Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 113: Help has arrived
Chapter 113: Help has arrived
When they arrived at the gate, the residents were nowhere to be found, leaving Elena confused about where they had gone.
’Did they leave because they were afraid of me? What a waste of my time.’
She was about to head back upstairs when she encountered her husband along the way.
"Husband, where are you going?"
"I was looking for you. Do you want to go downstairs together?" Ethan replied, assuming his wife already knew the situation in the building.
"What’s going on?"
"The rescuers arrived, bringing news about the typhoon. I didn’t know the specifics yet, so I planned to listen to what they had to say."
Elena finally understood why the residents had hurriedly left their floor.
She was also intrigued by the government’s response and wanted to know if it was safe to travel by boat now.
She had plans to visit the bank and museum for some zero-budget hoarding.
The jades and antiques were waving and waiting for her to take them.
The thought made her smile widely, causing Ethan to look at her with puzzlement.
"Wife?"
"Husband, let’s go and listen to the rescuers. Let’s find out if it’s safe to travel now."
Ethan nodded and took his wife’s hand as they headed downstairs.
Seeing them forget about him, Xander couldn’t help but shake his head and smile as he watched them.
He was happy that Ethan, his leader and friend, had finally achieved his dream of being with Elena.
He still remembered the day his chief asked him for advice on how to court a young lady, which made him chuckle at his awkward antics.
He quickly spoke up to announce his presence. "Chief, should I go with you?"
"No, we can handle it ourselves. Plus, we’re just going to listen to the rescuers, not engage in any fighting."
’I want to have a date with my wife for a while. Her time has been focused on the kids these past few days.’
Elena chuckled at her husband’s response and instructed Xander to return and complete his tasks.
Afterward, they went downstairs, chatting happily as they discussed their plans for when the typhoon eased.

Seeing the occupants from the upper floors, the residents kept their distance, feeling both grateful and fearful.
After investigating the raided units, they uncovered a shocking truth: the manager had been colluding with the criminals all along.
Thankfully, the situation had been dealt with; otherwise, they would have remained unknowingly blinded, placing their trust in the man who was constantly robbing them.
In the end, they chose to mind their own business and avoid getting on their bad side.
Noticing the residents’ demeanor, Elena couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows slightly.
She sensed that they were more cautious around them.
’Well, this is a better outcome.’
Elena didn’t want to make enemies with everyone in the building, but she also wouldn’t back down if they tried to provoke her.
Looking at their haggard faces, Elena could feel their distress as they looked to the rescuers with hope for help.
Some even cried while others laughed joyfully, a mix of emotions reflecting their dire situation.
For weeks, their eyes had appeared lifeless and dull, burdened by the physical and mental fatigue brought on by the ongoing disasters.
With resources dwindling, many had become disheveled and lost significant weight.
Fortunately, Elena and Ethan had changed into clothing similar to that of the residents, allowing them to blend in and maintain a low profile.
Their masks further concealed their healthy appearances; otherwise, they would face another round of envy and jealousy.
Elena then looked at the rescuers—six of them, with only two inflatable boats at their disposal.
They had braved the storm to provide updates on the situation as instructed by the government.
Everyone listened attentively, especially those from the eighth floor below, where the area was now completely flooded.
"Everyone, calm down. The government is trying its best to evacuate the citizens whose homes were flooded. We assure you we will not abandon anyone. Aside from that, the rainwater has slightly lessened, but it’s still dangerous to go out, so we suggest you remain in higher places. For now, we can only assist and prioritize the elderly and young ones," the rescuers informed them, reassuring them that the government was working hard to cater to everyone.
The sudden super typhoon caught the government off guard, as they were still grappling with the earthquake’s aftermath.
The unexpected storm overwhelmed their resources, lasting far longer than they had anticipated.
While the residents understood the government’s challenges, they felt compelled to share their dire situation.
The water levels continued to rise, and food supplies were dwindling, leaving them increasingly worried about whether the rescuers would return.
"Sir, what about us? This typhoon has made it hard for us to buy food. I’m worried we won’t last much longer without food and water."
"We brought enough supplies to last for a week, but we can’t carry any more in our boat. The water is still surging, making it difficult to maneuver. We will distribute the supplies later."
"Will this typhoon be gone after a week, sir? It seems to me that it will last longer. Will you still be able to bring us food?"
"Don’t worry. We will come back and report the situation to the center. The government will support everyone, so don’t panic."
Elena couldn’t help but reflect on her past life; a similar scenario had unfolded before.
Initially, the government delivered relief goods, but as time passed, the overwhelming situation became too much for them to manage, and they eventually stopped rescuing people.
Afterward, the rescuers began distributing relief goods to the residents.
The supplies included basic essentials—dried food, water, canned goods, and biscuits—that if rationed properly, could last more than a week.
The residents expressed their gratitude, but when they realized there were no medicines, they quickly mentioned that the elders and children were coughing nonstop, believing it was due to the cold brought by the typhoon, unaware that it was due to the fog.
"What about medicine, sir? Did you bring any? My grandparents are coughing non-stop."
The rescuers paused briefly before speaking calmly to the group. "We are still in the process of transporting the medicine back to the rescue center, as it is located in a different area. The typhoon and fog are making retrieval difficult. Our supplies are currently being used at the rescue center hospital. We will update the center on this situation."
Some were dissatisfied with the response, particularly a family with children and elderly members.
They feared that not receiving any medicine could lead to further complications.
"Sir, we urgently need medicine for flu and cough. Many young and elderly people in our building require immediate care and medicine."
"Why does the rescue center get priority for medicine? We pay taxes too. Can we at least receive some benefits? To be honest, your response during this typhoon has been too slow."
"We demand medicine! Sob... My elderly mother has been coughing non-stop. Please, sir, take him to the hospital."
"My son is also coughing. I will go with you, no matter what."
"You? Do you have a son? Are you joking? We know each other, and I know you’re single. You just want to leave this building and go to the rescue center."
"Enough! The pressing issue right now is finding medicine. Stop arguing!"
The residents began arguing again, desperate to find a way out of the building and enter the rescue center.
However, the rescuers remained resolute, instructing them to wait and assuring them they would return.
They explained that their priority was to assist families with elderly or young members, particularly those whose units were most affected by the flooding.
In the end, the rescuers promised to report the building’s lack of medicine and the residents’ overall situation.
They swiftly evacuated the elderly and young residents from the lower floors, ensuring their safety, before returning to the rescue center to coordinate further assistance.
The residents left behind shifted from expressing gratitude for the relief goods to resenting the slow and lack of medicine supply.
They began ranting to each other and asking neighbors if they had any medicine to spare.
Meanwhile, Elena and Ethan returned to Grandpa Caldwell’s unit to update them on the situation.
"The residents are clamoring to go to the rescue center, believing there will be food and that it’s a safer place."
However, with so many people crowded at the rescue center, food and sanitation could quickly become issues.
"Well, we’re planning to go to the bank later. The rain has eased a lot, but the wind is still strong, so we’re waiting for it to subside," Elena suggested.
They were in the midst of their discussion when Oslo returned, saying, "Chief, there’s a doctor at the gate asking for both of you."
"A doctor? Wife, do you know anyone here?" Ethan asked.
"Not that I’m aware of," she replied.
"Since we don’t know the person, let’s decline," Ethan said, feeling frustrated with the residents’ attitudes toward the rescuers and wanting to avoid further interactions.
But Poochi barked insistently, wanting to go downstairs, leaving them bewildered by his behavior.
"Aw~aw~aw!"
’Master, I smell someone familiar.’
Intrigued by his insistence, they decided to meet the doctor, curious about what Poochi had sensed.
