Be Careful, Scum Dad! Mommy Is Back!-Chapter 43 - Fainting into Her Arms
Chapter 43: Chapter 43 Fainting into Her Arms
Lu Xining’s words ignited a fire within Ji Muye.
He took a step forward, exuding a powerful presence, his eyes filled with disapproval for her relentless targeting of Liu Xixi.
Lu Xining’s words were laced with hatred and resentment toward him, “The evidence I found, every piece of it, is proof of Liu Xixi’s crimes.”
If it weren’t for Ji Muye intervening, bailing her out, Liu Xixi would already be locked up with her entire family.
“If the investigation proves it was truly her, I will definitely not shield her. However, the facts are not as they seem, Xining, we can’t wrongly accuse someone just because of the children.”
Wrongly accuse?
...
Ha!
Lu Xining truly felt that Ji Muye’s emotional intelligence was seriously lacking.
All these straightforward pieces of evidence laid right in front of him.
How could he still think she herself is innocent?
Or perhaps, because he admires her, he’s already become blind?
“Do you think I, as a father, want to see my children poisoned?”
Every time Ji Muye faced Lu Xining, he felt at a loss for words, unsure how she came up with her thoughts!
She spoke with a light tone, “Who knows.”
“After all, the children didn’t come from your belly, you didn’t endure pain for four hours in the operating room, you haven’t experienced that kind of pain.”
Ji Muye felt a headache that he had managed to suppress flaring up again.
He pinched his brow, his clear and handsome forehead now furrowed with irritation and pressure, and the world before his eyes seemed to sway bit by bit.
His body alternated between cold and hot.
Lu Xining’s voice in his ears went from near to far; he strived to hear more clearly but it was as if her voice was muffled by a thick layer of glass.
“For the time being, the children will stay with me.”
“Once you deal with Liu Xixi, we’ll talk.”
Lu Xining looked down, finished speaking, and took steps to leave.
As she passed by Ji Muye, he caught her wrist.
“You…”

Before she could finish, he leaned towards her, resting his chin on her shoulder, all his weight pressing down on her.
Lu Xining staggered back two steps, her back against the tree trunk.
“Ji Muye!”
Her fingers touched his pulse, so feeble and weak.
She remembered, his body temperature was always a bit lower than that of ordinary people throughout the year.
Holding him was particularly cooling in the summer.
But at this moment, even through his shirt, she could feel the heat of his fever; this man had been sick all along!
When Ji Muye woke up again, he was in Lu Xining’s guest room.
The upper portion of his clothing was, once again, nowhere to be seen.
Thin, delicate silver needles were inserted into the acupoints on his body— not painful, but their number was quite intimidating.
It was already dark outside the window.
Taking care of children and handling company affairs had indeed taken a toll on his health in recent years, especially with the recent distractions; he acknowledged that he needed to be more attentive to his well-being.
He struggled to get up only to find needles on his arms and head, looking every bit like a hedgehog.
The door to the guest room cracked open.
The first person peeking in was Lu Nuonuo, holding a bottle.
The second was Ji Ze, cautiously poking his head in.
Lastly was Ji Chao, his eyes full of concern for his health and their unease at sneaking in to see him.
The three kids peeked in one after the other, reminiscent of a stack of falling dominoes.
Similar brows and eyes, the same surprise and delight— from Ji Muye’s perspective, he always felt the three children looked so alike.
An unrealistic suspicion surfaced in Ji Muye’s mind.
But then he dismissed it as impossible.
“Mummy, Daddy’s awake!”
Ji Chao, being the oldest, immediately went to find Lu Xining.
Ji Ze also ran to ask their mother to come and make sure daddy was cured.
Lu Nuonuo was left.
She wore her pajamas, the pink color looking exceptionally lovely, her hair freshly washed and dried, her fair and tender skin resembling that of a newly peeled egg, irresistibly inviting a kiss.
She walked to the bed in her slippers and looked at him, curiosity filling her eyes.
