Apocalyse: Marked by Chaos-Chapter 39 - Who Are You?
Chapter 39 - 39 Who Are You?
"I'm so happy that you made it through." She murmured. In her daze, a hand suddenly shot up, holding her hand away from his face. He brought her hand to his chest. His wide palm covering hers.
"Olivia?" Little White weakly called out, his heavy eyelids slowly fluttered open. A look of relief flickered across his face, they had made it out alive, but... something was wrong, this girl had white hair and golden eyes. 'Olivia's eyes are green and her hair is black."
Eritrea stiffened. It had been a long time since someone had looked at her like that, with care... with suspicion. Her fingers twitched, but she didn't pull away.
He blinked a couple of times, trying to see her face clearly. He thought his mind was playing tricks on him. His brows furrowed, as he gazed at the girl who seemed frozen, and looks like Olivia but is not.
"Who are you?" His hand tightened around her wrist. His gaze darkened, an evil glint unknowingly flickered across his eyes.
Eritrea blinked, nerves tightening in her chest. It had been so long since she last saw him. His eyes, his aura—everything about him felt different.
" Answer me!" His voice grew icily cold, his eyes turned cold and distant. But under his cold demeanour, panic skittered down his spine. He was with Olivia before, she was the last thing he had seen, why... Why is she so different now? His deadly gaze pierced through Eritrea.
He clenched his fists, his pulse pounding in his ears. This wasn't right. Something was wrong. The Olivia he knew would never disappear like this. The more he stared at the girl before him, the more unease clawed at his chest.
" I'm Eritrea." She answered, her voice calm and soft.
Little White's brow furrowed. " Who the hell is that?" He murmured under his breath, his gaze breaking for a second. By the time his gaze fell on her again, it grew darker, why is she here? Where is Olivia?
He realized his hand was on hers and jerked away as if burned. Straightening his back, he shoved her a few inches away. The sudden rejection stung. Eritrea swallowed hard, forcing her expression into indifference.
"I don't know you." His voice dropped, sharp and cold. "Where is Olivia?" His gaze turned lethal. "Tell me you didn't hurt her."

The last question struck a chord in Eritrea's. Eritrea hesitated, her throat tightening. She wanted to tell him everything, to let the truth spill out—but she couldn't. Not now. Not when the weight of her actions pressed so heavily on her chest. Would he hate her if he knew? If he learned what she had done?
" I... I live in Olivia's consciousness, I took over her body when I realised that she was in danger, so I had to save her... and you." Her eyes lingered on his face. Her gaze tells tales of old encounters with him.
Little White suddenly grabbed her hand, causing a yelp from her. " Are you lying to me? Why isn't she here now? It's safe, so can you bring her back now." The last part felt more like a plea.
Eritrea jerked her hand from his. She could not bring herself to let him know that there was a problem, knowing him from his past life, she could not exactly tell if he had the same temperament. If he did, she is as good as dead if he hears of her deed.
" There is nothing wrong. I had to bring you to safety first, so you can guard her body when she takes over. So no more questions, if you want her back soon." She coldly dismissed him, her eyes became more fierce and controlled.
Little White gaze softened, his heart raced at the thought that he was going to see her soon. He rose to his feet, ignoring the sharp pain that shot up his body. " I will keep watch. You can bring her back now." He said before turning his back at her, paying attention to his surroundings. He inhaled deeply, the woods brought sweet memories of his kiss, a smile curled on his lips.
Eritrea felt a bitter sense of pain in her heart. She hadn't meant much to him before, of course it would also be the same now. A sad smile tugged on her lips, as she cast a last glance at his broad shoulders.
She sat down, resting her back on a tree, her eyes hesitatingly closing, she wanted to see more of him, a drop of tears rolled down her cheeks.
" Thank you for saving me and Olivia." His voice echoed in her head. A smile curved on her lips before everything distorted from her senses.
"Eritrea." Little White called, but she didn't stir. He sighed, kneeling beside her to drape his jacket over her. His gaze lingered on her face before he stood and resumed his watch.
Meanwhile in Olivia's sea of consciousness, Eritrea's eyes fluttered open, a gasp escaped from her lips. She took hesitant steps forward. This was nothing like it used to be.
Her sea of consciousness that has been bright and beautiful has turned into a nightmare. The sky was pitch black, thunder growling as lightning tore through it occasionally. Black smoke slithered through the air, thick and suffocating. The water-like floor twisted beneath her feet, reflecting the nightmare above.
There was no source of light, even her golden core had turned completely black, oozing with black smoke.
"Olivia!" Eritrea called out, as she looked around searching for her, she didn't know where to go, she was confused. Her head pulsed with grief and pain.
" You had caused all of this, why feel sad?. You shouldn't be sad, she is in a happy place now, where she doesn't want to leave." A whisper slithered through the air, like a thousand voices speaking in unison. "She doesn't want to leave..." The smoke twisted unnaturally, forming shadows with gaping mouths and hollow eyes.
