone would be dangerous not only for him but also for others.

If he woke up and ended up losing control of his powers without someone to control and calm him down, there was a very good chance that this man would end up killing a few people. And knowing Lei Qian, he would probably die of guilt if he were to kill people under his loss of control. Lei Qian was a lot of things, but he was certainly not a murderer and neither did he enjoy killing others.

"I cannot leave, and I cannot help but worry about Ciyi." Bai Meiyue rubbed the space between her brows, feeling a bit annoyed at the present situation. One worry was enough to make her feel worried for the entire day; there was no need for the heavens to add more troubles to the current situation.

On the other side, Ciyi was growling at the people who had caught her and trapped her in the small cage. She was supposed to be following Lei Qian, but she ended up running to the safe house where the database centre was located. All Ciyi wanted was to help Lei Qian, but who would have thought that while she was returning, she would be caught by these bastards? They actually caught her and then brought her to this place. If she had known that taking a nap was going to lead her to be caught, then she would not have bothered at all. She would have kept running. At least that way, she would have reached Bai Meiyue without being caught!

"Look at this little thing," sneered one of the thugs. With one of his hands resting on the top of the cage, he was peering inside the metal cage through the metal bars. "It is growling as if it can understand what we are saying."

The leader of the thugs, Boss Su, peered down at the pup that was going all wild inside the cage and said to his idiotic subordinates, "You’d better be careful. If you think that this is some normal pup, then you are damn wrong. The beasts of this time and era have gotten more and more out of control. Not to mention, they had gained sentience. It is our sheer luck that we caught this little thing when she was sleeping; if not, do you think that you could have caught this little thing?"

Ciyi let out another growl upon hearing the words of the leader. That’s right; if these jerks had not caught her when she was sleeping, then there would have been no way they could have caught her.

"Boss Su," one of the thugs called out the next second. He raised his hand and asked in a slow voice, "Are we really going to hand this sentient being to Master Su? He is not exactly the kind of man who loves animals. Is he?"

The thugs had long heard about the actions and tyranny of Master Su. That kind of man was not the kind of person who would actually keep a dog and even treat her well.

Leader Su rolled his eyes at the thug who had asked such a stupid question. He raised his hand and slapped him on the back. "Do you think that Master Su has time to waste? Naturally, he doesn’t care about such a thing at all. We are bringing this dog back to him because if Master Su were to sell him, she would fetch a good price. Why else do you think we are bringing her back?"

Upon hearing this, Ciyi barked even harder. She really missed Bai Meiyue. She wanted to go back to her; if not for the fact that this cage was especially equipped, she wouldn’t have bothered growling at these idiots at all. Was she the kind of person, no dog, who would let these idiots capture her? 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

However, as much as she was angry, there was nothing that she could do about the current situation.

"Look at her growl," another thug tittered. "If not for the fact that this cage cannot be broken, I am afraid that this beast would have broken this cage long ago and bitten our heads off."

"You are right." Boss Su curled his lips and looked at the little mutt that was growling and snarling at him. He raised his foot and kicked the cage, which made Ciyi stagger. She raised her head and snapped her teeth at the jerk who had kicked her cage, but that was all she could do. With her eyes flickering, she scrambled to the end of the cage. Even though she wanted to fight against these people, she knew very well that they were going to hurt her if she dared to test their limits.

So, it was better to be docile. This was a technique that she learnt when she was locked up in the adoption centre.

Boss Su curled his lips and smiled when he saw the beast going all silent.
