Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 119 - : The Auction Begins
"Holy crap, it’s Horreo!"
"This is a high-ranking NPC, who controls most of the Davi City army."
"No wonder Blackshade knows someone like that. Looks like he has connections in the right places."
"This is obviously a case of government-business collusion!"
"I’m protesting this!"
"I can’t believe Blackshade, that big guy with the bushy eyebrows, is pulling strings behind the scenes. Damn, it’s so disappointing—no, actually, it’s just envy!"
"Did Horreo just call Blackshade ’warrior’? Is there some hidden story here?"
"What are you talking about? You have no idea."
"Well, Horreo seems pretty polite. It doesn’t look like he’s here to shut down Blackshade’s shop."
"Yeah, it’s starting to look like he’s here to congratulate him."
Players around them chattered, guessing what Horreo’s visit was all about.
Before Tristan had a chance to speak, Horreo walked right up to the players and loudly declared, "Today is the grand opening of Blackshade’s shop. On behalf of the city lord, I’ve come to offer my congratulations."
The players gasped.
Blackshade knew the city lord? That was huge!
After a few days of gameplay, players had learned that the attitudes of NPCs were crucial. Whether or not they could get a quest often depended on the NPC’s mood. Many players tried everything to get NPCs to like them, but it was a hard task, let alone forming connections with high-level NPCs.
Seeing Horreo, a top-tier NPC, come here to celebrate Blackshade’s success left many players both shocked and envious. If they had such connections, they could walk through Davi City like they owned it.
Tristan gave Drake a quick look and then turned to Horreo, saying, "Horreo, this is a friend of mine who wishes to develop in Davi City. I hope you can give him your support in the future."
Drake, ever the professional, cupped his hands in respect. "It’s a pleasure to meet you, Horreo."
Horreo smiled warmly. "Since he’s a friend of Blackshade, he’s a friend of mine too. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to come to me."
He handed Drake a token.
Even though Drake was the leader of a major guild, he couldn’t help but feel a little giddy. With this token, his chances of success in Davi City had just multiplied.
In that moment, Drake knew that getting on Blackshade’s good side had been the best decision he had made.
Nearby, DarkSaber watched with envy. But he knew even if he asked Blackshade for an introduction, it wouldn’t happen. All he could do was fume quietly.
He resolved to win Horreo’s favor through his own effort and hopefully get one of those valuable tokens.
Those tokens were worth a lot, after all.
Tristan and Horreo exchanged a few more pleasantries before guiding him into the shop. Tristan then returned to the outside and addressed the crowd.
"Everyone, we’ll be starting the auction soon. For those wanting to enter, please come here to verify your funds."
The auction would test not only the cash reserves of each guild but also the in-game gold players had.
However, Tristan wasn’t planning to run off with the money. After verification, all the gold would be returned.
The guild leaders had no objections. They didn’t know Blackshade well, but his reputation preceded him. He wouldn’t risk his name for a quick scam. Besides, with Blackshade’s strength, making money was hardly a challenge.
There were rumors that some guilds had even offered millions in annual salaries to recruit Blackshade. Unfortunately, all had failed.
As the verification continued, ShieldBreaker arrived at the scene, and the guild leaders were visibly excited.
The big moment had finally arrived.
ShieldBreaker, who was clearly pumped, was greeted by Tristan.
"Go ahead and find a spot inside," Tristan instructed.
ShieldBreaker nodded and entered the shop.
Around this time, NightStalker and GemmaS arrived as well, greeting Tristan. These two were potential recruits for Tristan’s guild, and he had invited them to the auction to both enjoy the event and see if they could snag some useful professional items.
While Tristan did want to sell some of the gear he had no use for, he was more interested in bartering to get something useful for himself—perhaps rare items or gear that suited his class better.
But luck was a big factor. Right now, the game was still young, with limited areas explored and fewer good items dropping.
Tristan couldn’t help but think, "It all comes down to relying on myself."
As more players finished verifying their funds, they entered the shop. Some had worried about being cramped, but upon entering, they were surprised to find that there was plenty of room. Even with dozens of players inside, there were still plenty of gaps.
That only made them more envious. This wasn’t just any store—this was Davi City’s precious Provence Street, and having a shop here was worth a fortune. How in the world had Blackshade gotten it?

"Damn it, why does Blackshade always get all the good stuff?" DarkSaber thought as he entered the shop.
He then walked over to Horreo and respectfully said, "Horreo, I have a deep connection with Blackshade."
"Oh?" Horreo raised an eyebrow, intrigued. If it had something to do with Blackshade, it could be worth hearing out.
Drake, unable to hold back, immediately interjected, "A deep connection? More like a rivalry. You’ve caused Blackshade quite a bit of trouble."
At that, Horreo’s expression turned cold, and he snorted, turning away from DarkSaber without saying another word.
"Are you mute or something?" DarkSaber grumbled, embarrassed and angry.
Drake laughed. "Not happy? Come at me then."
If this were anywhere else, DarkSaber would’ve tried to go at it with Drake, but given they were in the main city with Horreo around, he held back his anger.
With the crowd settled, Tristan stepped to the center of the hall, smiling warmly.
The guild leaders applauded.
After some brief pleasantries, Tristan got straight to the point.
"You all came here for the Guild Token. It’s in ShieldBreaker’s hands. The bidding starts now!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a player with the username "Storm77" shouted, "Celestial Club bids 50 million!"
That was a jaw-dropping amount, enough to dominate the server. But in ExoGenesis, it was just the opening bid for the Guild Token.
No sooner had Storm77 spoken, than two more guilds immediately raised the bid by 5 million, bringing it to 60 million.
It was a hefty sum, but everyone knew that this wasn’t the final price. The two biggest contenders, IFA and Shadow Legion, hadn’t even placed their bids yet.
DarkSaber glanced at Drake. "Drake, why don’t you bid? If you raise the price high enough, I’ll let you have the Guild Token."
Drake smiled. "You’re too kind. If that’s the case, then I won’t hold back."
His expression grew serious, and with a determined voice, he declared, "IFA bids 150 million!"
