Chapter 115: Victoria’s secret.

Lee’s arrival was met with a burst of laughter, but it died a few moments later. Newcomers having a funny reaction upon arrival was nothing new. And, when he tried to get up, Lee realized why. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

It felt as the weight of the whole world was pressing on top of him. He found it hard to breathe, even though the air felt fresh and rich.

’This will be interesting.’ Lee thought, ’The gravity of this scale can only mean this world is vastly bigger than any I have previously been to!’

Now it was clear why the two guys who saved him were so strong and fast. Their physical abilities were innately more advanced compared to the people who came from smaller worlds.

In the wide field next to the rift gate several hundred people sat in the grass, almost all being the former slaves. There were few batches of kids, though, probably from Sunwell, and their former princess with her three remaining followers sat not far from the rest.

From the pressure brought by the sudden increase in gravity many were lying on the ground on their backs, except for Lee who was the only one digging in the grass with his face.

"He can’t be that weak!" Lee heard Li Hanchen say.

"Give the guy a break! He has a broken leg!" Chi Yanzhen said, and pulled Lee up.

"You go to the rest, over there!" He instructed, "And make sure our rooms are nice and tidy while we’re gone!"

"Sorry, if I got you in trouble!" Lee politely said.

He didn’t want to make new enemies right after arriving to a new place, but the two laughed in return.

"Just make sure to make use of the opportunity elder Wang gave you!" Li Hanchen said, "And stay out of trouble!"

With that the two marched away, but they hadn’t walked more than five steps when the previously forgotten bickering flared up again. Lee could only shake his head at the strange relationship the two friends had.

When according to Yanzhen’s instructions he began to limp over to Victoria’s group, two more people stepped through the rift gate before it closed. Those were the ones standing with Lunax earlier, and a moment later the bearded guy, whom everyone addressed as elder Wang, appeared from a thin air.

They didn’t pay attention to the crowd of newcomers, but went to talk to several people dressed in similar lavish robes, who apparently were registering the aliens.

"Hello again!" Lee politely said to Victoria’s group, and sat down few yards away from them.

It was clear someone was going to take care of the formalities soon enough and he would be shown to his new place of residency. It was funny to think he might wind up living in the same tent or dormitory with the haughty bitch, but that would provide him with an unexpected chance to deal with her.

"You don’t need that anymore!" Edward said and pointed at Lee’s waterskin bag, "Earlier we finally got a decent meal. Just don’t rush and chew slowly ..."

"Why are you even talking to him?" Tycen voiced the words that were written all over Victoria’s face. He spoke in Sunwell’s dialect so that Lee couldn’t understand, "He’s a random bum from nowhere!"

"If you haven’t realized it yet, we also are random bums from nowhere." Edward said with a shrug, "We don’t have a clue what will happen to us. These people are on a completely different level compared to anything we’ve seen before!"

"At least we’re out of Ashland!" Deen said, "I hate that place!"

"We still need to find a way to get back home!" Victoria said, immediately attracting the attention of everyone around them. Even the slaves began to stare at her, guided by the sound of her angelic voice. From the looks of it, Edward’s words pissed her off, but clearly it was nothing new.

"Who do we have here?!" Her voice was heard by the distant group of locals doing the registering, and they immediately rushed over.

One of them, a guy of tall stature and wide shoulders, was the first to act. Counting hundreds of slaves was boring, but it looked like he was lucky to get a toy from another world to play with. If Victoria was properly washed and dressed up, she wouldn’t be half bad, at least to his taste.

"Elder Wang said these are not to be counted. Both Li Hanchen and Chi Yanzhen are disqualified." Another one said.

"Good, good! Then I’ll take her as my new maid, you deal with the rest!" The first guy said.

"Hua Mie! We all found her! It’s not fair for you to get her!" The other one objected.

"Stop you two! Maybe she can become a cultivator! You can’t run around thinking everyone belongs to you!" The only girl in the group said. She didn’t look particularly pretty, but wasn’t ugly either.

"Look how old she is! At best she could be an elemental warrior!" The one named Hua Mie snickered, "Let me check if she has a scar!"

"Oh, no!" Edward gasped, realizing what was about to happen, but his other three companions looked clueless.

Lee, on the other hand, watched the events with undisguised interest.

Hua Mie walked toward Victoria, with a happy grin on his face, licking lips from time to time in expectation what was about to come. His target, though, looked at him in disgust, but it was the usual way she looked at anyone except her father.

What Victoria didn’t expect was that the guy dared to grab her by her shoulders and lift up, and before she could react, was already pulling down her shirt.

Lee thought he was at a safe distance, but even he got thrown back several yards when the massive blast went off. It was a long time since he saw the fire phoenix shoot to the sky, but it was still fresh in his memories as if the events in Pine Village happened yesterday.

Deen and Tycen sat much closer to her, and passed out, suffering heavy burns. Edward was also injured, but covered his face at the last moment and wasn’t in as bad condition compared to them.

The Hua Mie guy had it the worst. His charred body was lying in a two feet deep pit, but the pose he had while grabbing Victoria was still the same. His colleagues, though, stood unscathed a few yards away and more surprised rather than shocked.

"I KILL YOU TOUCH!" Victoria angrily hissed at them, but even that sounded like a song from heaven. Her accent was awful, but the meaning of her words was obvious.

To see what the ruckus was about, five people arrived only a few moments after the blast. Three of them Lee saw with Lunax earlier, but now there was a woman with a whip at her side, and another man.

"What’s going on here?" Elder Wang asked.

"Hua Mie tried to check whether she was an elemental warrior and ... well ... she was." The girl who spoke earlier, explained.

"What warrior? She’s obviously elemental master!" The big-breasted woman said, "Can’t you see she’s using her own powers? She’s covered in flames for over ten breaths and hasn’t shed a droplet of sweat. That’s ignoring the skill she used earlier. Elemental warriors are not capable of that."

Lee stared at her, not believing his ears. If it was as the woman said, Victoria had somehow ignited her own spark!

’Wait ... if that’s the case ... so that how it is!’ Lee realized, ’The Vallen family had some kind of a secret technique that allowed them to become elemental masters, overshadowing everyone else in the world with their power! That’s how they kept the throne for so long, and that’s why Valen Sunwell was the strongest man in the world! ... and that’s why Victoria looks down on everyone ... it only makes sense.’

Glancing around, Lee saw most people have surprised or amused expressions, except for Edward. The guy was sighing and shaking his head. Clearly he knew her secret, but that was understandable – he once was her fiance after all.
