Chapter 89: The Banquet (Part 3)

Upon hearing her say this, the King and Head Chancellor let out relieved sighs.

The political situation within Sarvos was very delicate at the moment. With the Revolutionary Army gaining prominence, more and more members of the citizenry were beginning to look up to them favorably.

If the problem wasn’t properly handled, it could lead to mutiny.

Fortunately, the citizens had access to very limited information, so the Royal Family had been spreading propaganda to deceive the masses, while also cracking down on any sympathizers of supporters of the Revolution. By nipping the problems in the bud before escalating, they could maintain a firm grip on their position.

Even regarding the First Princess defecting, they showed their quick thinking.

’Despite the situation being unexpected, they quickly spread the information that the First Princess was captured by the Revolutionary Army. That way, even if the First Princess stepped out to reveal the truth, they could easily blame it on the Revolutionary Army’s brainwashing, further reducing the latter’s reputation.’ Kamara respected their planning, but she also knew it wasn’t sustainable.

Naturally, she had already heard the First Princess was captured, but the reason she asked the King about the First Princess earlier was to probe at the real situation, clearly showing that she wasn’t buying the story they told the public.

Theo and the others naturally weren’t aware of the situation, since they hadn’t been deeply investigating, but she had constantly been observing everything, learning plenty.

’Right now, the important thing is quietly eliminating the princess while making the Revolutionary Army the scapegoat. This will give the Royal Family more support from the people, so after eradicating the Revolutionary Army, there will be less sympathizers from the masses...’ Kamara nodded to herself. ’Even for the sympathizers that remain, they won’t be able to openly express their views since the Revolutionary Army will be painted as the villains.’

As for which side was actually right or wrong, Kamara couldn’t care less.

’All that matters is the mission.’

BOOOM!!

At that moment, a loud noise echoed out, originating from the banquet hall.

The ground shook slightly, and despite being in an isolated room, Kamara and the two others present felt the vibrations. It was shocking, and Kamara instantly went on full alert, a deep frown quickly forming on her face.

’What happened? The noise is coming from my team’s position...’ She gritted her teeth as she had this thought, trying her hardest to suppress the murderous intent that oozed from her pitch-black eyes.

’Did Theo do something again?!’

If he was the one responsible for this commotion, then—

"Guards! Someone get in here!" King Nimrod and Head Chancellor Laus spoke simultaneously, worry etched on their faces. As soon as those words left their lips, the main door leading to the room opened up and two men in uniform and armor stepped into the room, bowing their heads with complete fealty.

"What the hell was that noise? Tell us what’s happening!"

King Nimrod and Head Chancellor Laus were just as concerned as Kamara—perhaps even more so. The moment they sensed her bloodlust, they quickly went into action to decipher what had happened, worried that she suspected them of some underhanded action.

’Her subordinates are in the banquet hall, after all. She might think we did something to them...’

This was definitely a misunderstanding, but they couldn’t have known.

"A-ah, your majesty!" The two men in uniform bowed before quickly explaining the situation.

"Two of our guests turned out to be assassins who were targeting the first prince. However, right before the situation escalated, one of the Ak’ashi Guild members stepped in and saved his life."

"Oh?" Relief spread through all the eyes of the three seated in the room.

They had utterly misunderstood what happened, which made them worried for a moment. But, with the clarification from the guard, though the implications weren’t too pleasant, there seemed to be less of a burden on either party.

"Who stopped the assassins?" Kamara went on to ask.

"Well... it was the lady in the group. She summoned a giant pink stuffed animal resembling a bear." The guard replied, displaying a hint of fear. "It was over in one hit."

Both men reporting this were clearly astonished, as well as terrified, by what they had witnessed.

The power of Armaments was glorious.

"Did she kill them?"

"W-well... one of them turned to meat paste with a single strike, but she was able to get a hold of one. She knocked him out, so he passed out." The situation became clearer, causing the tension in the room to dissipate.

The King and Head Chancellor felt relieved—not only because of the immediate situation, but also the future of Sarvos. It was clear, just from the report, that Ak’ashi Guild had sent capable individuals for this assignment.

Of course, this was worrisome in a way, but it remained good news.

’At least, we can be assured that the Revolutionary Army situation will be handled if we involve them in the War.’ King Nimrod glanced at the Head Chancellor, who nodded in silent agreement.

What they needed to deal with at the moment was the Civil War.

Everything else could wait.

"Ensure the assassin is properly restrained and detain him in the interrogation center. I want to know everything he knows before this night is over!" Nimrod barked orders, and the guards instantly responded with nods and loud voices of acknowledgment.

"You are dismissed."

They scurried out of the room, loudly shutting the door behind them.

Once again, just the three remained in the room, and one by one they sat down. The only one who remained standing was Kamara, and she was still staring at the door, a complex expression playing on her face.

She was clearly in deep thought, deciphering a lot of things.

"I’m so sorry for this, honestly, Miss Kamara. This is definitely the work of the Revolutionary Army. Those cowardly Revolutionary Kings..." The Head Chancellor growled in anger.

’Again with the Revolutionary Army...’ Kamara squinted her eyes and considered the matter very deeply. ’They’re really trying to make them the scapegoats in this affair, but perhaps it’s not so simple.’

Based on the reaction that the King and Head Chancellor had after hearing about the assassins, it was clear to Kamara that this wasn’t the first time such a thing had happened. The assassination attempt must have occurred at least twice, to the point where neither of them were too surprised, but instead relieved.

This made her rather curious about the internal situation of the Sarvos Royal family.

’Is there some conflict in succession? Despite putting up a united front, it’s possible that the Royal Family isn’t as unified as they want others to believe...’ Kamara was tempted to explore the matter further, but she quickly shoved it aside.

’None of it is of consequence to the mission anyway, so it’s best I remain in my bounds.’

As soon as she had this thought, Kamara turned to the King and Head Chancellor, flashing her most brilliant smile of the day as she chuckled slightly. "Yeah, those pesky Revolutionary Kings... they probably learned that we arrived and took action very quickly."

"E-exactly! That could be it..."

"I can’t wait for this war to be over. We are glad to have your people by our side..."

The three laughed as Kamara returned to her seat, and they began to enjoy the meal that had been prepared for them in sheer silence.
