Ascension Online: I Grow Stronger By Streaming-Chapter 32: Town Raid
He was currently two items out of the total five, so he moved on to what was next, and immediately, his eyes widened, filled with shock.
Kai was looking at his first SSS ranked spell, and he seemed to have gained it after he reached five thousand views in the stream.
He couldn’t believe it at all, his mouth hung wide open, eyes almost falling from his head.
[Guardian Summon, SSS ranked spell]
The name alone sent shivers down his spine, it seemed extremely terrifying.
[Guardian Summon: Call forth great heroes, warriors and powerful beings to your world to fight beside you. Cost, 1000 Mana points, cool down 1 month]
[Note: Summoned guardians lose their ancient powers and will start from level 1, must complete certain tasks to level up. Level 1 guardians come with their unique classes]
He read everything at a pace that looked like he was being chased, his eyes burning with eagerness to know the details of this spell. He had never seen anything like it before.
"Whoa, whoa, this is crazy, I get summons? This early in the game? Am I even allowed that?" Kai asked. The smile on his lips couldn’t be hidden, he looked at the details with even more eagerness.
"I have to try this out." He muttered, looking around, he couldn’t do it here in the room, he didn’t know what would happen if he tried to summon anything here, so he had to be cautious.
He quickly moved onto the fourth reward, and shockingly it wasn’t skills or anything that could make him stronger, the system had simply rewarded him with actual in-game coin.
Kai stared at the number with complete shock, the reward for having more than three thousand views for over an hour.
[100,000 gold]
Kai looked at it with utter disbelief, he just went from broke to rich in an instant. Well, in-game rich. His mind began thinking of all the things that he could buy and how much better his life in-game could become.
The thoughts made him giddy, he already started budgeting in his mind, while he checked what his final reward was.
[Ancient Map, unlocks at level 20]
"A map?" He muttered, there was no information about the map, nothing that could help him understand what it was, it was locked and it said until level twenty.
"Why give it to me now if I can’t even access it?" He wondered. Did the streamer system not expect him to reach the milestone before level twenty? Kai wondered, that would make sense, but it would also mean that the system is pre set and everything had already been arranged.
He wasn’t sure of how true that would be, and he didn’t have any proof about it, so he let it be for now. He has to get moving, the day would soon come to an end, which meant morning in the real world, he would need to wake and take care of Aoi.
There was still a lot he had to check, like the game’s actual rewards and the red crystals that he had gathered, but he would do that later, for now he wanted to find Mira. He took off his armor and placed it away.
He left the room, locking the door behind him and leaving the inn quickly. Getting onto the street, he saw a ton of players walking around and going about their day.
Most players here would be lower than level ten, because most of the time, those that get to level ten and awaken their classes would normally leave the starter town and seek out better places, or they would go deeper into the forest for hunts and what not, all in an effort to get strong enough to survive.
The true reality of Ascension Online was that it was a dark world, a very dark world, where surviving as a player was immensely difficult. But progression was very pleasing, and that was why people still stuck to the game, it gave proper rewards for the endless struggles.
But starter towns were kept safe, like a tutorial for players, there were hardly any difficult happenings, or massive conflict.
It allowed the players to grow calmly and get good before they are thrust into the darkness of the real game world.
Well, that was how it was meant to be normally.
RAWRRRRRRRR
Suddenly a terrifying roar tore through the air and shook everything. Kai immediately looked over to see what was happening.
Something was coming, the birds in the forest all flew away, the ground trembled, and a heavy presence was approaching.
Then it came into view, as tens of massive bull-like monsters rode out of the forest, their skin as black as night, eyes as red as blood, and horns that were extremely long and curled.
Standing over two feet tall, with packed body muscles that looked as if they would rip the skin.
But these bulls were not the main issue, it was the riders, as on every bull sat a person, clad in black armor. They were players, but not normal players, as above their heads was a red star.
When Kai saw this, he knew trouble had found this town. Those people were not normal players.
"Red players." Kai muttered.
Red players were players that killed other players constantly, and they gain a red star above their status. It signified who they were and warned of their danger, they were normally not allowed in major towns and gatherings due to their danger.
It was normally the mercenaries who had such status, or players that loved killing for no reason.
"This is bad." Kai muttered, "I have to find Mira."
He was worried for her safety, because he already knew that the town was getting attacked.
But before he could even start looking, one of the players from the very outskirts of town pulled out a staff and cast a spell, and a huge formation of fireballs fell from the sky.
The raid had begun.
Kai looked up and saw the fireballs. He still needed to find Mira, but he also needed to start streaming, because this was surely something people would want to watch.