Lu Nuonuo tilted her head to look at him, “Uncle is sick.”
The needles on Ji Muye’s body, although numerous and frightening in appearance, had eased his headache.
Little Dumpling, with a milk bottle clutched in her mouth, propped her hands on the bed edge and, with a couple of pants, clambered onto Ji Muye’s bed.
She sat cross-legged beside Ji Muye, hugging her milk bottle. She drank and watched the silver needles on his body, waiting quietly for her mother to come.
When she got tired, she lay down on another pillow, one hand holding the milk bottle, the other playing with her socks.
Lu Xining came in to see this harmonious scene.
Her daughter was lying beside him, drinking milk, while Ji Muye’s head, hands, and chest were pierced with the silver needles she had placed, occasionally glancing to the side.
Gurgle, gurgle, in just a few sips.
Lu Nuonuo finished her bedtime milk powder.
She calmly sat on the bed watching Lu Xining remove the needles. Ji Chao and Ji Ze climbed onto the bed and sat beside her to watch as well.
Both of their eyes were filled with worry, especially Ji Chao’s.
“Mommy, is Daddy okay?”
Lu Xining put away all the silver needles, making sure there were no stray ones that could be accidentally touched by the children, before slowly answering Ji Chao’s question.
“No, he’ll be fine after a good night’s sleep.”
This wasn’t the first time Ji Chao had seen Ji Muye collapse; last time, it was in the car, and this time, onto Mommy.
He still anxiously said, “Mommy, can Daddy stay over tonight? I want to stay with Daddy.”
Ji Ze always did whatever Ji Chao did.
Hearing what he said, he too raised his hand wanting to stay and sleep over.
Lu Nuonuo, with her big watery eyes, looked at Ji Chao and then at Ji Ze, was about to say something but then thought of something else and reached out to Lu Xining.
“I’ll sleep with Mommy.”
Little Dumpling had eyes only for her mother.
Lu Xining picked up the child and then said to Ji Chao and Ji Ze, “Daddy isn’t feeling well, and if you guys stay, he’ll have to take care of you and won’t be able to rest well at night.”
She wanted the children to go back and sleep with her.
As soon as Ji Muye was better, she would let them sleep with him.
Ji Chao was quick-witted and immediately followed up, “Mommy, so can Daddy sleep in this room later on?”
Ji Ze’s eyes lit up with excitement, “Then Daddy can live with us all the time?”
He eagerly looked to Lu Xining for confirmation.
Faced with her children’s expectations, the words of denial reached Lu Xining’s lips but were ultimately swallowed back down.
She coaxed the children, “If your daddy wants to, he can stay.”
Lu Xining did not want to be the villain in front of her children. Faced with Ji Muye’s silent gaze, she raised her eyebrows, signaling for him to quickly refuse.
But…
Ji Muye actually nodded in agreement!
He actually agreed!
Liu Xixi was at the Ji Family home, and him moving in here, what was that all about.
Ji Ze danced with joy on the bed.
“Yay! That’s great!”
“I can live with Daddy, Mommy, brother, and sister together!”
Ji Chao’s face also couldn’t hide the delight.
He stood beside the bed with Ji Ze, and said to Ji Muye, “Daddy, you rest well, make sure to sleep nicely.”
“Brother and I are going to sleep, we’ll come to see you when it’s light out.”
Ji Muye nodded and gave them a few instructions.
Lu Nuonuo also went back to her room to sleep with her two brothers.
Lu Xining hadn’t left.
She looked at Ji Muye with puzzlement in her eyes, frowning, “Why did you agree to stay with the kids, you know that…”
Ji Muye asked her, “Know what?”
“You know that you don’t like me staying, you dislike me, you detest me, and want me and the two kids to stay away from you?”
Lu Xining was speechless, “That’s not what I meant.”
Ji Muye turned his face away, his dark eyes locked onto the lamp on the bedside cabinet, utterly unaware that his upper body was still in a state of undress.
