Awakened: SSS Ranked Soul king-Chapter 136: Dreadful battle-2
"Guards up, kill the guardsmen!" Logan commanded. The two claymores in his hand shone with a bright luster as he clashed against a giant reptilian creature with long, twisted hands.
Seven mythic highlords—edging on the line between mythic and wayfarer—were what they had to face. Since coming here, they had never encountered anything this powerful. Yet, they were stronger than they had ever been.
"Viper, now!" one of the Blacksteels shouted at the top of his lungs as he flung Viper toward one of the mythic highlords.
When they first passed through that portal, there had been only one individual capped at red (level 10); now they had 25. If such an outrageous leap in power had ever been recorded in Blacksteel Shelter history, it would have been unprecedented. And even those guys fell short.
–Boom!!!
What they had done—and what they were doing—would surely place their names in the annals of history. Of course, they would have to survive first.
"Just hold a bit longer; the fog will soon press far enough," one of the level 9 Tanks from the Ironback family echoed, his shield slamming into a reptile and sending it headfirst into the ground.
The fog, along with those within it, was currently piercing through the horde rushing down from the caves above. It was slowly spreading out and consuming the dead—emphasis on slowly.
But just like the horde outside, it was only a matter of time before the fog grew stronger—at least enough to hold back the beasts and end this once and for all. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"This is good," at the epicenter of it all, Guilliman could be seen observing the happenings on the battlefield. The slayer army was holding the fight better than he could have ever imagined. These men and women had been truly tempered by the harrowing challenges of this gate.
"Hmm, I can focus." Sighing in relief, Guilliman turned to the front, where a giant lizard creature—several times the size of the average reptile—could be seen looking down on him with a cold glare.
This creature was called a Trihorn Drake. Based on its features, it was either a direct descendant of the Tetrahorned Drake—the great abomination from 200 years ago—or it had come from somewhere else. Guilliman didn't know, but it was the source of all their problems.
"Are you ready?" Guilliman asked, looking to his side. In front of him, a human figure had materialized; he wore a faded coat, armored pants, and a strange raven helmet.
Thane.
"Hm!!" The figure nodded, looking intently at the Trihorn Drake in front of him. Guilliman couldn't tell exactly what was driving the hatred in Thane's eyes—maybe it was the fact that this creature was the antithesis of everything that had taken his life, or perhaps the Raven Lord's soul was raging within him at the sight of the beast.
After all, the Tetrahorned Drake had delivered the finishing blow to his human body. He hated this creature to his very core.
"Okay, let's do it." Wielding a steel spear in his hand, Guilliman nodded to Thane. In the next second, Thane's figure disappeared as he blasted into the air, and with the swing of his blade, he crashed into the Trihorn Drake.
–Boom!!
The impact sent a massive shockwave through the air, briefly disorienting everyone around. It didn't last long, of course… this was a battlefield.
Woosh.
As the drake took the full brunt of that attack, it was pushed back slightly. Thane was strong—though not as powerful as the Raven Lord in his peak form—he could at least go toe-to-toe with a wayfarer beast.
–Roar!!!
The beast, unable to withstand the beating, let out a sonic roar that briefly disoriented Thane before it swiped its tail at him. Fortunately, Guilliman was around and quickly caught Thane, setting him on the ground.
"Let's do this together, shall we?" Guilliman smirked, standing over Thane. He also hated this creature for some reason and wanted to kill it body and soul.
"Hm!!" Thane stood up and brandished his long sword-cleaver at the Trihorned Drake. At the same time, Guilliman's beast summons began appearing next to him and all around the Trihorn Drake. All out—the death of this creature had to be quick and clean. Good thing this was his specialty.
Woosh.
Woosh.
Woosh.
The waning beast apparitions moved first, with Goliath at the forefront. They quickly collided with the drake one after the other in rapid succession, immobilizing it. Meanwhile, Guilliman and Thane attacked from above and below, respectively.
–Canggg.
Guilliman twisted his body mid-air as he used his spear to stab the scalp of the Trihorned Drake, actively dodging its horns. It connected in no time, drawing blood.
[blood detected: Activate eternal bleed?]
As he did so, a system prompt resounded in his head, causing him to smile. He could share the powers of his summons—this didn't apply to humans—so the notification wasn't actually for him, but for Thane.
[Yes]
Guilliman muttered. Thane was a big part of his plan to kill the Trihorn Drake, but he wasn't the only one. The spot he had stabbed soon began to rot, forming decaying moss. However, it was quickly closing—unlike Thane's.
"At least it works," Guilliman muttered, then rushed past the head of the Trihorn Drake and jumped down beside its face.
–Puuu.
In free fall, Guilliman unleashed a barrage of coiling sawblades, cutting into the beast's face and blinding its left eye.
Then he grabbed hold of Goliath's fur and swung forward, stabbing the drake at a joint in its arm. This, of course, made it react as it used its other hand to slap where the spear had been inserted.
At the sight of this, Guilliman abandoned the spear and fell to the ground, allowing the beats to not only push the spear futher in, but also impale its other than.
As Guiliman landed on the ground he summoned a sword. It looked like he was doing extremely random things, but what Guilliman really wanted—and was planning—was quite simple:
Stop the big oaf from moving.
