Chapter 634: Extra Three: Galsang Flower on the Plateau (Part Six)_1

As Lu Weiyi crunched on an apple, she scolded herself. What on earth was she doing? She almost ruined Sun Meng and Chen Gang’s marriage. She didn’t know whether Chen Gang had explained everything to Sun Meng. Bemoaning herself, Lu Weiyi sighed deeply in her heart.

After staying in Capital City for a few days, Fang Jing urged Lu Weiyi to hurry back to the south, to Shen City, and return to work at the hospital. As Fang Jing carried her household register with her, she grumbled about how carefree Lu Weiyi was for not getting lost, while asking Gu Xiaobei to have someone book a flight ticket.

Lu Weiyi could not help but mutter: "Auntie, when would you guys have time to visit us in the south? Plus Xiaopang, who never comes home. And my grandpa, who’s taken the whole family to X Province. If I’d known earlier, I would have gone to X Province too."

Gu Xiaobei promised with a smile: "When Yueyue gets married, we will definitely be there. The whole family will come."

Lu Weiyi made a face as usual. The image of Chen Gang flashed in her mind, causing her to mumble anxiously in her heart. My goodness, her reaction to the high altitude still hadn’t passed. Why was she still thinking about him?

During these few days in Capital City, Gu Xiaobei coaxed Lu Weiyi into dying her pretty short hair a warm red color which made her look even more playful overall.

Fang Jing kept nagging that it was about time that this auntie, referring to Lu Weiyi, ruined her beautiful hair and made it look like a red-haired ghost.

At the airport, seeing Gu Xiaobei drive away, Fang Jing couldn’t help telling Lu Weiyi: "Yueyue, can you dye your hair black again when you come back? It hurts my eyes to look at."

Lu Weiyi happily touched her own hair, looked at Fang Jing with astonishment, and said, "Mom, why are you not as trendy as Auntie? You live opposite Hong Kong and yet you’re so outdated."

Fang Jing didn’t bother responding to Lu Weiyi and turned her head to look at the information board in the airport hall.

The first thing Lu Weiyi did when she returned to Shen City was to remit money to Chen Gang. She was so unsettled by that kiss that she forgot to record Chen Gang’s card number, so she had to go to the post office to remit the money now.

A month later, Chen Gang received the remittance receipt sent by Lu Weiyi, with the amount of three thousand one hundred and eighty yuan. She had even returned the change. The remark was simply "Thank you", and the address was in Shen City.

For some reason, looking at the words "Thank you", Chen Gang felt somewhat lost. Why was this girl so lazy that she could not even bother to write more? He tore off the remittance receipt, tucked it into a book, and let out a sigh. He hoped this girl would no longer be so absent-minded and lose things in the future.

When Sun Meng came to deliver documents to Chen Gang, she saw him at the door staring blankly at a remittance receipt, with a faint smile at the corner of his mouth looking unbelievably gentle.

Sun Meng clenched the folder in her hands severely, her heart aching. Hardly blinking, she swallowed the bitterness that had reached her mouth and called out, "Reporting!"

Chen Gang retracted the smile on his face and politely nodded to Sun Meng standing at the door: "Come in."

Sun Meng felt even more bitter in her heart. It seemed that there was only work-related communication between her and Chen Gang.

One year later

Chen Gang received an order from his superiors to attend a meeting at the military department in Shen City.

Upon hearing Shen City, Chen Gang was startled for a moment. He remembered that the clumsy girl was from there, and unexpectedly had a little expectation towards this meeting.

Sun Meng and two other comrades were also attending this meeting. On their way, Sun Meng glanced at Chen Gang, who was lost in thought staring out the window, and let out a small sigh. This time, she must be brave. In this beautiful city, she had to declare her true feelings.

The meeting lasted for three days, leaving two days for free activities. Sun Meng suggested going to visit Window of the World.

Chen Gang was not very interested and told Sun Meng: "You guys go ahead. I think I’ll stay at the hotel and rest a bit. I haven’t been sleeping well these past days."

Sun Meng sighed, got her things together, and left with the other two comrades. She thought she would talk to him when she came back in the evening.

Chen Gang took a nap in the hotel. Looking at the time, it was almost noon, so he got up to grab some food outside.

When Chen Gang got out of the hotel, he picked up a Shen City travel guide from the front desk on his way out. The guide introduced the nearby Emperor Building. Its observatory at the rooftop offered a panoramic view of Shen City and Hong Kong, which seemed not a bad idea to visit.

Chen Gang planned to eat something at the tea restaurant on the fourth floor and then visit the observatory at the top.

Chen Gang ordered crystal prawn dumplings, steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce, plain boiled Chinese broccoli, and a bowl of wonton noodles. He spent all year in the Tibetan Area and had a sensitive stomach that couldn’t handle spicy or stimulating foods. The light dishes here were quite to his liking.

"Doing what? I am at work, no time! Mom, what about waiting until sometime when I’m off, then I will go meet him... Besides, I’m only twenty-three years old. What’s the rush?"

Chen Gang was startled by a familiar voice. Slowly turning his head, he saw Lu Weiyi holding a cellphone in one hand and covering her mouth with the other hand, whispering little lies; he couldn’t help but smile.

Lu Weiyi was about to be driven insane by Fang Jing. She kept pressuring her to go on blind dates every day. Did she look like she couldn’t get married?

Today was her day off, and to avoid Fang Jing’s nagging, she told Fang Jing she was going to work and slipped away to the tea restaurant for some peace and quiet.

Lu Weiyi hung up the phone and looked up to see Chen Gang staring intently at her. She got startled and almost dropped her phone in her coffee cup. Hastily grabbing her phone, her heart started racing uncontrollably. Oh no, this Chen Gang brought those high-altitude reactions with him.

Chen Gang saw Lu Weiyi still had her smart and playful short hair, now slightly yellowish. Her big eyes were open wide and her mouth fell open in shock. She was staring at him; he smiled, nodded, and said, "Hello, we meet again."

Lu Weiyi quickly nodded back, "What a coincidence. What brings you here?" She felt a bit rude for making small talk like this, so she took her coffee and sat across from Chen Gang.

When Chen Gang saw Lu Weiyi at that moment, he didn’t know how to describe his happiness. It felt like a bubble burst inside his chest, floating around, bringing a sweet feeling everywhere it went, even to his throat.

Lu Weiyi’s face turned red under Chen Gang’s sweet gaze. Trying to remain composed, she said, "When did you get here? Why didn’t you contact me? I could show you around."

Chen Gang replied with a voice as warm as a spring breeze, "I wanted to find you, but you didn’t leave me your phone number."

Lu Weiyi laughed shyly, "I forgot about that. How long are you staying? Should I show you around?"

"I’ve been here for three days and I will leave in two more days." Suddenly, Chen Gang felt it was too soon to leave.

Lu Weiyi thought for a moment then said, "I’ll take you to see the sea tomorrow. There’s definitely no sea in the Tibetan Area."

"Okay."

"Have you been to the observation deck on the rooftop?" Lu Weiyi asked again.

Chen Gang shook his head, feeling lucky that he decided to eat first; otherwise, he would not have bumped into Lu Weiyi.

Lu Weiyi slapped her hand and cheerfully said, "Let’s go to the rooftop first and see the panoramic view of Shen City and Hong Kong. Then I’ll take you to try some local snacks. This evening we can go to Damesha. How does that sound?"
