Ascension of The Unholy Immortal-Chapter 277: Core Region
"So, your father is very pitiful?" Liang shook his head mockingly.
Dong Rui smiled shamelessly, a flicker of amusement in her eyes, and said nothing.
Shaking his head, Liang turned to leave. The banquet was already ending, and its once lively atmosphere now felt heavy and laden with unsaid words.

Two days later, a new invitation arrived for Liang. This one came from someone he had long been anticipating—Dong Tian Di, the current head of the Dong Clan.
As the sun began to set the next day, a guest arrived at Liang’s residence. It was none other than Dong Rui.
Upon seeing Liang’s calm demeanor, Dong Rui couldn’t help but me amused "My father has asked me to bring you to meet him. I’m sure you were already notified."
Liang nodded, his expression remaining stoic. "Yes."
Dong Rui’s eyes flickered thoughtfully, searching his face for any hint of emotion or uncertainty. "Since you’re ready, let’s go."
Liang nodded again and followed her without a word.
The journey did not take long, yet the time seemed to stretch indefinitely. Soon, they arrived at an enormous gate, larger and grander than any Liang had ever seen. The gate’s intricate design spoke of both ancient tradition and formidable power.
Despite its majesty, there were no guards in sight. The gate stood solitary, imposing and mysterious.
Dong Rui approached the gate with an air of confidence. She took out her Identity Cube and extended her hand towards the gate. Almost instantly, a mechanical voice resonated through the still air.
"Dong Rui—position: Saintess. Allowed to pass."
Liang’s eyes flickered thoughtfully. Was this a formation spirit?
Passing through the gate, Dong Rui glanced back at Liang with a smug expression. "Welcome to the Core Region."
Inside, the scenery changed drastically. The core region was a stunning mix of nature and advanced architecture.
Towering trees with leaves that shimmered like gemstones stood next to sleek, modern-looking structures. Streams of crystal-clear water filled with dense spiritual energy flowed alongside pathways that seemed to be made of polished jade. The air was filled pure spiritual energy none that Liang has ever felt before.
Liang couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe, though he kept his expression neutral.
Dong Rui’s eyes scrutinized him, seemingly probing for any hint of his reaction. "This place is the heart of the Dong Clan, reserved exclusively for core members. Even I couldn’t enter before becoming a saintess," she said softly, her tone almost reverential. "You are fortunate to be allowed in."
Liang merely responded with a smile, his mind still lost in contemplation over the formation spirit he had just encountered.

Before long, they arrived in front of a magnificent palace. The grandeur of its towering spires and ornately carved walls left Liang awestruck. He couldn’t help but inwardly be surprised at the sight of two Runic Mastery Experts standing vigil at the gates, their presence is testament to the palace’s importance.
As Dong Rui approached, the guards immediately bowed in respect. Liang was taken aback by the deference they showed her, but quickly followed her through the impressive gates.
Navigating through the labyrinthine corridors, they soon found themselves in a grandiose palace hall. It was a vast chamber with high ceilings adorned with intricate frescoes and crystal chandeliers that bathed the room in a soft, ethereal glow. At the center, standing alone with his back to the door, was a man.
Sensing their presence, the man turned around, revealing a composed expression and a faint smile. There was no mistaking it; this was Dong Tian Di, the current head of the Dong Clan.
Liang promptly cupped his hands in respect. "Greetings, Clan Head."
Dong Tian Di’s laughter filled the hall, warm and genuine. "Young friend Liang, there’s no need for such formality." He gestured toward a plush cushion and an intricately carved sofa situated to the side of the hall.
Liang nodded and gracefully took a seat, with Dong Rui settling beside him, her eyes twinkling.
Moments later, a lady dressed in an elegant white palace robe entered, carrying a tray laden with a teapot and delicate porcelain cups. She served the tea with practiced grace, the aroma of the brew immediately filling the air.
"Young Friend Liang, please try this tea," Dong Tian Di urged with a smile, sipping from his own cup.
Liang nodded in acknowledgment and took a sip. The moment the tea touched his lips, his eyes widened in astonishment. Such pure spiritual energy in a drink!
"What do you think, Brother Liang?" Dong Rui asked, her gaze knowing and expectant.
"Impressive!" Liang exclaimed. "This is without a doubt the finest tea I’ve tasted."
Satisfied with Liang’s reaction, Dong Tian Di’s expression turned serious. "Young Friend Liang, I am straightforward by nature. I won’t apologize nor offer excuses. Tell me directly, what is your request?"
Inwardly, Liang couldn’t help but scoff. Straightforward? As the head of the Dong Clan, Dong Tian Di had to be a very cunning and calculating person. He was anything but straightforward.
"Since Senior is known for his straightforwardness, I won’t beat around the bush. I want a slot for myself to enter the Primordial Rune Secret Realm," Liang declared boldly.
Dong Rui almost spat out her tea in shock upon hearing Liang’s audacious request. Surprise flickered through Dong Tian Di’s eyes, though he remained composed.
"Young friend Liang, it’s not that I wish to refuse..." Dong Tian Di’s eyes momentarily clouded with difficulty. "But you must understand, this matter is beyond my authority as the clan head."
"Brother Liang, the Primordial Rune Secret Realm is reserved exclusively for Dong Clan members. No outsider has ever been granted entry," Dong Rui interjected decisively, her tone a mix of disbelief and astonishment. She hadn’t anticipated Liang’s boldness and would have warned him had she known his intentions.
Liang’s eyes narrowed. "To be honest, Senior Tian Di, there aren’t many things for which I would need the Dong Clan." He let out a resigned sigh. "If Senior is unwilling to give me a chance, just consider that this Liang has done the Dong Clan a significant favor."
