As the airship plunged into a violent dive, Jinx's eyes widened in a mix of terror and exhilaration. The moment Bael veered the ship, she felt it again—an overwhelming sensation, sharp and suffocating, coursing through her veins.
She looked at Pow-Pow Eta. The weapon—her weapon—seemed to hum with life, vibrating in her hands.
"No... no, no, no..." she muttered under her breath, her mind scrambling to make sense of what was happening. The blood. The blood from Singed's experiments—it was back, and it was flooding her senses, dragging her deeper into the madness she thought she'd escaped.
Then, the madness took hold.
Pow-Pow Eta roared to life in her hands, and without warning, Jinx unleashed a barrage of gunfire, her fingers pulling the trigger faster than she could process.
"JINX, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" Bael shouted, his voice laced with panic and disbelief as the chaos unfolded. He couldn't comprehend what was happening, couldn't understand why she was suddenly so out of control.
Jinx's laughter echoed through the ship, wild and unhinged. "I'm not doing anything!" she shrieked, her voice trembling with both fear and excitement. "I'm just... just... having fun!"
Vi ducked for cover, narrowly avoiding the sprays of bullets as they ricocheted off the ship's interior.
Bael, standing frozen in shock for just a moment, snapped into action. "Jinx! SNAP OUT OF IT!" he yelled, trying to get through to her, but she wasn't listening. Her eyes were wild, completely lost in the storm of violence and blood that raged in her mind.
"NO! I can't—" she started to say, but it was too late. Pow-Pow Eta was still firing, and the ship was taking damage, its systems flickering as the walls were riddled with holes.
Bael gritted his teeth, stepping forward, his mechanical arm extended toward her, trying to get close enough to disarm her. "Jinx, enough! You're losing it!"
Jinx's eyes met his—wild, manic, but for just a fleeting moment, there was recognition. "I can't stop it, Bael... I can't stop it..." she whispered, her voice breaking as the chaos continued.
She could hear Singed from a far distance,
"Kill him."
Jinx fought with all her might to stop. Bael saw Jinx aiming at him with Eta and he quickly took cover.
Vi punched her and told her to get a hang of herself. Jinx shot at the control panel, which made the airship go rabid.
...
Mel Medarda stood frozen for a moment, eyes locked on the airship barreling toward the council building. The sight of it sent a cold shiver down her spine, but her instincts kicked in immediately. She knew there was no time to waste. The airship wasn't just falling—it was crashing directly into their place.
"Damn," she muttered under her breath, her composure slipping for only a second. "We need to move. Now."
"Get everyone to cover!" she shouted as she ran, her voice cutting through the chaos. "Make sure the civilians are safe. I want the entire building sealed off—NOW!"
Salo struggled to keep up with her pace, glancing at her with concern, but Mel's determination pushed her forward. "Councelor, we can't just—" he began, but she cut him off.
"We don't have a choice. We're not going to survive if we stay here!"
The thundering sound of the crashing airship grew louder, vibrating the ground beneath their feet. The heat from its descent started to make the air feel thick, heavy with impending doom. Mel's heart raced, but she didn't stop.
They reached the shelter just as the ship neared the building. Mel grabbed Salo's arm, pulling him inside the reinforced doors. She turned to look over her shoulder, eyes wide with a mix of fear and rage. "We've come too far to let them destroy it all," she growled through gritted teeth.
Inside the shelter, was the safe haven, a place they didn't use for the past few decades, but now the condition was critical. Some Councelors were already there waiting for orders such as Heimerdinger.
"They could break in at any moment now..." Mel announced.
As the sound of the airship's descent reached a deafening roar, Mel's grip tightened around the nearest object—anything she could hold onto.
The crash was deafening, a sudden explosion of noise and destruction that rattled the airship's interior.
Bael pushed himself up from the wreckage, shaking off the disorientation. His senses were on high alert. He could hear the distant clamor of enforcers rapidly approaching, their boots pounding the metal floors outside. His heart pounded in his chest, and his focus shifted to Jinx and Vi.
Jinx was on the floor, unmoving for a moment. Bael's eyes narrowed. He quickly rushed to her side and knelt down. Gently, he shook her shoulder, his voice urgent.
"Jinx! Jinx, wake up!"
She groaned, her body twitching as if fighting against the fog in her mind. Slowly, her purple eyes flickered open, and for the first time in what felt like forever, her gaze was clear. Her chaotic energy seemed to settle for the moment.
Jinx blinked, her voice soft and disoriented. "W-what happened? Where are we?"
Bael breathed a sigh of relief but didn't waste time answering. "Enforcers are coming. We need to move."
He helped her to her feet, but before she could fully steady herself, Vi stirred beside them. She shot up instantly, her expression sharp, her instincts kicking in. "We've got company. Let's go!" she said, scanning the corridor.
Without wasting another second, Bael, Jinx, and Vi took off, running through the dimly lit, smoke-filled corridors of the wrecked airship. Every step was a race against time, the sound of enforcers echoing louder with each passing second.
Bael led the charge, his senses alert to every footstep, every sound around them. Jinx and Vi followed closely, each of them aware of the urgency in the air. As they rounded a corner, they could hear the faint shouts of the enforcers, their voices growing closer. Bael's grip tightened on his weapons. They needed a plan. Fast.
"We're gonna fight our way out," Bael muttered, his tone colder than usual. "Stick close, don't let them get a shot off."
Jinx's lips curled into a wicked grin, a dangerous glint in her eyes as she reloaded Pow-Pow Eta. "I love it when you talk like that," she purred, her voice dripping with excitement.
Vi nodded grimly, her jaw set in determination. "Let's show them what happens when they mess with us."
They kept running, and as the enforcers closed in, it was clear: this was far from over. The battle for control had only just begun.
