Beast Tamer Ascension-Chapter 31Book 4: : Missing Persons
Vol 4 Chapter 31: Missing Persons
Outside the Immortal-Burying Volcano.
Not long after the Cavern Heaven descended, its light gradually faded.
Thunder Dragon Ancestor wasn’t too surprised—
In his opinion, even if the Holy Son hadn’t brought back the Dragon Carp, he was still the strongest among Core Formation cultivators.
Unless an Immortal Physique appeared, no one at the same stage could possibly rival him.
“Hm?”
But precisely because he believed that, he was shocked to see Lin Jing and the Pine Leaf Mouse stumbling out, both covered in injuries.
“Your Highness... how did you...”
“No big deal.” Lin Jing waved his hand. “I need to recover. Dragon Carp, don’t start cultivating yet.”
“Use the Lotus Heart Flame to help us heal.”
“Coming!!” Not far away, the Dragon Carp saw how miserable Lin Jing and the Pine Leaf Mouse looked and instantly knew this house would fall apart without it.
It quickly floated over and sprayed healing Lotus Heart Flame, while trying to casually fish for details about what good stuff Lin Jing had picked up this time.
Last time, he’d gotten the Hourglass of Time from the Cavern Heaven—absolutely top-tier, wouldn’t even trade it for a quasi-immortal artifact. So this time had to be just as good, right?
“Don’t ask.” Lin Jing sat cross-legged, clearly a bit depressed.
What he got was the top-tier formation technique hidden by the Immortal Palace: the Divine Scripture.
It’s a powerful cultivation technique. Once mastered, it can transform a cultivator’s physique into a formation core.
When that formation core is located in a place with a Dragon Vein, it can borrow the vein’s power to summon projections of legendary figures from history—similar to the Projection Heaven technique.
But there are conditions and limitations to the summoning.
First, the figure can’t be some nobody. Even long after death, they must still have people worshiping and offering sacrifices to them. Also, the cultivator must possess a personal item the figure left behind.

And even if summoned, the projection doesn’t retain its original power. Its cultivation is limited to that of the one who summons it.
For example, if the summoner is at the Core Formation stage, even if the projection was a Void Mystical expert in life, it would still only be Core Formation level now.
Of course, since the projection was once incredibly powerful, even limited, it’d still be formidable. The Scripture notes that summoned projections possess a certain degree of consciousness!
This technique is meant for extremely specific situations within the Immortal Palace.
For instance, during a catastrophe, a Divine Scripture cultivator could summon ancestral projections to resist invaders.
Or if a technique or secret art is lost, a projection of a master who knew it could be summoned to pass it on again.
Functionally, the Divine Scripture definitely lives up to being a top-tier formation technique. Though it requires high talent, harsh conditions, and drains at least half the user’s spiritual energy for a temporary projection—that’s not the worst part.
The real issue is that one can only cultivate one main technique. Lin Jing already has the Beast Taming Art, so he can’t switch.
Jiang Gang had considered one possibility: let Lin Jing’s avatar cultivate it before reaching the Nascent Soul Stage.
But giving something this valuable to an avatar? It just doesn’t feel right for a Core Formation-level choice.
What Lin Jing really coveted was the Creation Immortal Physique, but even he knew that kind of body was purely based on chance. Even the Immortal Palace couldn’t artificially create it. A fully grown Immortal Physique could shake the entire Immortal Palace!
“...”
At this moment, hearing that all Lin Jing got was that, the Dragon Carp also looked disappointed and tried even harder to heal them. What a loss. Without this lucky koi around, things really did go wrong.
Thunder Dragon Grandpa was right—this Cavern Heaven’s opportunities really didn’t match up to its Immortal Flame.
“But this Divine Scripture isn’t exclusive to humans. That means spirit beasts can cultivate it too. So even if I don’t use it, maybe it’d be good for a pet?”
The Divine Scripture was undeniably mystical. Not cultivating it would be a waste.
“But clearly, the Pine Leaf Mouse, Dragon Carp, and Ice Soul Gu aren’t suitable.”
“A fourth pet? My Core Formation contract slot is still vacant. I haven’t finalized my fourth pet yet. If I can find a beast gifted in cultivating the Divine Scripture, it might be worth contracting.”
While soaking in the Lotus Heart Flame, Lin Jing pondered.
A few days later, after fire therapy from the Dragon Carp and ingesting several rare treasures that repaired Core Formation damage, Lin Jing gradually recovered his vitality.
His recovery was relatively quick, since the strain from using his Core Formation divine ability was shared by both the core and his lifespan.
With some lifespan spent, the burden on the core was lighter.
In comparison, the Pine Leaf Mouse had directly unleashed its core—its condition was far worse. Thankfully, its foundation was solid. Otherwise, its cultivation would’ve dropped to Early Core Formation.
“You recovered yet?”
While Lin Jing and the others were still healing, a ripple appeared in the barrier. A little girl in a dragon robe with a round, tigerish face stepped through. She glanced at the seated Lin Jing and casually asked:
“Your Majesty the Demon Emperor? I’ve mostly recovered. Is your side already done?” Lin Jing opened his eyes and stood up.
“Not yet.” The Demon Emperor waved him down. “That bald guy is demanding too much. I sensed an anomaly in the barrier earlier, and when I checked, I realized you’d been sucked into the Cavern Heaven. I just dropped by to check on you.”
Lin Jing stood up again and said, “Thank you for your concern, Your Majesty. I’m fine, no need to worry. Please don’t let me delay your affairs.”
The Demon Emperor pouted and pushed him back down again. “What affairs? Just rest.”
“Right now, Qingzhou is divided between the Tongtian Tower and the Demon Court. The Buddhist Sect wants to preach among the spirit beasts and is hoping to cooperate with us.”
“I’m currently negotiating with the Buddhist leaders. We haven’t reached an agreement yet. Still playing the game.”
“The Buddhist Sect... wants to preach to the spirit beasts?” Lin Jing frowned.
The Demon Emperor nodded. “That’s nothing new. The Buddhist Sect was never purely human. Back in the day, it included beasts, demons, and humans alike. At one point, even a demon led the sect. But over time, it became human-only.”
“Now they want to bring spirit beasts and demons back into the fold. Not surprising. The Golden Era is coming—it’s a prime chance to build a foundation.”
“Of course, whatever their motives, we can’t let them succeed so easily.” She licked her lips. “Gotta bite off a piece of the Buddhist Sect first!”
Lin Jing nodded. Stuff like that... best left for the leaders of the Demon Court and Buddhist Sect to hash out. He was too minor to weigh in anyway...
“Hm?”
Just as the Demon Emperor saw that Lin Jing was in decent shape and was about to leave, she suddenly paused, giving him a strange look.
“Kid, that turtle outside... is it yours? Why’s it been trying to squeeze through the barrier this whole time?”
