Chapter 987: Assessment

With his finances restored, Vale didn’t waste a second.

He packed up his stall and left the Trade Hub quickly, heading back into the quieter parts of the Resource Floor.

Once again, he visited the shop selling empty crystals...

The elderly shopkeeper raised his head as Vale approached. "Back so soon, lad?"

Vale didn’t bother with small talk. "I want fifty crates of Mid-Grade Empty Divine Crystals."

The old man blinked in surprise, then quickly did the math. "Five thousand Arcane Crystals. No discounts for a bulk like this, I’m afraid."

"That’s fine," Vale replied as he transferred the payment. The old man was so used to hagglers that he actually hesitated for a moment, stunned by the lack of resistance.

"I—Right. Very well," the shopkeeper coughed awkwardly before adding, "Here. Two defective High-Grade Divine Crystals as a bonus. They’re fractured, but someone with your aura might know what to do with them."

Vale accepted the gift with a subtle nod of gratitude, storing all fifty crates into his Storage Ring.

Next, he made his way to the Talisman Materials Depot, a wide section of the floor specializing in various spiritual parchments, inscription inks, beast blood for seal activation, and divine thread for protective talismans.

Of course, it wasn’t for him but for Constance.

Soon, he bought 1,000 sheets of Arcane Silk Paper, 500 bottles of Celestial Beast Blood Ink, 200 strands of Gold-Thread Divine Fiber, and 100 blank Elemental Seal Stones.

He then moved on to another Apothecary Shop, dedicated to Pill and Potion Brewing, where he procured, 300 sets of High-Purity Cauldron Fuel Stones, 100 vials of Refined Moonwater, 50 jars of Aetherroot Paste, and 100 sachets of Time-Freeze Powder...

Finally, he visited the Golem Crafter’s Hall, a fortified vendor managed by half-mechanical staff, where he purchased 200 Lesser Golem Cores, 200 Mana Core Stabilizers, 200 Arcsteel Plates, and 200 Golem Eyes.

By the time he finished, Vale had spent nearly 25,000 Arcane Crystals, but the return on investment would be monumental.

With these materials, he could now empower his forces, create defensive and offensive mechanisms, and even help the students in his Academy as they would be able to study some otherworldly items.

With all purchases complete, Vale finally departed the Central Market Tower and made his way back to the Still Flame Inn, the quiet, upscale lodging he had checked into upon arriving in the city.

The staff gave him a polite nod as he passed through the lobby and headed straight to his room, one that was shielded by an anti-surveillance formation for privacy.

Once inside, he activated the room’s isolation array and finally breathed out.

He waved his hand, and crates upon crates materialized in his room, neatly stacking themselves in rows.

Crates of Empty Divine Crystals appeared and a soft glow radiated from many of them, filling the room with light.

Then, he sat cross-legged at the center of it all.

"Now... Let’s see my status," he whispered.

A translucent panel appeared before him...

In the meantime, within a huge building in Hymn City, Sabrina entered the central chamber of the Luminis Hold.

At this point, her cloak trailed faint light as she passed through layers of Formation Arts protecting the building.

The Command Center of the organization was situated atop an Arcane Tower...

There were dozens of Trap Formations and Killing Formations that must be passed through in order to enter this place. After all, this area manages intelligence reports, border fluctuations, and divine anomaly detections.

In a certain room, behind an arched desk, an aged figure sat silently in contemplation.

His robes were pure white, and there was a monocle over one eye. This elderly man seemed ordinary at first, but his eyes had a mark of one who had long surpassed the boundaries of ordinary mortals.

This was Grand Elder Caelin, the strategist and spiritual pillar of the Luminis Hold.

As Sabrina approached, the Grand Elder paused as he acknowledged her presence.

"You’ve returned," Caelin said softly, not looking up from the folded report in his hand.

His voice was calm, but he was also filled with expectation.

"Hymn City’s Central Tower was more active than usual these past few days. I take it you saw the cause yourself?"

Sabrina stopped before him and bowed slightly. "I did, Grand Elder."

She was referring to the Demonic Creatures and the Demon Saints who had attempted another futile attack.

Caelin set the paper down, finally raising his eyes.

"What about the shadow-aligned man who purchased Spirit Beasts... and later sold Greater Demon Saint horns?"

Sabrina nodded.

"He’s strong," she said plainly. "But I don’t think he’s a problem. I don’t believe he bears any ill will toward our Hold—or toward the divine sectors of the city in general."

Caelin studied her for a moment...

"I see. That is your assessment, then?"

"Yes," Sabrina answered firmly. "He traveled with Corvin, avoided causing scenes, and even turned down barter offers from questionable parties. He didn’t seek power or prestige while in the Tower—just materials. Tools, not weapons. And he gave the Shadow Sect no trouble even when approached."

Caelin’s fingers tapped against the table. "And yet... he has no recorded affiliation in any of our archives. None of the sects in this region has claimed him. His origin is obscured even to our Seers."

Sabrina remained silent. She had sensed it too—Vale’s power, though restrained, was foreign. Too structured to be chaotic, too profound to be regional.

After a long pause, Caelin finally nodded. "Very well. I trust your read on him. For now... he is not to be antagonized."

Sabrina allowed herself a breath of relief.
