Awakening: I Became a Legendary Spirit Summoner-Chapter 19 - : Novice Skill Scroll, Spirit Storage
Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Novice Skill Scroll, Spirit Storage
Karl sank into bed after completing his [Novice Trial].
It had been an exhausting day, but unlocking his profession meant that his journey toward becoming stronger had officially begun.
The thought gave him some comfort as his eyes closed and he drifted into sleep.
When he opened his eyes again, the world around him had changed.
Fwish!
Instead of waking in his bedroom, Karl found himself standing in his [Spirit Cemetery], surrounded by its eerie, quiet expanse.
The pale, endless grass stretched before him, and wisps of light danced in the darkened air.
'So, I come here when I sleep too,' he thought, crossing his arms.
'Interesting.'
He didn't mind.
As long as his real body was resting, it meant he essentially had an extra eight hours to train, meditate, or experiment with his abilities.
The cemetery was empty for now, but Karl wasn't bothered.
It was a blank slate, an opportunity.
Eventually, he'd fill it with powerful spirits and memories of his growth.
For the time being, he could focus on preparing for the challenges ahead.
He glanced down at himself, noting the [Frost Wolf Robe] that clung to his body.
It was his only piece of equipment, but it was a start.
Suddenly, a notification appeared.
[You can claim your "Novice Skill Scroll."]
"Oh," Karl said aloud, realizing this space wasn't as restrictive as he thought.
If he could interact with system panels and items here, then the possibilities for using this time efficiently were vast.
"Yeah, I'll use it," he said, confirming the notification.
Fwish!
Ding!
The panel vanished, and a glowing scroll appeared in his hands.
[Novice Skill Scroll]
[Obtained from clearing the "Novice Trial." Can be used to learn a random skill from your profession.]
Gripping the scroll, Karl infused it with mana, causing it to glow brighter and brighter until it exploded into light, enveloping him.
[You have awakened a new passive skill – Spirit Storage.]
"Passive, huh," Karl muttered, intrigued.
Passive skills, always active without requiring manual activation, were often the most useful and versatile.
He quickly opened his skill panel to inspect it further.
[Spirit Storage]
[Proficiency – Increases with level.]
[Effect: Grants the ability to store up to 100 spirits within a separate Spirit Storage space.]
Additional details appeared below to clarify the skill's mechanics:
Spirits stored in the Spirit Storage can be freely transferred between the Spirit Cemetery and the storage.
Spirits in the Spirit Storage can be used for skills, eliminating reliance on spirits in the cemetery alone.
However, spirits in storage cannot be used for [Link] or [Absorb] without first transferring them to the cemetery.
Karl nodded in understanding.
This skill granted him far greater flexibility in managing his spirits, ensuring he could always keep a reserve for combat or emergencies.
He glanced at his [Spirit Cemetery], where four glowing orbs of light hovered silently.
"Let's try it out," he said, focusing on the skill.
With a thought, Karl imagined the spirits being transferred to the storage space.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
[4 Spirit Orbs have been sent to "Spirit Storage."]
[Spirit Storage: 4/100]
[Spirit Cemetery: 0/50]
'It worked!' Karl grinned.
This skill would be invaluable.
With it, he could store spirits for later use, even when his cemetery reached its capacity.
It ensured he wouldn't waste resources and could maintain a steady supply of spirits for his skills.
Satisfied, Karl sat cross-legged on the grass and closed his eyes.
Meditation wouldn't recover mana for him since he wasn't a mage, but it helped clear his mind and relax his body.
Time passed quickly when he meditated, making it an effective way to spend the hours here.
Boom!
Karl's eyes snapped open at the sound of a distant explosion.
Looking around, he noticed his 10 spirits scattered nearby, lounging or floating idly.
But it wasn't the spirits that had caused the noise.
Karl stood carefully, avoiding any sudden movements that might disturb the resting orbs.
His gaze shifted to the far end of the cemetery, where a large door had emerged from the ground.
The door was ornate, with intricate carvings etched into its surface, and above it were the glowing words:
[World of Spirits]
Before Karl could approach, a familiar presence materialized from the ground.
[Reaper]
The enigmatic figure who governed this realm, appeared, its skeletal frame wrapped in shadows as it pointed its scythe toward the door.
"This is how you reach the World of Spirits without having to die," Reaper explained, his voice low and echoing.
"But be warned. I would not recommend entering until you've reached at least level 50."
With that, Reaper faded back into the ground, leaving Karl to contemplate the door in silence.
Karl shook his head.
"I need to focus on leveling up and clearing the first floor before the week is up. I'm not ready for the World of Spirits yet."
The Reaper had previously warned him: dying in the World of Spirits would result in waking up in the Underworld.
That wasn't a risk Karl was willing to take.
He turned away from the door and resumed meditating, letting the hours pass until, eventually, his vision blurred and shifted.
Karl blinked.
He was back in his bed.
The familiar surroundings of his room greeted him, and he stretched before heading to the kitchen for a quick meal.
After eating, Karl stepped outside, his focus shifting to the task ahead.
The portal to the [First Floor] was located in a designated area within the city, and he needed to reach it quickly.
Portals like this were scattered across the Empire, allowing awakened individuals to ascend through the floors of the tower.
The first five floors were designed in such a way, since they were considered the [Tower's Tutorial].
Of course, the [Novice Trial] was used to learn about your abilities, but the first five floors are the actual challenge.
If anybody wanted to set themselves apart from others, clearing this tutorial was obligated.
Higher floors would eventually unlock the [Automatic Entry] function, enabling instant access from anywhere, but for now, Karl had to travel.
The [First Floor] wasn't that difficult.
Clearing it within the six remaining days was doable, but the challenge was to do it repeatedly and increase your experience to join [Starlight Academy].
After that, the [Entrance Examination] would pit aspiring students against one another in a fierce competition.
Karl's pace quickened as he headed toward the square where the portal was located.
Thirty minutes later, he arrived.
The square was packed with people.
Newly awakened individuals and seasoned climbers mingled, shouting and waving banners as they formed parties.
"I'm rank 478 in the Empire, looking for a team!"
"Rank 300! Need a mage and a warrior!"
Karl ignored the commotion, his focus fixed on the massive vortex at the center of the square.
The portal, three meters in diameter, radiated an ominous aura.
As Karl approached, some people stopped to stare.
"Hey, isn't that the guy with the crazy rabbit on his head?"

"Yeah, and he's T38 from the Novice Trial rankings..."
The whispers didn't bother Karl.
He walked straight to the portal, his expression calm.
[Do you want to enter the First Floor alone?]
[Yes] [No]
Karl didn't hesitate.
"Yes."
The vortex pulsed as he stepped inside, and the world shifted around him.
His journey into the [First Floor] had officially begun.
