Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Final Wave, Elite Lizard Commander

[Initiating the Final Wave...]

The moment the announcement appeared, the battlefield was flooded with monsters.

From all directions, they emerged—[Lizard Warriors], [Elite Lizard Knights], [Elite Lizard Archers], and [Elite Lizard Mages].

Each of them stronger than before, more organized, more aggressive.

But in addition to them, a final threat had arrived, as the system had warned.

A new type of monster had entered the fray.

[Elite Lizard Commanders (Boss Monster)]

[Level 19]

[Strength - 180] [Stamina - 150] [Agility - 80] [Mana - 70]

They were larger than even the [Elite Lizard General] from the third wave, towering over the battlefield with an intimidating presence.

Their dark green scales shimmered with an eerie glow, and each of them carried a long, jagged lance.

More unsettling was the dark aura that surrounded both their bodies and weapons, a clear indication that they could wield magic.

Only three had spawned so far.

That meant two more were still lurking somewhere, waiting.

Karl narrowed his eyes as he observed the battlefield.

He needed to take one of them down—no matter what.

If he could obtain another boss-type spirit, his strength would increase significantly.

Right now, his spirits were strong, but their endurance was an issue.

When caught off guard, they could be taken out in a single blow.

The [Orc King], one of his strongest summons, had already lost an arm to a mere swipe from an ordinary trial monster.

That alone was enough proof that while his spirits had high attack power and impressive stats, their constitution was severely lacking.

Karl clenched his fists.

'I need to fix that somehow...'

He knew that his [Spirit Summoner] abilities were still largely sealed, as the Reaper had told him.

There were powers locked away that he couldn't access yet.

Perhaps, hidden among them, was a solution to this problem.

But right now, none of that mattered.

The present battle demanded his full attention.

Karl tightened his grip around his [Spectral Blade], his [Frenzied Rabbit] resting on his shoulder, its crimson eyes scanning the battlefield.

All around him, the other participants continued their desperate struggle.

Despite the overwhelming numbers of monsters, none of them showed signs of giving up.

More monsters had appeared this time, not just in variety but also in sheer quantity.

His [Alpha Dire Wolf] and [Orc King] fought relentlessly, tearing through dozens of enemies, but even they were beginning to struggle.

Karl exhaled sharply.

'I can't hold back anymore.'

"Spirit Summoning!"

A surge of spectral energy erupted from his body as another spirit emerged from his cemetery.

The air grew heavy, and a deep, guttural growl echoed across the battlefield.

A massive, black-furred bear appeared, its red eyes burning like embers, curved horns sprouting from its head.

The [Demonized Bear] had arrived.

It let out a thunderous roar before charging straight into the enemy lines, its claws ripping through lizard warriors as if they were made of paper.

"Help them out," Karl ordered, dashing forward without hesitation.

With his [Spectral Blade] in hand, he threw himself into the fray, weaving through the chaos.

He dodged arrows and spells, closing the distance between him and his enemies before cutting them down with swift, calculated strikes.

Beep! Beep!

[82 Participants Remain.]

Two more players had fallen, their bodies overwhelmed by the swarm of monsters.

Just three more deaths, and the trial would be over.

But Karl had no time to worry about that.

He pushed forward, his blade carving a path through the battlefield, striking down enemy after enemy.

His spirits were doing well, and the [Demonized Bear] proved invaluable, saving his other summons multiple times.

Yet something felt off.

'Where are the last two bosses?'

The first three [Elite Lizard Commanders] had already been slain by the top-ranking players.

But the final two?

They were nowhere to be seen.

As if on cue, the answer revealed itself.

A massive shadow loomed over Karl.

He barely had time to react before a monstrous figure dropped from above.

BOOM!

The impact sent a shockwave rippling through the battlefield, launching Karl backward.

His body slammed against the ground, his head hitting the dirt hard.

A sharp pain shot through his skull as his vision blurred, blood trickling down his forehead.

"Argh..."

Dizziness crept over him, his consciousness wavering.

But before darkness could take over, he felt something press against his face.

He opened his eyes.

The [Frenzied Rabbit] was staring at him, its crimson eyes burning with intensity.

It didn't speak, but its gaze alone screamed one message:

"Get up."

Karl gritted his teeth.

'Like hell I'm going down now.'

Ignoring the pain, he pushed himself off the ground, his grip tightening around his sword.

The battlefield around him was still chaotic, but his focus zeroed in on one thing: the [Elite Lizard Commander] standing before him.

It was already engaged in battle against his spirits.

The [Orc King], [Alpha Dire Wolf], and [Demonized Bear] worked together, dodging the lizard's spear strikes while landing their own attacks.

But the boss was smart.

It unleashed [Dark Flames], creating a burning barrier around itself, preventing anyone from getting too close.

Karl knew he couldn't leave his spirits to fight alone.

With renewed determination, he dashed forward, his [Frenzied Rabbit] following right behind.

Other participants noticed the fight and began approaching, launching spells and arrows at the boss from a distance.

Karl cursed.

'I can't let them steal this kill.'

The [Orc King] roared, enduring the flames as it pushed through, its massive blade slashing into the lizard's leg.

The boss staggered.

Karl saw his opportunity.

Using the [Demonized Bear] as a platform, he propelled himself into the air.

With all his strength, he swung his [Spectral Blade], aiming directly for the boss's neck.

A deep slash tore across its throat.

Blood sprayed into the air, but—

It wasn't dead.

"Shit..."

The other players were closing in fast.

'I'm going to lose the kill—'

But before he could react, something shot past him: his [Frenzied Rabbit].

It mimicked his movement perfectly, using the [Demonized Bear] as a springboard before flipping through the air.

But unlike before, this time, it slashed with more force than ever.

SHINK!

The boss's neck split open.

Its massive body swayed before collapsing with a deafening THUD.

Karl's eyes widened.

"Holy shit."

[You have reached Level 18. You have gained 2 stat points for each of your stats.]

Before he could even catch his breath—

Ding! Ding! Ding!

[The final wave has ended!]

[End of the trial!]

Silence fell over the battlefield.

Karl barely believed it.

He had actually done it, with the help of his spirits, he had secured the final boss kill.

Not wanting any trouble, he quickly snapped his fingers, unsummoning all his spirits before anyone could get any ideas.

Annoyed voices rang around him.

"The final boss was stolen..."

"WHY?!"

"I didn't even get one..."

Karl ignored them.

He had no sympathy for those who failed to act fast enough.

He climbed atop the fallen [Elite Lizard Commander] and grabbed the small, green-black orb floating above its corpse.

The moment he touched it, a familiar notification appeared.

[You have taken the "Elite Lizard Commander's" Spirit Orb.]

His lips curled into a smile.

With this, and the human spirit orb he had obtained earlier, his arsenal was growing stronger.

And in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
