Back to the 70s: My Childhood Sweetheart Spoils Me Rotten-Chapter 43 - 42: Blessing in Disguise
Chapter 43: Chapter 42: Blessing in Disguise
Just when Gong Ruini was feeling all sorts of anxiety, she suddenly saw a glimmer of light shining in from above.
Then the light vanished again.
"Ahhh."
"Ahhh."
"Help!"
There were cries for help coming from above, indicating that someone had fallen down from there.
Hahaha, there’s hope for rescue. Gong Ruini didn’t care who was so kind-hearted as to inadvertently touch something and then just fall into the tunnel. At least she had a chance of being saved.
Gong Ruini knew that there were still people above, and even if they didn’t understand how a person fell in, they should realize that there was something wrong with this tree hole.
As long as they knew there was something wrong with the tree hole, they would definitely try to find a way to rescue them.
Zhao Guangran was scared stiff; he had just leaned against the tree bark to rest, and suddenly he was falling.
More importantly, he kept rolling down. Could it be that this tree had become a spirit?
Wasn’t it said that after liberation, spirits and plants couldn’t become spirits anymore? This seemed too compliant with policy requirements.
Gong Ruini listened to Zhao Guangran’s repeated cries for help and felt her ears were going deaf.
Ah, how can he be so unsettled, being a guy, yet even less composed than she, a girl?
Gong Ruini, who was busy mocking him, didn’t even think about the fact that in terms of real age, she didn’t even know how many years older Zhao Guangran was.
"Alright, stop shouting." Gong Ruini didn’t want to bother with Zhao Guangran. It was such a great thing to have someone willing to give a male soprano warning; why stop him?
But just yelling like this wouldn’t help anything, and Gong Ruini felt her ears were getting a big shock, "Better save some energy."
As soon as Gong Ruini started speaking, Zhao Guangran was scared out of his wits, "Don’t eat me, don’t eat me."
"I’m not tasty."
"My meat is bitter."
"No, it’s rotten." Zhao Guangran thought this might be a tree spirit eyeing him, wanting to feast.
This thought frightened Zhao Guangran so much that he kept insistently declaring that his meat was not tasty, that it was bitter and rotten.
These words made Gong Ruini burst into laughter, "So, Brother Guangran, your meat is bitter and rotten meat, huh? Does that mean you are a rotten person?"
Ahhhh, could it be that it’s Gong Ruini?
How could it be her, and how did she hear this, Zhao Guangran was dumbfounded.
Now things got worse, and Zhao Guangran couldn’t imagine how Gong Ruini would tease him later. It would certainly be with great fanfare.
"My butt hurts." Zhao Guangran changed the topic, continually complaining about how much his butt hurt.
"It will get better gradually." Though it was a bit painful, there was no need to keep making such a fuss. Gong Ruini really didn’t understand why Zhao Guangran, a young man, could be so delicate. She really couldn’t imagine it.

Zhao Guangran had just fallen like that. Gong Ruwen, though, didn’t see the whole thing but just saw Zhao Guangran falling backward.
At first, Gong Ruwen didn’t think much of it, assuming Zhao Guangran hadn’t sat properly. But when he heard Zhao Guangran’s cries for help, he knew things weren’t right.
When Gong Ruwen rushed over, he couldn’t even see the hole, but his heart felt a surge of warmth.
The place Zhao Guangran fell seemed to be where his sister went missing; could it mean his sister also fell through here?
This thought gave Gong Ruwen a glimmer of hope, but he couldn’t be careless. He had to find the entrance.
"Brother Xuran, Brother Xuran." Gong Ruwen quickly found Zhao Xuran nearby, called him over, and quickly explained what had happened.
Could it be that the tree hole was problematic? Zhao Xuran was very surprised, but since Gong Ruwen had seen it with his own eyes, he couldn’t help but believe it.
"Could Ni Zi also be in here?" Zhao Xuran thought of a possibility.
Since it was quite possible, the two of them searched the ground near where Zhao Guangran fell because despite knocking and hitting all around, the entrance wouldn’t open.
"Could there be a mechanism?" Zhao Xuran suddenly remembered an old rumor, although no one around here had ever found anything useful in recent years and it was only a legend.
A mechanism? What on earth is that? Isn’t this just a tree? Gong Ruwen was confused; could there really be more to this tree?
Gong Ruwen not understanding was no problem; Zhao Xuran understood a little. If it really was a mechanism, there had to be an entrance.
Feeling around, Zhao Xuran finally found a protruding spot, pressed a little hard, and an opening appeared.
"It’s here, it’s here." Gong Ruwen was dumbfounded. What was going on? How come there really was an entrance, but no matter how much he fiddled earlier, it wouldn’t open. So strange.
Zhao Xuran placed his hands on it, "Guangran, Guangran." He leaned his head into the hole and called out loudly downwards.
"Brother, I’m here, I’m here." Zhao Guangran, hearing his brother’s voice, was so excited that he ignored the pain in his butt and jumped up waving.
"Brother Xu Ran, I’m here too." Gong Ruini saw the light above, thrilled to finally see some light.
Finally hearing a living person’s voice, she didn’t have to worry about quietly dying in this mysterious place.
"You’re both here, just hold on." Zhao Xuran had thought Gong Ruini might be inside, and hearing her voice for sure finally allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.
"Ruwen, go get Uncle Gong, make sure to get my dad." Both people had fallen in, and they didn’t know how deep it was, so how could they get them out?
Gong Ruwen, hearing his sister’s voice, also breathed a huge sigh of relief; as long as his sister was safe.
Knowing where they were, and Zhao Xuran knowing how to open the entrance, Gong Ruwen had no more worries about not being able to get in and save them later, "I’ll go get help."
Zhao Guangran wanted to show in front of Gong Ruini how brave he was as a brother, but upon hearing his brother’s familiar voice, he couldn’t hold back.
Hearing Zhao Guangran’s crying voice talking to Zhao Xuran beside him, Gong Ruini thought whoever dated this guy in the future would have trouble; he had not an ounce of manliness, crying as much as a woman.
Using the light, Gong Ruini looked around and discovered a high platform not far away.
Something seemed to be on the platform, but because of the limited light, she couldn’t tell what it was.
Gong Ruini thought since she could find a piece of jade right in the passage, there must be good things up there.
Could this be a blessing in disguise? Allowing her to find a treasure or an ancient tomb?
Oh my, what luck, really no words for it. Gong Ruini was leaping with joy internally.
