The investigators and Vance stopped outside the apartment complex. They were surprised looking at their target.

Vance looked at the investigator, gesturing toward the apartment. "Are you absolutely sure this is their house?"

One of the investigators quickly flipped through his notes. "Yes, Master Vance. This is the exact address listed in her company records."

Vance narrowed his eyes at the small, single-room apartment. "A woman with an S-Rank Beast Fighter... and she lives here?"

One of the investigators hesitated. "It is… unusual."

Another investigator rubbed his chin. "If she had such power, you’d expect her to live somewhere safer, somewhere with security, maybe even in a noble district."

Vance sighed. "Either she’s hiding something... or someone wants us to believe she lived here."

The investigators exchanged glances.

"You think the address was faked?" one of them asked.

Vance shrugged. "Maybe. But if this was just a cover, then why leave it in the company records at all? Someone trying to disappear wouldn’t leave behind an obvious trail."

Another investigator glanced around the area. "This place doesn’t look abandoned. People still live here."

Vance clicked his tongue, still thinking. "Then let’s not waste time. We’re already here."

He gestured toward the building. "Let’s check the place. I want to see if anyone here actually knew Loreia Luxoria."

One of the investigators nodded. "Understood."

Another hesitated before asking, "And if no one remembers her?"

Vance’s frowned. "Then we’ll know for sure that this place is nothing but a lie."

With that, they moved forward, stepping into the building, ready to uncover whatever truth was waiting for them inside.

Lucius was enjoying his meal before suddenly he was disturbed.

A group of rough people had entered the restaurant, making the waiters around tense.

They looked away instinctively, pretending not to notice.

The one leading the group was a tall and big man that was wearing a black suit.

From his hair and cocky smirk, Lucius knew that he wasn’t here for a simple dinner.

He was Darry, one of the high-ranking members of a strong local gang. Your adventure continues at novelbuddy

One of the nervous waiters bowed slightly. "W-Welcome, Sir Darry. How may I assist you today?"

Darry didn’t even look at him. "VIP area. Now."

The waiter swallowed visibly as he bowed slightly lower. "I deeply apologize, Sir Darry, but the VIP area is currently full."

Darry finally turned his gaze to the waiter, his smirk fading slightly. "Full?"

The waiter nodded quickly. "Yes, Sir. Every private room is occupied by other guests who arrived earlier."

Darry’s eyes swept across the restaurant, scanning each table.

He didn’t even bother looking at the larger groups or the nobles gathered for meetings.

He was looking for the weakest-looking target, which was the easiest group to remove.

Then, his eyes locked onto Lucius’s table, which was a table of four. One man. Three gorgeous women.

The amount of food and drinks on their table suggested their deep pocket.

But compared to the other tables full of important-looking men in suits, nobles, or high-profile merchants, Lucius’s group had the fewest people.

Darry smirked and pointed toward Lucius’ table. "What about that one?"

The waiter visibly hesitated, glancing toward Lucius’s group. "Sir, they arrived earlier and have already ordered quite a lot—"

Darry clicked his tongue, cutting him off. "So?"

The waiter swallowed nervously. "They were seated first, sir. And they have already—"

Darry sighed. "Tsk. Are you really making me say it?"

He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "Move them. I don’t care how. You know how this works, right?"

The waiter tensed, his fingers twitching slightly. "Sir Darry, I truly apologize, but they are paying customers. We cannot simply—"

Darry rolled his eyes. "Fine."

Without another word, he turned and walked straight toward Lucius’s table.

When Darry arrived at the table, he didn’t bother with greetings or pleasantries.

Instead, he reached into his pocket and tossed three B-Rank Beast Cores onto the table.

Darry crossed his arms, smirking confidently. "Take this and scram, will you?"

The waiter flinched, looking away as if pretending not to see what was happening.

The other guests in the restaurant watched in silence, waiting to see what Lucius would do.

But contrary to their expectations, Lucius only smirked. He picked up the beast cores from the table and kept them.

"I see. Thanks, then. We’ve also already finished our meal anyway."

Then, without hesitation, he stood up and began to leave the restaurant.

The three girls, Loreia, Luna, and Liora, followed suit, standing up from their seats.

Darry blinked, momentarily surprised. He hadn’t expected such an easy surrender.

"Hah," he scoffed, leaning back slightly. "At least you know your place."

But just as Lucius turned to leave, Darry suddenly raised his hand, stopping the three women.

The tension in the room spiked immediately.

"Hold up," Darry said, glancing over the three women with greed.

He smirked as he arrogantly bragged himself. "Hey, girls. Why don’t you accompany me tonight?"

Darry continued, grinning. "I can give you more than that thin and small man. You’ll be treated like queens with me."

Lucius let out a slow breath. He was quite enraged. "Ah, how annoying."

But before he could say or do anything, the girls spoke first.

Luna tilted her head, placing a hand on her hip, mocking him. "You? You think you can afford us?"

Darry chuckled, completely misreading the situation. "Oh, sweetheart, I can afford far more than you think."

Luna’s smile widened, but it wasn’t friendly. "That so?"

She leaned in slightly and whispered. "You wouldn’t survive a single night with me, little man."

Darry froze for a fraction of a second, something in his body instinctively warning him of danger.

But before he could react, Loreia stepped in. "I’ll pass. I prefer real men over overconfident dogs."

Darry flinched slightly, his pride taking a hit. "What was that?"

Liora finally spoke. "You are beneath notice."

Darry’s smug grin slowly disappeared. His expression darkened as he realized what had just happened.

He had just been outright humiliated.

Lucius, still standing nearby, sighed and shook his head.

"I tried to be polite but I suppose there are always fools who don’t know when to quit."

Darry’s fist clenched. "You—"

Luna stepped closer, cutting him off completely. "Careful, Darry."

Her voice was sweet and teasing. "You’re starting to sound like you have a death wish."

Lucius finally smirked, cracking his knuckles. "Now then... how are we handling this?"
