Back to the Past to Become a Fishing King-Chapter 564 - 324: Showing Off a Skill
Xie Xiaobao usually has trouble sleeping on new beds, and on top of that, he was anxious about the first day of devil training tomorrow, so naturally, he had a sleepless night.
The sturdy bunk bed ended up creaking as he tossed and turned, sounding like something indescribable was happening.
The next morning, Xie Xiaobao got up with big panda eyes.
He only fell asleep in the second half of the night and got less than four hours of sleep. When he woke up, he felt a bit heavy-headed and dizzy.
He went to the washroom to wash his face, and only then did Xiaobao realize something was off. He turned his head and looked at Liu Zi's bed. The quilt was neatly folded, and Liu Zi was gone.
It's not even six o'clock yet. Where's Liu Zi?
To wake himself up, Xiaobao used cold water to wash his hair thoroughly. After tidying himself up, he wandered downstairs.
He hadn't reached the bottom of the stairs when he saw Liu Zi coming back dressed in shorts and a sports t-shirt with a towel around his neck, they bumped into each other.
"Hey, you're awake? Wait for me to take a shower in the dorm, and we'll go have breakfast together!" Liu Zi said with a cheerful smile.
"Where did you go? I woke up to find your bed empty!"
"Got up early to exercise, went out and ran five kilometers!" Liu Zi said matter-of-factly.
"Uh…"
Running five kilometers so casually touched on Xiaobao's lack of athleticism.
Forget five kilometers, even a thousand meters would be enough to wear Xiaobao out, other than the hundred-meter dash in Jinghai Garden to grab a fishing spot, Xiaobao hadn't really run since graduating high school.
"Uh, what uh, just wait for me! I'll be right back!"
Liu Zi headed upstairs with energy to spare, soon disappearing around the staircase corner.
With Liu Zi upstairs, Xiaobao wasn't in a rush to eat and just found a step to squat on, tinkering with his phone.
In less than five minutes, Liu Zi came downstairs in a change of clothes, his hair wet, probably from a shower.
"You seemed surprised I was out running? Here's a heads-up, soon you'll have to start running too!
It's the boss's strict rule! Mornings must start with a run to maintain physical fitness! Fan Ge and I have been doing five kilometers each for over half a year."
"I have to run too?"
Hearing this news, Xiaobao felt struck by a bolt from the blue; the morale he had just built up in the morning took a hit.
"No kidding! The boss and Fan Ge run every day, why not you?
Otherwise, take my advice, just don't train! I feel your attitude isn't right!"
Liu Zi didn't hold back, pouring a bucket of cold water over Xiaobao figuratively.
"Damn!"
Xiaobao didn't even know how to respond.
"Actually, it's not a big deal. When I first started running, I was dead tired, felt like my lungs would explode! You just have to push through, now getting up early, going for a run, it warms you up and feels great! Gives you energy all day!"
"Alright then!" Xiaobao nodded.
The two chatted quietly as they walked, soon arriving at the cafeteria.
The cafeteria had more elaborate lunches and dinners, but breakfast was rather basic, offering soy milk, tofu pudding, deep-fried dough sticks, buns, thin porridge, and some pickles.
Liu Zi wasn't picky, casually grabbing a bowl of tofu pudding, then adding a generous spoonful of spicy chili oil like it was free, followed by some salted chives, stirring it up and digging in voraciously.
Xiaobao seemed a bit distracted, but thinking about the high-intensity training during the day, he ate heartily too.
After breakfast, the two of them strapped on their gear and headed to the training pool behind the office building, where the morning sun wasn't too high yet, making the temperature comfortable, and the morning sounds of birds and flowers made the whole scene feel very refreshing.
"Should we wait for the boss? Or start practicing?" Xiaobao asked again.
Liu Zi looked at Xiaobao, then at the rod in his hand, and said with some hesitation, "You'd better wait for the boss to come first.
Your casting technique has issues, let the boss demonstrate and explain it to you, so you can correct it and follow the right way to train effectively. Practicing wrong moves just makes it pointless!"
"You can correct me too, right?" Xiaobao thought for a moment and said.
Liu Zi shook his head: "It's easier to write on a blank paper, but once you write wrong and try to erase and rewrite, it gets troublesome! If you keep rewriting, the paper might tear!
I haven't graduated from my training myself, I can't carelessly correct you, if I say something wrong, it could mess you up! It's worth the wait for Brother Yang to come!"
"Makes sense!"
...
At 6:40 sharp, Zhang Yang arrived at the training pool, seeing the two of them already there, he nodded.
"You guys are early?"
"Just got here too!"
"Boss!"
The two greeted him separately.
"Since you're ready, let's get straight to it. Come on, stand up, and I'll demonstrate the correct casting technique and basic motions for you!"
Hearing his cue, Xiaobao stood up from the tackle box and handed his rod to Zhang Yang.
Zhang Yang took the rod and prepped, glancing at Xiaobao's rod holder, frowning slightly.
Those who've played competitive fishing know that fishing rod holders generally come in two types.
One has a rear bracket, widely used, where after the cast and no bite, you can rest the rod there to free your hands for other tasks.
Another kind is the shorter type, without a rear bracket.
