Vol 3 Chapter 48: The Ancestral Land!

"Is this your idea or the Sect Master's?" Lin Jing asked.

Ouyang Hao shook his head. "Neither. It's Senior Sister's idea."

"Thinking about it carefully, the Ancient Celestial Kingdom is built on fate and destiny, which directly conflicts with the development path of our Beast Taming Sect."

"Even if, within the next hundred years, our Beast Taming Sect restructures itself so that human fortune surpasses demonic fortune, what about after a few thousand years? The same situation will arise again sooner or later!"

"That’s also why there are hardly any human cultivators with demonic beast bloodlines in the Ancient Celestial Kingdom, whereas Qingzhou has many. The very foundation of survival is incompatible, making it difficult to thrive."

"Senior Sister believes that if the Beast Taming Sect relocates to the freer lands of Qingzhou, with the Demon Court as a backing, it will undoubtedly develop better and have more opportunities."

Lin Jing fell into deep thought before responding, "The problem is that most of the disciples and elders of the Beast Taming Sect have their families in the Ancient Celestial Kingdom. The sect isn’t their whole world."

"Just like the elders and disciples who came to Qingzhou this time—most of them came alone."

"But the ones who stayed behind in the Flower Sect? They come from various cultivation families in the Great Wasteland. Aside from the Beast Taming Sect, they have other relatives there. Asking them to leave the Ancient Celestial Kingdom and come to Qingzhou is almost impossible. Once they leave, they may never see their families again."

"Yeah." Ouyang Hao sighed. "That’s also one of the reasons the Sect Master thinks it’s a bad idea."

"Do you have any good suggestions, Junior Brother?"

Lin Jing shrugged. "That’s for you, the Young Sect Master, to figure out. You’re the one involved in the sect’s important decisions. When the Ancient Celestial Kingdom is safe, you’re there. When Qingzhou, without the Demon Court’s protection, feels dangerous, you’re here. Personally, it doesn’t really matter to me where I am."

I'm not from this world in the first place. I have no deep attachment to the Ancient Celestial Kingdom, nor do I have any relatives here. I just go with the flow, so I don’t really have a strong opinion on Senior Sister’s idea.

If anything, once I fully refine the Transformation Pill, having the Demon Court as a backer might be far safer than relying on the Ancient Celestial Kingdom.

After all, in the Ancient Celestial Kingdom, even if I have some legal protection as a student of the Academy, that law is just a tool used by the rulers to maintain order. To the powerful figures who make those laws, my Longevity Body could be discarded at any moment. The Beast Taming Sect and I hold no real significance to the Ancient Celestial Kingdom.

But if I can secure a partnership with the Demon Court through the Transformation Pill, then our relationship would be bound by mutual interests. That’s far more reliable than national laws.

"Alright then..." Seeing that Lin Jing had no particular opinion, Ouyang Hao scratched his head.

A few days later, Sparrowfeather finally arrived at the Qilin Clan’s ancestral land.

Amidst the towering mountains, a massive spatial vortex led to a hidden realm. Floating above the sky was a Fire Qilin in the Demon Emperor Realm, with red eyes and golden scales.

"Greetings, Holy Son. I am Lin Ye, an elder of the Qilin Clan." The Fire Qilin spoke quickly.

"Elder Lin Ye…" Holy Son Xu Qingyao stepped off the airship. "Thank you for having us. Apologies for the intrusion."

"No need for such courtesy, Holy Son…" The Fire Qilin swept its demonic senses over the people aboard the airship. "Are these the ones who wish to borrow the Qilin Clan’s training grounds?"

"Yes, they are all my followers and have recently been practicing fire-based techniques," Xu Qingyao confirmed.

"Follow me, then."

Upon arriving in the Qilin Clan’s hidden realm, Ouyang Hao and the other members of Sparrowfeather were each assigned a cultivation cave dense with fire-attribute energy by the Qilin Demon Emperor. Only Lin Jing…

"Elder Lin Ye, my follower is a bit different from the others. His contracted pet beast is a Fire Qilin currently on the verge of forming its core. He wishes to borrow the Qilin Clan’s Ancestral Land for its Core Formation. Would that be possible?"

"Hmm?" The Qilin Demon Emperor turned to look at Lin Jing, the only one who had remained behind. "A stray from the Qilin bloodline?"

"Yes, it’s a big fellow with distant Qilin ancestry. My follower nurtured it and unearthed its ancestral bloodline, allowing it to evolve into a Fire Qilin."

"Alright, fine. Since you are under the Holy Maiden’s banner, I’ll allow it into the Ancestral Land. But don’t get your hopes up. Beasts with only a trace of Qilin blood rarely receive the blessing of the ancestors." The Demon Emperor spoke indifferently.

The Qilin Clan’s Ancestral Land.

It was a sacred site where countless ancestors of the Qilin Clan lay buried.

All Qilin beasts broke through there.

If one’s talent was exceptional, there was a chance to awaken a deceased Qilin ancestor’s spirit and receive their blessing on their bloodline!

"Many thanks, Elder Lin Ye." Lin Jing bowed.

The Fire Qilin Demon Emperor didn’t even bother acknowledging him, clearly not taking a human cultivator seriously.

"Release it now. If it manages to awaken an ancestor’s blessing, it may inherit some of the Qilin Clan’s powerful demonic arts." Xu Qingyao suggested.

Hearing this, Lin Jing lightly waved his arm.

A round-eyed Fire Qilin appeared. Though it had a somewhat wolfish, somewhat dog-like appearance, its aura was unmistakable.

At first, the Qilin Demon Emperor didn’t pay much attention. But the moment the Dragon Carp shifted into its defensive form, an overwhelming imperial-level fire bloodline spread through the air. The Qilin Demon Emperor’s pupils shrank instantly.

"Imperial-level bloodline!!!" It exclaimed in shock. "A weak-blooded Qilin with only a trace of ancestry… How could it possibly reach an Imperial-level bloodline?!"

"Chirp~" The Dragon Carp rolled its eyes. Its imperial-level bloodline was the least impressive thing about it.

"If they weren’t exceptional, they wouldn’t be my followers," Xu Qingyao chuckled. "Elder Lin Ye, I’d advise you not to underestimate them."

The Qilin Demon Emperor snapped back to reality. "Apologies. If it truly possesses an imperial-level bloodline, then it might just awaken an ancestor’s blessing upon breaking through. If it chooses to recognize its heritage and return to the Qilin Clan, we would grant it significant resources for cultivation!"

"Then we appreciate Elder Lin Ye’s generosity," Xu Qingyao replied.

Not long after, the Dragon Carp entered the deeper regions of the Qilin Clan’s Ancestral Land to train and break through.

As for Lin Jing, being human, he was not permitted entry.

However, since he was still within the Qilin Clan’s hidden realm, the distance wasn’t far. Thanks to their contract, he could sense the Dragon Carp’s condition as though he were right beside it.

"Train well and condense your core as soon as possible."

With that thought, Lin Jing also entered meditation within the cultivation cave assigned by the Fire Qilin Clan.

Whether human or beast, forming a core was not something that could be accomplished in just a few days. It would take at least one to two months since both Golden Cores and Demonic Cores required time to gestate divine abilities…

As for whether the Dragon Carp would be acknowledged by the Qilin ancestors and receive their demonic arts, Lin Jing didn’t particularly care.

He and the Dragon Carp had no shortage of techniques. The Flame Emperor’s Divine Ability was already more than sufficient.

If not for Senior Sister’s suggestion and the fact that it was conveniently on their route, he wouldn’t even have bothered coming here…

For now, he just hoped the Dragon Carp would complete its breakthrough smoothly and not stir up any trouble in the Qilin Clan’s sacred ancestral land.

"Alright… time to split my focus and check in on my clones."
